Friday Stuff

Rachel Maddow tells us about what I think is some pretty interesting stuff involving the High Court of Hangin' Judge JR (typical for the air marshal and our soldiers to be wronged the way they were under Bushco, and I'm quite sure the Fair Housing Act is in the wingnut cross hairs too)...

…and I thought the clip about winning two campaigns was the “takeaway” from the SOTU address the other night, but really, THIS is the takeaway…

…and I sincerely think most of these kids will be great reporters one day, assuming there are any news outlets left in this country to employ them (here)…

...and these guys just keep cranking out great tunes, like this one.

Wednesday Stuff

I’m not one of those people who hangs on every word of the SOTU address regardless of which party is occupying An Oval Office, but I had to admit that I got a kick out of this…

…et mais oui, Fox “News” est tres stupide pour mentir a moi, est vous, avec les frequence (I think I got this right)…

.....and changing the mood big time, Rachel Maddow tells us the significant impact the federal hate crime law has made in the prosecution of the murder of James Craig Anderson in Mississippi...

...and it looks like new Repug Iowa Senator Joni Ernst made a big impact with her base here, though her response was apparently lacking in the content department, which is typical – made me recall this tune (appalling beyond words that she's taking the U.S. Senate seat once held by Tom Harkin...wonder if he has second thoughts?).

Tuesday Stuff

When the Repugs are in doubt (which they’ll never admit of course), the only thing left for them to do is double-down, as Melissa Harris Perry illustrates here in the case of Sam Brownback, one of the truly worst governors in this country from a large, sorry lot…

…and I give you the latest in the chronicles of “white genocide” here (removing my tongue from my cheek - NSFW)…

…and yeah, this is a good ad, but the election has come and gone and the Garden State remains stuck with this baboon – if nothing else, Governor Bully is always good for more than a few headlines…

Update 1/20/15: See what I mean?

...and I guess this is a topical tune, isn't it?

Legacy of a Dream, 2015

President Obama issued a proclamation here in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 2011, and this post from 2006 concerning Dr. King is every bit as timely now as it was then (as well as this).

Also, here is an excerpt from a speech given by Dr. King at the Barratt School in Philadelphia in 1967.

Sunday Stuff

Yep, I get it that K.O. gave up the politics thing a little while ago, but I think he's spot-on in his analysis of this alleged settlement between the NCAA and Penn State over the Jerry Sandusky horror show...

...and all I can say in response is “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose”...

...and gee, maybe we ought to do something about this whole global warming thing, huh?...

...and here's a tune I don't hear too often from this guy with this in mind (a song probably every married guy could sing at one time or another if we were honest).
