Friday Stuff

NBC Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel tells us what the rest of the world thinks of the “Gropenfuhrer”…

…and what does it tell you about how far the prestige of this country has fallen already under President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac that the mention of a quote from Number 45 elicits chortles of laughter (and over this too)?...

...and "Spicey" blaming Obama for Mike Flynn is almost too precious for words (Obama fired Flynn, by the way – keep that in mind as you watch this nonsense...more here)…

…and K.O. reminds us of the accomplishments of President Fergus Laing in his first 100 days – a whole bunch of nuthin’, at least for those poor saps who helped to get him elected…

…and it seems like the very mention of the name Mike Flynn is enough to make Repugs scatter, and the latest one is U.S. House Rep Jason “OMIGOD Suddenly I Have A Chronic, Ongoing Foot Issue That Forces Me To Step Down Even Though I Apparently Don’t Even Have Crutches” Chaffetz…

...and this tells us that a Confederate monument was removed from New Orleans – white guy has a freakout (NSFW – and by the way, Dave Rubin is apparently a lapsed Democrat or liberal, or something, who has now apparently gone over to the “dark side”...best of luck to Sam Seder and the Majority Report on their fundraising)...

(Oh, and by the way, I realize nobody gives a damn about my “hot takes,” and that’s fine – I’m not sure if I do, to tell you the truth – but here is what I think about this story; a certain Barack H. Obama is no longer president of the United States, so he should be able to earn anything and however much he wants.

And I’m probably being inconsistent here, because I may have objected to monies Dubya, for one, earned upon leaving office. I apologize for that, though I will say that my objection was based on anything he did while trying to burnish some imaginary “cred” at the expense of the military he wrecked with his war of choice in Iraq and not so much over the amount that he was paid. In shorter words, if he had made money pitching coloring books, for example, I wouldn’t have had an objection.)

…and I have to admit that I had a hard time with making a musical selection today between two choices that I thought were pretty good, so I said the hell with it – here are both of them:

First, happy belated 75th birthday to the one-and-only “Babs”…Eric Cartman jokes and all, somebody with more “balls” than most men when it comes to being a loyal Democrat…

…and here’s another more current selection – a little twangy (word?), but a nice little rockin’ tune for the weekend.

Thursday Stuff

Gee, what’s today’s fresh new outrage from Generalissimo Trump? Why, he wants to ruin our national monuments, of course...

…and oh yeah, buh-bye to Net Neutrality also (still proud of yourselves, anyone who had anything whatsoever to do with installing this dangerous clown in An Oval Office? Gosh, Hillz was SO CORRUPTED BY BIG MONEY and would have been SOOO MUCH WORSE, RIGHT??!!)…

…and yeah, didn’t the Nazis literally make judges knuckle under to them too? And no, when it comes to the “Trumpsters,” I don’t think this is an exaggeration…

…and this is a few days after the news cycle I’ll admit (re, Bill Maher on Mars), but I think it bears repeating (NSFW – love the Budweiser remark in particular, and that great Eagles tune too)…

…and that’s probably an appropriate transition to this (kudos to CO and CA)…

…and here is a bit more of a contemporary selection that I thought was pretty cool.

Wednesday Stuff

Nope, never a good thing when you’re prez and Tricky Dick is invoked, and you haven’t even been on the job for 100 days, is it?...

…and Generalissimo Trump sure did a 180-degree turn, so to speak, on executive orders, didn’t he…

..and nice work by NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to oppose President Big Orange Cheetoh and support the Clean Power Plan...

…and kudos to the crowd-sourced journalism that led to shedding more light on the donors contributing to the inaugural of President Fergus Laing…

…and what the hell – I know he’s gone from his 8:00 PM EST perch on Fix Noise, but I think Billo deserves another shot (and of course, the Formerly Roger Ailes BS Factory is keeping up the tradition as you might expect – NSFW)…

…and I also know I’ve lapsed into “moldy oldie” territory with my video selections and I need to make them more current, but I have to get this one in also particularly since it came from this film, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, believe it or not (“just one word – plastics”).

Tuesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow talks with Matt Apuzzo of the New York Times about the latter’s reporting on FBI Director James Comey (ZOMG! HILLZ EMAILS!!! But the "Gropenfuhrer" and ties to Russia during the campaign? Whatev...)…

...and yeah, Preznit Fergus Laing sure is "nuckin futz," isn't he? (even though we already knew that of course)...

