Friday Stuff

GO, BERNIE, GO! (here - to help, click here...quiet on guns, but nobody's perfect - unfortunately, that's a "third rail" for a lot of politicians; not making excuses, just stating a fact)…

…and PRAISE BE, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! John Oliver BRINGS US THE HEALING! TOUCH THAT COMPUTER SCREEN! I SAY TOUCH IT!

(And yeah, sending money would be nice, but I don’t have my PayPal link anymore. Google Ad Sense link? Sorry…don’t have that either – sniff; mostly funny stuff because it’s true)…

...and I know the Alabama legion of the great unwashed is congregating to see The Donald tonight - what a bunch of nitwits - but Lawrence O’Donnell recently gave us this “Rewrite” over Trump and the latest “anchor baby” nonsense (interesting history in the Julia Lynch case on just how far back “birthright citizenship” goes and how widely it applies)…

...and James got a little rude here in this great cover of the Eddie Cochran tune, believe it or not, so be warned (still some bangin' stuff, though).

Thursday Stuff

As I said, as long as they keep giving us the ammunition, we might as well use it…

…and I’m really glad to hear this analysis from Thom Hartmann about the waste running into the Animas River from the Gold King Mine – we definitely need a history lesson on this story; the last minute of his commentary is the real “get” as far as I’m concerned (here)…

…and no, somehow I don’t think any “intern dress code” has a damn thing to do with this either (kudos to Claire McCaskill)…

…and I’m scrambling a bit to get to the rest of my summer songs – don’t want to forget this one.

Wednesday Stuff

Sam Seder tells us how the Obama Administration "shrugs its shoulders" at Malaysia’s human rights violations while trying to pursue a deal with them on the TPP (Sen. Robert Menendez has acted pretty cowardly on the Iran deal, but he did the right thing here, believe it or not)...

…and I’m a little late with this, but I give you Chris Hayes's report on the California "shade balls" used to protect their ever-more-precious H2O out there (clever idea)…

…and yep, it’s time once more for “This Day In Doomsy History” from 8/19/09 (K.O. brings us “Worst Persons” with Bobby "Don't Call Me Piyush" Jindal complaining about a high speed rail line that supposedly ran from Disneyland to Las Vegas when rebutting Obama on the stimulus awhile back...but then, it seems like he wanted a piece of some high speed rail action himself; Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade of Fix Noise took the side of a lady who compared Obama to Hitler - God, this is REALLY old! - in front of Barney Frank, who is Jewish, and Frank gave her the treatment she deserved; and Flush Limbore topped it off in an even more juvenile fashion on the same subject...uh, Flush? God called. He said you can keep your "talent.” By the way, how many sponsors did you lose THIS week?)…

…and RIP Yvonne Craig – not a huge name I know, but she was all over the place in the era of the “Dippity Do” ‘60s, particularly as Batgirl of course, and also as Marta, the green “Star Trek” alien who loved Kirk and tried to kill him with the dagger under the pillow…condolences (and a little bit more of my childhood dies with her – sniff…found this nice little tribute video).

Tuesday Stuff

Looks like HRC is “going big” on student loan reform (maybe because Bernie Sanders is better on this issue, but credit where it's due – yeah, she’s so “untrustworthy,” isn’t she? Give me a goddamn break! Shades of Al Gore in 2000 - turn the damn record over, willya?)…

…and there’s nothing like giving the wingnuts a taste of their own rotten medicine, is there (here)…

…and oh yes, the Repugs will present their “serious” alternative to “Obamacare” any day now, any day now – zzzzz…

…and RIP Bob Johnston, fabled music producer for both Johnny Cash and Mistah Bob, including this selection from “Blonde on Blonde.”

Monday Stuff

RIP Julian Bond (Alex Witt talks with Marc Morial about the late civil rights icon - more here)…

...Bond was a man of many accomplishments, and he also hosted one of the funniest episodes of "Saturday Night Live" I ever saw, including this clip (and Tom Waits was great on the show too)...

...and Rev. Al tells us the latest on the utterly ridiculous Texas Voter ID law, which currently is being reviewed by a federal court (and once more, to do something about this, click here)...

...and Elvis "left the building" for real 38 years ago yesterday.
