To say that this clip contains some rather prophetic commentary from former U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter is an understatement – I’d honestly forgotten that Souter voted against the majority in Bush v. Gore also, which makes him even more worthy of my respect, for what it's worth...

Yeah, the debate was apparently just as pitiable of an exercise as was forecasted – kudos to HRC though for, as TYT says, doing her homework and actually showing up prepared; once more, as in 2012, a Repug presidential nominee who gestated, if you will, in the conservative “thought bubble” saw it go POP when it met reality in the general election…



…and sorry, but I respectfully disagree with K.O. here – “Donald Drumpf” should be forced to see this through and get the electoral beating he thoroughly deserves…



…and if “Fergus Laing” is really interested in an example of grace in defeat (yeah, I can dream, can’t I?), here is the most memorable example I can think of, and that is the concession speech of one-time Dem presidential nominee Sen. Hubert Humphrey in 1968 – the lines that everyone remembers, and which are the most noteworthy as far as I’m concerned, are between about 3:05 and 3:20 (and remember the horrors that preceded this in that dreaded year)...



...and Rachel Maddow reminds us here on the “New Black Panther Party” stuff in Philly (actually scary to see how utterly stupid some of those people in Alaska are, to say nothing of everywhere else in this country…and of course, the idiot behind all of this faux outrage was hired by Trump to supposedly ensure the integrity of the vote on 11/8 – uh huh, when pigs fly…and try to tell me again how mainstream “Maniac Megyn” Kelly supposedly is)…

…and Lawrence O'Donnell talks once more with Khizr Khan, whose son made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and Josh Manning, in response to last Sunday's idiocy from you-know-who, which, given the sex stuff, seems like a month ago now (powerful stuff - all you need to do is look at Mr. Khan's face as Manning recounts what happened; more meaningful than the words, though the words must never be forgotten either)...



…and Repug U.S. House Rep Trent Franks engages in a particularly stoo-pid attempt at deflecting the latest Trump garbage, as Kyle tells us (NSFW – but sorry, I don’t see an equivalency to HRC & Syria here)…

…and it sounds like Number 44 has no more sh*ts to give, fortunately for us all, here (and by the way, he’s absolutely right, something to keep in mind while trying to contemplate the awfulness of this pic from earlier today in Florida of course – where else can you get that vintage Bushco “Sore Loserman” T-shirt from 2000?)…

I think not.) – some of her killers were sentenced to life in prison, but the identity of the person(s) who put out the “hit” was never identified, which makes it even more obvious to yours truly who was really behind it…

Update: Every time something horrific has occurred with Trump (almost too many times to mention), I thought to myself, “well, maybe we’ve reached the bottom with this guy at long last.”

After this, though, I don’t think Donald J. Trump actually has a concept of what “bottom” means (except, of course, pertaining to the female anatomy). And I’m not even going to call for him to apologize, since I know he doesn’t have a molecule of contrition in his entire wretched body.

And under no circumstances should he leave the presidential race. Make him stay in and get the electoral beating that he will completely and utterly deserve (and I’m starting to wonder now just how much down-ballot wreckage Trump will cause, though that is definitely secondary at this moment I’ll admit).

I may actually watch the debate on Sunday now. I think I would really enjoy watching Hillary Clinton tear this guttural mongrel to pieces.

I thought Tim Kaine was absolutely right to point out that it’s a pretty huge chasm of a difference between the two presidential tickets that one thinks that women basically are cattle when it comes to their reproductive health and the other doesn’t, but I honestly wish Kaine had pointed out what a vile, disgusting hypocrite Pence is for claiming to support all life but punishing poor women in Indiana the way he does with his childish tantrum of a fight against Planned Parenthood, something Pence would gladly inflict on the country as a whole if, God forbid, he had the chance (here…some will say Kaine won and some will say Pence won – who matters is the individual at the top of the ticket, somebody Pence is running away from with all speed; also, to be fair, I think the moderator should have prevented the two of them from talking over each other, especially Kaine...more here, here, and here)…



…and K.O. brings us the latest idiocy from “Fergus Laing,” which is every bit as dangerous as Olbermannn points out with all justifiable outrage…

I thought these two recent segments from Rachel Maddow were pretty good; the first tells us about Gerry Ford’s infamous debate gaffe about the Soviet Union not running things in Eastern Europe as he alleged in the debate with Jimmy Carter, and you definitely can argue that that had a lot to do with Ford losing….



…and the Ford segment sets up this piece on Trump needing those anti-Castro Cubans in FLA, even though – oopsie! – “The Donald” ended up doing business with Castro, which, among other things, happened to be completely illegal (the "mistress from hell" pic of HRC at about 3:45 is particularly adolescent, by the way)…



…and K.O. tells us how the presidential race is being handicapped by those who do such things for a living (illuminating as always as far as I’m concerned)…



...and I thought this was funny stuff from Bill Maher on "The Donald" (I got a kick out of "Unpopular Science" in particular…Steve Moore was as big a tool bag throughout the show as you would expect, by the way)…



..and aside from questioning millennial support at the end (something to consider in light of this I think), I thought that Gov. Howard Dean made some solid points about the media coverage in this campaign here - and I'm the last person in the world who will defend "Donald Drumpf," but Dean's coke remark really was inexcusable...



...and RIP Sir Neville Marriner (yes, I know, "culture" twice in a row - can we stand it? And an "autumnal" video too!).

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the passage of the utterly wretched Hyde Amendment named after a serial philanderer who served for entirely too long in the U.S. House of Representatives. Its existence is yet another reason to vote out Republicans and vote FOR Democrats, including HRC who has promised to repeal it; of course, she’ll need a Democratic Congress for that.

The Hyde Amendment is all about sticking it to “the poors.” Abortion has existed since the time of the cavemen (I would guess), and it will always be with us. Besides, if the “pro-life” party really cared about ending it, they would be advancing pre-natal and early childhood care, which, for the most part, they never do. That famous right-wing philosopher Bill Clinton once said that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare,” and that’s good enough for me.

Besides, if the Repugs really cared about banning abortion for every woman regardless of economic status, they would have found a way to pass a law that abortions can’t be paid for through health savings accounts (which, overwhelmingly, people of high net worth can afford), and as far as I can tell, such a law has never been passed.

And speaking of the debate, I need to let you in on something that I think is pretty funny (well, maybe not THAT funny since we’re paying for it).

In these parts, the Bucks County Courier Times is the local newspaper that covers our area (for the benefit of anyone who hasn’t picked up on that by now even though I’ve made repeated references to the paper at this site). Despite the ridiculous right-wing tilt of the Op-Ed page, I should add that there are more than a few beat reporters working for the paper who do legitimately good work.

The paper also has a history of late deliveries (issues with printing and such, or so we’re told) that seemed to be timed towards anything related to good news for Democrats. We ended up with late next-day delivery of an issue on at least one occasion during the Democratic primary debates, and another time, I said that the paper ignored coverage of a debate entirely (the headline of that issue had to do with how valuable pets are as companions…), when in fact, someone from the paper got back to me and said that there was about a paragraph of coverage on page A-18 of the debate in question.

I’m sure you know where I’m going with this, so I’ll just cut to the proverbial chase and let you know that we didn’t receive an issue of the paper this morning. We’ll see if we got the issue later or will get it tomorrow, or if I’ll have to call the paper and have our bill adjusted again.

As I said, too funny…

Update 9/28/16: We got the paper this morning with a headline of “Clinton, Trump Battle Fiercely,” which I suppose was true. The explanation for the missing delivery was an outage at their local print production facility in Falls, Pa., which seems to occur pretty frequently.