...and Seth Meyers tells us about Generalissimo Trump's first 100 days (praying for it to be his LAST, of course, with no implied threat of violence, I hasten to add, only the governmental or legal process of removal)...

…and I admit that I never thought that bringing economic pressure to bear against President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac could somehow force him out of the White House (as K.O. posits), but if it took down Billo

…and Thom Hartmann opines on pop-up nuisances – boy, is he right (and a GREAT discussion of what actually constitutes news, given Jimmy Wales’s recent initiative to create a crowd-funded news site…and to be honest, I don’t know if I would chip in for it or not…and once again, not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I’ve read PLENTY from right-wing web sites, enough to know how provably wrong they usually are)…

…and today marks what would have been the 100th birthday of legendary jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.

Monday Stuff

I can do without his newfound affection for GMOs, but otherwise, kudos to Bill Nye for his speech at the science rally in D.C. on Saturday, which also produced the sign above (and again, what does it tell you about this country that we even need to have something like that - more here, here, here and here)…

…and Sam Seder tells us that Mandy Patinkin says that “Homeland” will be a little more Muslim-aware, or something (don’t watch the show), and the Foxies lost their sh*t in response; of course, a “PC agenda” is ALWAYS the culprit as far as they’re concerned – and when it comes to starting a fire based on somebody’s (at least, perceived) religion, I give you this

…and Thom Hartmann tells us how Dow Chemical is trying to ruin our health as well as our kids (and again, these cretins contributed to Fergus Laing’s inaugural, featuring a lot of “dark money” that we’ll never be able to trace, so this is just ROI as far as they’re concerned)…

…and first, Generalissimo Trump’s “immunity gnome” of an AG attacks Hawaii (which is, after all, our 50th state)…

…and not satisfied with that, Sessions then attacks NYC and its police force (just say “oops” and get our, Jeffy)…

…and RIP Sylvia Moy, the legendary Motown songwriter and producer who helped to bring us this tune among others.

Saturday Stuff

(I guess it would have been more appropriate to have this pic for 4/20…oh well.)

To begin, I give you “This Day In Doomsy History” from 4/22/10, in which Not Your Father’s Republican Party in Congress was doing all it could to jam up the works while the Dems ran Congress and the White House, for however brief a time…I don’t know how many times it needs to be pointed out that these characters have absolutely no desire to act in the best interest in the majority of this country, and that would be the party of Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao of course…

…and c’est dommage – it looks like Alex Jones is having some domestic issues and is now pleading for privacy – I think Stephen Colbert gives him the response he deserves here…

…and Jon Ossoff will continue to need our help for the next round of trying to win the GA-06 U.S. House seat versus Karen Handel, who has a bit of a reputation I must say…

…and speaking of political hacks, it looks like President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac’s choice to head the FCC is about as bad as you thought he might be (totally not answering the questions of Sens. Udall and Hassan of course)…

...and there was a time when I would have heard a media person in another country make a remark like this about our president and rally 'round the occupant of An Oval Office in response - not with the clown currently taking space there now (for anyone else this would be unbelievable, but for Number 45, lather, rinse, repeat...here)...

...and Happy Earth Day everybody - to learn more about the March for Science (and who would've thought we would have ever needed to do that in this country?), click here.

Friday Stuff

As someone more clever than I noted, I guess departing Repug U.S. House Rep Jason Chaffetz wants to spend more time looking through Hillary Clinton’s Emails at home (and yes, I believe there is a lot more to this also – and Cenk’s dismissive tone is entirely appropriate)…

…and K.O. tells us about Generalissimo Trump demanding the royal treatment he believes he deserves – what a laughing stock (ends at about 7:54 but runs long for some reason...and in a related story as they say, this is a TREMENDOUS post by Mark Sumner about our own 100 days in response)…

…and I think Rachel Maddow is actually reaching a bit here by starting with the whole Nigerian cash thing, though she’s absolutely spot-on about the Trumpster slush fund – didn’t give much of a thought to Venezuela, I have to admit, as well as the person from that country basically paying off the "Gropenfuhrer" to lift sanctions...as usual, a Repug - #45 in this case - looks into a mirror and sees everyone's reflection except his own...

...and don't look now, but the "Trumpsters" just deported a "DREAM-er" (and why the hell would we believe anything from this band of compromised idiots and frauds - another ridiculous edit to end an MSNBC video again...more here)...

