Saturday Stuff

As far as I’m concerned, at a minimum, James Comey and Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao are guilty of treason for this (and I’m sorry, but I have to say it – if Number 44 had even an inkling of this in September, he should have said something...about everything I mean)…

…and by the way, how does it feel to get played again, all you saps who voted for President-Elect Fergus Laing (here)?...

…and K.O. once again performs a service by giving us a rundown of Donald Drumpf’s “cabinet of deplorables”…

…and I don’t know about you, but at times like these, I need to hear this songs for the sake of my sanity.

Friday Stuff

Yesterday I paid tribute to one American hero, and today I want to pay tribute to another – happy 100th birthday to Issur Danielovitch, better known by his stage name (here), the man who probably did more to break the Hollywood blacklist than anyone else…it would be almost too easy to include a clip from “Spartacus,” so I’m including the next-to-last scene from “Paths of Glory” instead, one of the finest anti-war films ever made – another film recommendation I’d like to offer is for “Trumbo,” with Bryan Cranston’s great turn in the lead; Douglas is performed in spot-on fashion by Dean O’Gorman (more here)…

…and I know I’m behind on this a bit, but Alex Witt speaks here with Dem U.S. House Rep Adam Schiff about Trump and China/Taiwan (I don’t have an opinion one way or another on Gen. Mattis, but the fact that he’s supported by President-Elect Fergus Laing automatically makes me suspicious – really stupid question from Witt about Russia and the hacking related to the election at about 5:40, and yeah, I think it’s fair to say that – another dumb question from Witt later saying that the Clinton team said that the Trumpsters won because of appeal to white supremacists – if I were to try and source that, I’m sure I’d find that isn’t true…what starts off as a good interview goes bad in a hurry, but I’m including this because I genuinely respect Rep. Schiff)…

…and the more I hear about the smear campaign organized against Dem U.S. House Rep Keith Ellison (running to be head of the DNC), the more I think that he’s the right man for the job (NSFW)…

...and I give you Ari Melber on “Jade Helm” and other right-wing nutjob conspiracy theories, leading to “fake news” (speaking with Michael Beschloss)…

…continuing, Thom Hartmann tells us the heroic story of Sophie Scholl, executed by the Nazis, author of the letter against them he reads, leading into Danielle Muscato torching Generalissimo Trump on Twitter…

...and K.O. returns with commentary #9 in his series "The Resistance" (NSFW - what a nightmare - oh, and by the way, I’m getting really, REALLY tired of hearing about how Dems are supposed to now completely and utterly suck up to elderly white conservatives who still have their fee fees hurt over the last election even though The Big Orange Cheetoh (ostensibly, THEIR GUY!) “won” – I’ve got a two-word response, and it’s not “happy birthday”… )...

Update 12/11/16: And with that in mind, I give you this great post mortem.

...and here are two seasonal selections.

Thursday Stuff

RIP John Glenn – truly, a hero has left us…

…and I have to admit that it takes a lot to shock yours truly, but this clip genuinely did, and for a good reason (here)…

Update 12/9/16: And speaking of gun insanity, I give you this (Alex Jones and his foul ilk should all roast on their respective spits in hell one day).

…also, this great report from Rachel Maddow explains exactly why our leaders are supposed to avoid financial entanglements with foreign heads of state and/or their governments, something that Generalissimo Trump cares not a fig about of course…

…and kudos to this lady from The Weather Channel for putting the global warming denialists in their place – a well done, in-you-face response to those Breitbart idiots claiming that the earth is cooling…you want to know the main reason why we’re in the electoral mess we currently face? It’s because of idiot low-information voters and our for-the-most-part utterly useless corporate media that refuses to push back as the person does in this video (you know, with actual “facts,” which most conservatives are apparently allergic to - have to crank the volume a bit)…

…also, RIP Greg Lake (don’t usually include this song because it’s heard in plenty of other places also, but it seems appropriate for the occasion)…

…as does this remembrance (here).

