Friday Stuff

I think this is almost too delicious for words, especially in light of the following video…

…and in a related item, it looks like that Kenyan Muslim socialist in the White House is trying to leave our number one ally defenseless again (removing my tongue from my cheek)…

…and John Oliver brought us a great bit IMHO last week (here) about the lack of U.S. representation in our territories; once again, when you look for true investigative journalism these days, turn to a comedian (Stanley Kubrick would be proud)…

…and I don’t think I’m going to be able to include any items related to Friday the 13th again for a little while, so I’d better get this in now (still can't believe Jack Bruce is gone - sniff).

Thursday Stuff

Ever wonder what happens when that conservative thought bubble gets popped, if you will, by the metaphorical pin of reality? Check this out…

…and yeah, our corporate media sure loves their Republican “sugar daddies” giving them orders and looking all serious and all, don’t they – in response to this, I think this video is appropriate (and that doesn’t even consider this)…

...and I give you Jon Stewart on our "post-racial" society here; don't know when he's going to sign off, but he's going out with a bang - good for him...

…and RIP Jimmy Greenspoon of Three Dog Night (reminds me that the Doomsymobile is due for inspection – snark mode off).

Wednesday Stuff

Once again, Shep Smith forgets the script and tells the truth here – kudos to him; there’s a reason why I’ve had absolutely nothing to say about the supposed “scandal” of Hillary Clinton’s email, and that is because I can assure you that I give not one damn whatsoever…

…and I thought this was a pretty good interview Rachel Maddow conducted with Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine about the “Tehran Tom” Cotton letter, though I think King was a little too respectful towards that worm Bob Corker in light of this (and “Democrat” votes from Senator Get-Off-My-Lawn...cute)…

...and part of the reason why I’m including this video is for everyone to watch Repug U.S. Senator John Hoeven completely dance around the question of whether or not Keystone XL will be attached to a bill to fund much-needed infrastructure repair and upgrading in this country, as well as any future legislation from “the world’s greatest deliberative body” – of course the answer is that the Repugs will keep bringing up Keystone over and over and over (and I think it’s telling that, when Hoeven talks about energy, he completely ignores renewables).

And by the way, good for Ed Schultz for mentioning the fact that, while Repugs will scream about “eminent domain” all the live long day when it comes to solar, wind and geothermal, they’re quiet as proverbial church mice when it comes to oil (here), though I would have been happier if he’d allocated his time a little better so Jane Kleeb had as much say as Hoeven…

…and happy belated 70th (!) birthday to classic rock icon Robin Trower.

Tuesday Stuff

RIP Sam Simon of “The Simpsons,” who helped to bring us moments such as these recalled by Chris Hayes in the following clip…

…and I said after the electoral debacle last fall that Tom Cotton would likely end up as the most notorious of the incoming Repug senatorial class, and he truly sunk to new depths with the letter to Iran noted here in Lawrence O'Donnell's discussion with Steve Clemons, Howard Dean, Joy Reid and Harry Enten (try to imagine the hue and cry if the Dems had written a similar letter to the U.N. Security Council telling them to ignore Colin Powell and the infamous vial of baking soda prior to the Iraq war...and good point here too, by the way)…

Update 3/11/15: A sign of a pulse from our corporate media - the stuff of miracles, IMHO (here)

...and good for Emily's List President Stephanie Schriock for taking apart the "party of Lincoln" here...

...and in a related vein, sorry I forgot that last Sunday was International Women's Day as noted here - calls for a tune, wouldn't you say?

Monday Stuff

I thought this was a well done, and touching, remembrance by the Rev. Clark Olsen speaking about the murder of fellow minister James Reeb in Selma, Alabama prior to passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965...

...which I think is a good lead-in to Charles Osgood's report on the 50th anniversary of the Selma march and the conflict at the Edmund Pettis Bridge (and Obama speaking there also on Saturday, of course)...

...and I thought this was a timely "New Rules" segment also (NSFW as always - loved the bit with 91u1iani)...

...and even though this definitely rocks, I think it also fits the Obama theme, if you will.