...and I wonder if Repug U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake will take the hint from his fellow Repug Jason Chaffetz after this...

...and happy 70th birthday to Iggy Pop (hot and cold on this guy, I have to admit).

Thursday Stuff

(That T.R. sure knew a thing or two, didn't he?).

Yeah, the “Gropenfuhrer” just loves it when everyone tells him how great he supposedly is, eating it up like yet another slide of chocolate cake…

And oh yeah, that stinky Obama sure “failed” on foreign policy during his presidency, didn’t he? He sure “failed” when it came to keeping us safe, didn’t he? And what happened when the president before Obama was in charge, and that would be another Republican?

Let me think real hard, OK (and read all about this because, tragically, NOTHING is beyond the reach of the “Trumpsters”).

(And by the way, Chuckles Krauthammer of Jeff Bezos Daily feathered his comfortable nest quite well by pillorying Number 44 every single chance he could get – what a pathetic human being, Krauthammer I mean.)

…and K.O. reminds us that President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac’s perception of reality is apparently getting more and more tenuous – charming

…and is anyone in the mood for some genuine outrage in response to all of this craziness? Well, the Rev. Dr. William Barber is only too happy to oblige…

…and I’m not at all averse to giving Billo another shot on his way out the door – sorry to get a little dark here, but I think the point needs to be made that O’Reilly still draws a breath (unlike him, not trying to incite violence I hasten to add), but Dr. George Tiller is very, very dead, killed in his church by a lunatic goaded by Billo even though Tiller made a living largely from performing a medically legal procedure...

…and I wouldn’t buy a book from Bill Orally even if I needed something as a liner for my cat’s litter box…

…and I’ve put up that great Crosby, Stills and Nash song plenty of times for this day, but I’m not going to do that now – instead, I’ll wish a very belated happy 55th birthday to John Bell of Widespread Panic…hope it was a good one.

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Wednesday Stuff

I give you Rachel Maddow’s “A” block last night about the foreign policy gaffes of the “Gropenfuhrer” (as well as those of “Spicey,” Mattis and McMaster all apparently not knowing where our carrier was that was supposedly bound for Korea)…

…and Maddow is back to talk with presidential historian Michael Beschloss about the Korean carrier group screwup (leading with JFK on the Cuban Missile Crisis – to think that Generalissimo Trump is now sitting in that office just about turns my stomach)…

(And by the way, would it have been nice for Jon Ossoff to clear the ridiculous 50-percent hurdle in the GA-06 special election and avoid the runoff with Repug Karen Handel, an avowed opponent of Planned Parenthood? Yes, but let’s look at it another way – Ossoff secured more votes in coming in first than all of his Republican challengers.

Yes, this means more appeals for money, and yes, this means more ridiculous attack ads from a political party with no desire or impulse of any kind whatsoever for forward-thinking leadership. But, though it’s about three-quarters of the proverbial loaf instead of the whole thing, it’s still progress, and we must not forget that.)

…and Joy-Ann Reid talks with David Sanger, on the Obama Administration’s evolving strategy against North Korea’s nukes (investing in cyber and other electronic attacks – you know, the way adult presidential leaders are supposed to handle stuff like this)…

…and I think Kyle K. is a little hard on Think Progress here, but he’s absolutely right about President Big Orange Cheetoh’s meely-mouthed “Buy American” posturing (NSFW)…

…and I give you another installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” from 4/18/12, with Fix Noise proclaiming a "war" on everything, though not women of course, something to keep in mind given Billo's recent travails...

…which ultimately led to the loss of his job today – couldn’t happen to a more deserving scumbag (here is a catchy little tune once more for the occasion – NSFW also).

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

Tuesday Stuff

K.O. introduces the possibility that President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac may have actually made a tape offering a deal with Putin to help #45 into An Oval Office (coming from the guy responsible for the “Access Hollywood” tape, I don’t doubt it – and I don’t care what anybody says; there’s “Apprentice” video out there that is being squelched because it would make our demented child-king look even worse)…

...and Lawrence O’Donnell tells us about the “Gropenfuhrer” and China, ending with some clips of Tom Cotton and Dean Heller getting what-for at their respective town halls (and oh yeah, all of those protesting were “paid”…sure they were)…

…and there’s just So Much Winning when it comes to Fergus Laing and gun sales – cry me a freaking river…

…and by the way, the whole “tax returns under audit” thing isn’t just a typical lie from “Donald Drumpf,” but it’s a particularly stupid one at that (here)…

…and I hope all of you who did anything whatsoever to enable the Big Orange Fraud to run roughshod over all of our lives continue to be proud of yourselves (and yes, I realize that DeVos is merely a symptom of this disease)…

...and RIP Bruce Langhorne, the inspiration behind this song.