Wednesday Stuff

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor

…and just as a reminder, Generalissimo Trump actually embodies what we once fought against (my guess is that, if our PEOTUS ever actually faced waterboarding for real, he'd evacuate everything in his entire wretched body)…

…and I happened to come across this item on Turner Classic Movies the other day, so I thought I would share it…submitted for your approval, as somebody once said, from here – and if you think this is a convention of supporters of President-Elect Fergus Laing, I don’t think it’s your imagination…and no, they’re not shouting “Trump” – also...I also have a feeling that it's no accident that Peter Sellers tried to effect a Southern accent - and no, I don’t know enough about the story of Leonard Peltier to say anything about him one way or the other…

…and Samantha Bee gives her take on BS “news” (NSFW); glad to see the focus on this, though it’s quite probably too late, unfortunately...

…and here is a little soul for the season…

…and I try to work in at least one new tune every year at this time – not sure if any others will make it; we’ll see.

Tuesday Stuff

Kudos to Brian Stelter for these observations here on how those who make a living at this sort of thing should cover President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh, though I guess it would have been better if we’d heard this earlier…and as far as lies go, I don’t know anyone who died because Number 44 mistakenly said you could keep your doctor, as opposed to “Mission Accomplished” (and speaking of the political/media/industrial complex, I thought this was well done by Rick Perlstein)…

…and I guess what Stelter is talking about contributes somewhat to the situation that Cenk and Ana discuss here (yeah, I guess it really is a head-smacking momentby Alysin Camerota, but should we be all that surprised by now?)…

…and yes, this stuff really is serious (NSFW)…

…and there are times when I need to hear these tunes as a bit of an escape, and this is one of those times.

Monday Stuff

Rachel Maddow brought us a bit of a history lesson here on how presidential “tours” basically don’t end up going so well, within the context of Trump/Pence supposedly taking a “victory lap” after the travesty that took place almost a month ago (and once more, imagine the corporate media caterwauling if a Dem did something like this…by the way, the League of Nations failed for a few reasons, and one in particular was Henry Cabot Lodge, a Repug U.S. Senator who would create the obstructionist template utilized by Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao, among others)…

…also, K.O. is back to tell us that he believes that his personal Email was hacked, and you’ll never guess by who (personally, I was always suspicious of the fact that, over the conventions last summer, my page views went absolutely nuts; I’d love to think it was from people who were in love with this little blog o’mine, but was I being spied on to find out if it was worth it to try and “hack” this site? And was the decision made that it WASN’T worth it after all (que sera sera)? Who knows.)…

…and I know I’ve ridiculed people who voted for Trump, and I still do, but I’m genuinely sorry for Teena Colebrook; I’m hard-hearted on this I know, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

And I have a few reactions to the comment from Colebrook that she “doesn’t trust government anymore,” as noted here.

I don’t know if she said that because she was raised as a Republican all her life and was conditioned into thinking that they were “the only game in town” based on that as well as the opinions of other family members, friends and/or acquaintances (with their hero, The Sainted Ronnie R, decrying for many years how supposedly awful “government” is). Maybe she’s just a person who, commendably, was taught how important it is to be responsible and self-reliant and just gravitated to the “R” party thinking they still embodied those virtues despite the fact that they’ve been thoroughly hijacked by Teahadists/racists (they often overlap as far as I’m concerned), know-nothings and corporatist greedhead monsters.

Either that or she actually paid attention to the Democratic presidential campaign and just felt utterly suffocated by the relentlessly negative coverage of Hillary Clinton and received not the slightest inkling of the fact that she would have been a demonstrably better president for her than the misery set to be sworn in on January 21st (and once more, I’m not saying that to let the Clinton campaign off the hook for what I would call their utter failure to realize just how heavily the deck was stacked against them, unfair as that is I’ll admit, and fashion in response an imaginative campaign that would have utterly shattered the corporate media shorthand manufactured against the Dem nominee, though I certainly don’t hold Clinton responsible for the James Comey garbage, the flood of fake news, and the Russian hacking which, as far as I’m concerned will be proved beyond all doubt eventually).

In short, if I were to talk to Teena Colebrook, I would ask her without a trace of snark why she said she “doesn’t trust government anymore.” I would do this if, for no other reason, because it would be an educational opportunity for the Democrats (too late now, though, I’ll admit)...

...and here is another seasonal favorite.