Monday, April 17, 2017

Monday Stuff

(I particularly liked this sign from the tax day marches on Saturday, by the way - more here.)

And speaking of Saturday's protests, here is a report from the CBC News...

...and thanks to His Holiness for this...

...and from the sacred to the profane, Kyle tells us that President Big Orange Cheetoh is enshrouding even more secrecy (NSFW)…

…and here is Rachel Maddow with a report last week on what I would call the emerging foreign-policy wreckage from Generalissimo Trump (whatever minimal approval Fergus Laing will get from this will evaporate in a hurry if things backfire, and given the “Trumpster” track record, I’d put my money on that sadly)…

…and with a nod to the prior clip, John Oliver gives us his analysis on Trump dropping the MOAB last week (NSFW also...and with the typical Fix Noise cheerleading of course - guess I'm just a pointy-headed liberal for noting that this took place during Holy Week and Passover, not that our clueless meat sack of a "president" would care of course)…

…and given the wrapup in the prior video, I probably should have thought to include this song before now, but better late than never I guess (somewhat outdated topical references and all – “can I buy another slice of real estate?”).

Happy Easter 2017

A little late I know, but may you all have a happy and blessed Easter. If you don't observe anything, may you have a happy and blessed long weekend.

Friday Stuff

To find out more about a march in your area, please click here (and more is here, including David Cay Johnston on why this matters).

And maybe I’m putting my proverbial tin foil hat on and finding black helicopters or something, but I think it’s genuinely weird that I CAN’T FIND ANY FREAKING VIDEO ANYWHERE BY ANYBODY about this!

Well, when it comes to financial matters, I have to admit that I’m going back and forth a bit on this story, and maybe the bull artist (literally) has a leg to stand on, but sorry – I just don’t see that at the moment (and Matt Lauer makes a funny - tee hee...GMAFB)…

Update 4/15/17: Maybe it isn't my imagination after all (here).

…and speaking of financial matters, if Repug U.S. House Rep Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma had any brains, which he apparently doesn’t, he would have kept his mouth shut about his salary – see, Thom Hartmann used that Google thingie to find out exactly WHO DOES pay him besides the salary he draws for existing as a shameless corporate shill, and yeah, it’s about as bad as you might imagine (starts off with the United Airlines story of the doctor dragged off the plane)…

…and in case anyone thought Repug idiocy was exclusive to the U.S. House, Kyle K. tells us about a guy in the North Carolina state house who found a way to equate Abraham Lincoln with Hitler – for real (NSFW)…

…and Rachel Maddow tells us here about “immunity gnome” and coward Jeff Sessions (can’t take credit for that nickname) and the case of Maribel Trujillo, who was snatched up by ICE apparently for the “crime” of being a loving mother and caring for her daughter (can’t imagine how those cretins at ICE can draw a breath without pangs of guilt…don’t know why our side can’t do a better job apparently of drawing a line between horrors like this and the wingnut “sanctuary cities” garbage)…

…and I don’t have anything particularly brilliant to say about this, but I only want to point out how hilarious this tweet is from Cliff Schecter in response (re, Ben Carson getting stuck in the elevator while Alonzo Mourning waited)…

…and returning to the “Gropenfuhrer,” I love Rick Wilson’s takedown of Eric Trump, who has no business even being in any kind of a political dialogue (“The emerging picture about Russia never gets better for them – it always gets worse.” Indeed)…

…and Joy Reid tells us about Trump health code violations at Mar-a-Lago (and why is that oddly appropriate?)…

…and partly with tomorrow’s marches in mind, I give you the following tune (we did better than expected this year – hope you do and did too).

Thursday, April 13, 2017

Thursday Stuff

Oh wow, it looks like Generalissimo Trump dropped a great big bomb half a world away (the context that matters as far as I’m concerned is here...and $16 million for this monstrosity?). I guess he sure is “presidential” now, isn’t he, Fareed and Bri?

Here are my questions in response:
  • How does this endanger our military in that part of the world?
  • Were other neighboring nations consulted (I mean, if not, then there is sure to be some kind of reprisal)?
  • What kind of intelligence did we receive telling us that that was a high-value target?
  • More than anything, as far as I’m concerned, this was a distraction from the utterly disastrous interview Number 45 gave to Maria Bartiromo (I definitely share Kerry Eleveld’s opinion here that, as far as I’m concerned, the impeachment clock should start ticking...more here)…

…and here is Rachel Maddow’s “A” block last night (it’s more than just the fact that Trump is a liar – it would be “news” if he actually told the truth about something, anything! – but anyone who spouts the easily-provably-wrong nonsense that he does can’t be playing with a full deck, including his statement that our military isn’t in Syria when they very definitely are, and very much in harm’s way…also, what does it tell you that what is essentially a politically Communist government in China does a better job of communicating with its citizens than this bunch that currently occupies An Oval Office? And the segment Maddow teased at the end had to do with Rex Tillerson’s total non-response while the Russian foreign minister berated reporter Carol Morello of the WaPo, which is again typical for these cretins - the Trumpsters I mean...don't know why this is surprising given how this bunch treated reporters during the campaign last year)…

…and “President Jackass” works for me too…

…and it looks like we have a wingnut circular firing squad among the Trump supporters and President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac over his Syria attack, which he probably was trying to push off the front page with today’s development - pass the popcorn...

…and Kyle K. tells us about Jeremy Scahill giving our corporate media the treatment it deserves over the Syrian air strike (NSFW)…

…and I don’t know if you can classify this as “world” music or not, but I think it sounds pretty damn good.

    Wednesday, April 12, 2017

    Wednesday Stuff

If there was ever an occasion in which our corporate media deserves nothing but ridicule, it’s over Generalissimo Trump’s most recent Syrian missile strike, as K.O. forcefully points out (NSFW)…

…and yeah, it’s nice to see that scumbag Wilson get what he truly deserves here…

…and that would be Joe Wilson, the charter member of the “WWADD” party (Bill Maher explains here – NSFW also)…

Update: I have a feeling that I'll be adding a lot to supplement this video, and my first item is here.

…and again, to help elect Jon Ossoff for Georgia’s 6th congressional district, click here (and as you might expect, the Repugs are dumping all of the slime they can generate over him because they don’t have any good ideas, or motivation even, to help solve the problems they primarily created – the only way they can hold onto power is through games and nonsense because their policies are garbage…let’s defeat that for a change, people, OK?)…

…and I give you once more “This Day In Doomsy History” from 4/12/16 here (just a short trip this time to relive once more Sam Bee’s adventures with Eddie The Eagle of the NRA…maybe a bit inopportune to put this up in light of the latest San Bernadino shooting, but I don’t think there should be a moratorium on ridiculing the NRA for continuing to act as purveyors of death and destruction)…

…and RIP J. Geils of The J. Geils Band, of course.

    Tuesday, April 11, 2017

    Tuesday Stuff

So exactly which “Holocaust center” are we talking about, Spicey? Buchenwald? Dachau?

And yes, he apologized, but this is mind-numbingly stupid even for a “Trumpster” (the Holocaust Center is a MEMORIAL, not the place where these horrors actually took place, you transient speck of poo)…

…and I thought this was a particularly good segment from Rachel Maddow last night about how the FBI wants to question a Russian hacker who was apprehended in Spain and, apparently, was involved in the presidential campaign of Generalissimo Trump…

...and just remember that this is yet another time not to politicize gun violence (removing my tongue from my cheek - and in a related story, if this woman is found guilty, she should get sent up for a LOOOONG time)...

…and here is an ad for Dem Jon Ossoff, running in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District (election is a week from today)…

…and yeah, right from today’s headlines, as they say – the story is awful for all of the reasons noted by Jimmy Kimmel, but good job to make humor out of this mess (and why is this not surprising? And do you know his ratings have actually been pretty good since that NY Times story - never a shortage of mental defectives in this country, apparently)…

…and does this put you in the mood to hear a song about air travel? Well, too bad – here it is anyway (and this year marks the 40th anniversary of this tune, for what it’s worth).

    Monday, April 10, 2017

    Monday Stuff

I give you Repug Rep Jody Hice, who claimed that God believes America should be a white Christian nation by birthright, apparently (I guess Native Americans didn’t get the proverbial memo - more on David Barton is here)…

…and echoing that, Kyle K. tells us that the “fundies” believe that Generalissimo Trump was chosen by The Almighty – I wouldn’t be too sure of that (NSFW)…

...and K.O. tells us what we’d be looking at if we tried to stage a new election (and he’s absolutely right about voting out everyone in the “Trump party” until we get a chance to do that for real in 2020, assuming events don’t intervene somehow before then...and I don't mean a VIOLENT event, I hasten to add)…

…and what a pathetic joke that “Nooners” actually won a Pulitzer Prize (here…and how ridiculous is that comment about the alleged IRS Obama “scandal” given what’s going on with President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac…David Fahrenthold definitely deserves it, though – nicely done)…

…and Bernie Sanders reminds us once more of his plan for tuition-free college (and kudos to New York state for getting on board with that here)…

…and happy belated 70th birthday to Steve Howe of Yes.

    Saturday, April 08, 2017

    Saturday Stuff

Lawrence O’Donnell “goes there” on the “Trumpster” Syrian attack, with David Corn, Rick Wilson, and Indira Lakshmanan (Trump has “the attention span of a gnat on meth”…good one by Wilson…and by the way)…

    Update: And...

…and it looks like the tourism biz is down BIGLY! under the “Gropenfuhrer” (color me shocked – not)…

…and it also looks like the thin-skinned attitude of President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac has transferred to at least one of his governmental agencies also (and kudos to Twitter for standing up the way they did)…

…and despite everything, let’s not forget that this is the weekend, after all.

    Friday, April 07, 2017

    Friday Stuff

I think it’s time for some hand-wringing over all of the stuff with the “Gropenfuhrer” and the Syria missile strike.

As much as it pains me to do this (and it truly does), I’m going to give President Big Orange Cheetoh a bit – but just a bit – of leeway on this. Yes, I’m extending something to him that NEVER would have been extended from Republicans to Hillary Clinton (they probably would have formed about half a dozen “oversight”-related committees in response to shamelessly politicize look into it), but at a time like this, I think we’re supposed to support the president (or, as perhaps their leading icon exalted by them to almost god-like status once put it, “trust but verify”).

But we should never forget what Trump is. Nor should we forget how he got there. And the fact that he SHOULDN'T EVEN BE THERE STILL.

And it’s EASY to blow stuff up. The REAL test will comes when Assad inevitably responds (he’s one of the worst butchers of our age, but he’s not stupid either), and we’ll see what Fergus Laing and his minions do THEN.

And we should also never forget this (and this, and this, and this...and oh yeah, this now too)…

Update: So much for the leeway (here).

…and yeah, I guess this is about par for the course, as they say, for Brian “Iraqi Helicopter” Williams (more here, and I honestly thought Fareed Zakaria knew better…more fool me, I guess)…

…and while I think Generalissimo Trump most definitely has corporate media enablers, Bill Maher recently commented pretty expertly IMHO on the miscreants who populate the cabinet of Number 45 and “fluff” him pretty regularly (and did anyone besides me notice, by the way, that the title of every one of Maher’s “New Rules” was a takeoff on a Beatles’ song? And NSFW - here)…

…and speaking of the “Trumpsters,” I thought this was pretty clever…

...and speaking of kids, I thought Ahh-nold found the proverbial nut here...

…and you’d better believe that this issue affects kids too (oh, and by the way, about that supposedly adorable guy in the red sweater – here)…

…and kudos to Seth Meyers for his treatment of Fix Noise here, including Billo and his “best bud” in An Oval Office (speaking of corporate media sycophants, alluding to Brian Williams earlier…more here and a "golden oldie" is here)…

…and when it comes to “Donald Drumpf” and the Syria stuff, I couldn’t help but think of this song (context may be off a bit, but close enough for me).

    Thursday, April 06, 2017

    Thursday Stuff

Yeah, I think this says it – once more (I guess for nostalgia at this point), I give you Tweety (here...kudos to the Dems, though, for putting up the fight over this that they were supposed to - not much else you can do when the majority of the voters of this country, in their disastrous, mind-numbing stupidity, decide to give all of the reins of power to movement conservative Republicans)…

…and speaking of mind-numbing stupidity, this tells us about the “extreme vetting” for those visiting this country and returning from overseas travel proposed by the regime of Generalissimo Trump…

…and K.O. gives us a bit of a history lesson on John Dean’s Watergate past and compares it to the antics of registered foreign lobbyist and former NSA member Michael Flynn trying to get immunity; I would buy into what Olbermann is telling us here if the Repug congressional “leadership” were smart enough to figure out that they don’t need immunity for Flynn to get Fergus Laing out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but I don’t think they know enough to grasp that – I’m wondering if they know enough to find their own metaphorical rear ends with both hands (love to be wrong)…

...and yeah, that stinky Obama sure wasted a lot of time playing golf, didn't he?...

...and boy, there sure are some snowflakes in Minnesota aren't there, and I'm not talking about the weather (but state house Repug Rep Rob Dettmer in particular, along with Greg Davids, noted here)...

…and it looks like Alabama Repug Gov. Robert Bentley is going DOOOWWWWNNNN, which is quite a feat given that Repugs run the whole damn state (“the devil fools with the best-laid plans,” as the song reminds us)…

…and somehow, I have a feeling that this is one way that Don Rickles would want to be remembered (I could use a laugh after the Gorsuch garbage)…

...and speaking of passings, RIP to Rosie Hamlin.

    Wednesday, April 05, 2017

    Wednesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow tells us how the “Gropenfuhrer” is going to stage these utterly ridiculous photo-ops and carry forward with his REAL agenda behind closed doors, which should shock absolutely no one paying attention to this stuff (including escalating our military involvement in Syria, by the way…kudos to all of you idiots who helped get Big Orange Cheetoh elected, who will do nothing about the gas attacks in that country from the criminal regime in charge and thus make us more at risk for terrorism from the people who actually survive this stuff)…

…and K.O. is back with the next-to-latest in his “Resistance” series; I never thought too much of the “meta data” angle to all of this – and what kind of money was at stake, to say nothing of political influence – but fortunately, Olbermann did…

…and Chris Hayes talks to Dem U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan from New Hampshire about the latest idiocy from our Tiny-Handed Egomaniac-In-Chief on drug addiction, trying to gut treatment funding from the ACA (and I couldn’t track down the beginning of this clip that tells us that Soon-To-Be-Gone-At-Long-Last Governor Bully of NJ was given some kind of a title signifying responsibility in this matter, though of course I’m sure all he’ll do is go fetch fast food for himself and Generalissimo Trump)…

…and speaking of drugs, John Oliver brings us a fairly comprehensive report on the state of pot in this country (NSFW)…

…and as they are with just about everything else, California is blazing a trail on this issue…

...and RIP Lonnie Brooks (tune ends at about 4:20).

    Tuesday Stuff

(Definitely not a ‘Nats fan, but nice work here I must say – from Jason Charter on Twitter…)

Chris Hayes talks with Richard Painter, ethics lawyer under Dubya, about all the ways that Number 45 and his regime are breaking the law (and here is more on that “left-wing blog” Pro Publica)…

…and Kyle K. tells us the latest about those cretins at the “Center for Medical Progress” (NSFW)…

...and yeah, I would also say that satirists have figured out how to treat the "Gropenfuhrer" (here – it’s funny, but the reason why the “Trumpsters” are pulling this garbage definitely isn’t of course…NSFW also)…

…including Tina Fey – the fact that 44 percent of college-educated women actually voted for Fergus Laing is, to me, partly a comment on the unbelievable ineptitude of the Hillary Clinton campaign; of course, it’s also a testimony to all of the Russia hacking, social media garbage and FBI criminality too IMHO…

…and wow, is Oklahoma Repug U.S. House Rep Markwayne Mullin a snowflake for this, or what – all kerfuffled over a red card (and I find it appalling too, but for a completely different reason)...

Update 4/13/17: You're in a metaphorical hole, but keep digging anyway (here)...

…and there are certain songs I play on certain dates for a reason, and this is one of them.

    Monday Stuff

(The screen shot is a nod to this latest garbage from Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao, by the way.)

Rachel Maddow talks with Clinton Watts, former FBI special agent, on campaign coordination between the Big Orange Cheetoh and his minions with Russian propaganda in the 2016 election (more here)…

..and Sen. Al Franken proposes some great legislation here to fight the drug company bastards – doesn’t stand the proverbial snowball’s chance in hell without a Democratic congress, though…

…and speaking of hell (from a heat perspective anyway), apparently this passes for a scientific congressional gathering in the era of Generalissimo Trump…

…and kudos to the city of Seattle and Mayor Ed Murray for this; the whole “sanctuary cities” conservative talking point is bullshit and should be called out for what it is as forcefully as possible – it’s another non-issue from a right-wing think tank meant to scare white people and intimidate non-white people (here - more here)…

…and this is how change starts to happen, with people such as Heather calling into Thom Hartmann and saying she’s going to be a precinct committee person in Maricopa County, AZ…

…and happy 68th birthday to RT (definitely not the Putin Propaganda Network – and this is the only version of this song that you will ever hear at this blog, from “1000 Years Of Popular Music”).

    Friday Stuff

"A presidency-ending development" - we can only hope at this point...

"...if you're seeking immunity, you're probably guilty of something..." - gee, ya' think (with Chris Hayes talks to Jeff Merkley about "Trumpster" Michael Flynn rolling over)...an update is here...

...and this tells us about Generalissimo Trump and the other members of his party trying to overturn "Obamacare" - "Democrat" support, huh? F-you, you big orange turd...

…and Sen. Elizabeth Warren talks about the Repugs and their typically wretched attacks on women’s health care, Title X in particular (more here)...

…and I thought this was a pretty good summation from Seth Meyers on the “Gropenfuhrer” and that toady meat sack Devin Nunes and the destruction of the U.S. Russia/Trump investigation (I think the "underwear" thing was tied to yesterday's Mike Capuano clip on this issue)…

…and alluding to the Meyers clip, this tells us how much congressional Repugs got paid to sell our browsing history, including "No Corporate Tax" Pat Toomey…

…and I’m sure this constitutes a circular firing squad on our part, something I typically don’t want to encourage, but I really have to give Sam Seder credit for giving Jimmy Dore the treatment he deserves for Dore’s bashing of Keith Ellison, though I probably would have taken it further than that – as far as I’m concerned, Dore is on his way to becoming the lefty equivalent of Alex Jones…what a clown (and yep, NSFW)…

…and today marks what would have been the 90th birthday of legendary labor leader Cesar Chavez, who, along with Dolores Huerta, was probably more responsible than anyone else for the founding of the United Farm Workers Union (here); this is a song about the tragedy that, arguably, led to the activism that formed the union.

    Thursday Stuff

Rachel Maddow tells us how blowing up the House investigation into Russia and Generalissimo Trump continues to serve the global ends of our ol’ buddy Vlad Putin…

…and kudos to Adam McElhaney for this (as well as Dem Rep. Mike Capuano)…

…and I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 3/28/12; this clip has to do with the Verizon broadband spectrum "deal" that was bad at the time (here) - some history to keep in mind considering that Congress just got rid of our internet privacy, as noted in the prior Capuano clip and here - the bill awaits signoff from President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac...

…and with all due respect to Sen. Blumenthal, I’m sure the Repugs in the U.S. Senate have been told to STFU on the dark money funders who want to see Neil “Liberals Are Addicted To The Courtroom” Gorsuch (here) appointed to the High Court of Hangin’ Judge JR…

Update 4/3/17: More sordid goings-on with Gorsuch here...

…and I give K.O. credit for keeping up these reports on “Donald Drumpf,” though I have to admit that they’re getting more depressing every day – as I asked once before, will it take this lunatic lobbing an ICBM or two into the Middle East before we FINALLY do something?...

…and I don’t think keeping a secret, especially about this, will be helpful whatsoever.

    Wednesday Stuff

By the way, when I refer to him as Generalissimo Trump, I’m not kidding…

…and I wonder if the "Gropenfuhrer" would actually pay attention to climate change if we tried to turn the whole thing into a “reality” TV show produced by President Tiny-Handed Egomaniac – naaah

…and here is Bill Maher’s “New Rule” for Trump voters (NSFW)...

...and K.O. is out with #51 (NSFW – the fact that 18 states in this country are presently trying to criminalize protest truly IS scary)...

…and in light of the latest dustup between Bill Orally and Dem U.S. House Rep Maxine Waters (started by the former of course), I thought Cenk here in particular did a good job of tracing the fevered, idiotic ranting of Billo, Alex Jones and other media clowns to their idiot followers (and I have a feeling that, if JB were still alive, he’d be waiting in the Fix Noise parking lot for the instigator of this nonsense, with evil intent…papa don’t take no mess)…

…and speaking of music, happy 50th birthday to John Popper of Blues Traveler (of Princeton, NJ - I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore).
