Thursday Stuff

I honestly believe that Obama gets it on Iraq, seeing as how he correctly didn’t support Dubya’s Not-So-Excellent Adventure in Mesopotamia to begin with, but I still think he needs to be reminded as to what we should and shouldn’t do; namely, get our people out and beat it out of there like a bat out of hell, which is pretty much a literal and not a figurative interpretation (here)…

...and to me, the payoff for this Jon Stewart bit on open carry comes with about 15 seconds left (and I think this clip is particularly timely in light of this and this)…

...and I know we're going to be talking about the Hobby Lobby stuff for a little while, but I think this is a particularly good segment because it involves knowledgeable and educated women talking about it as opposed to cowardly, meely-mouthed male politicians and pundits...

…and I hope anyone inclined to applaud Rand Paul for any imagined “glibertarian” impulse of his (opposing NSA spying, for example, as well as actually getting it right on Iraq as noted above) also keeps in mind moments like this one – to say that Paul doesn’t have the intellectual “heft” to serve in public office, period, let alone the U.S. Senate or the White House, is being kind (kudos to Rachel Maddow for doing here what our other corporate media should be doing on a routine basis)…

…and back to Chris Hayes – here, he talks with Monifa Bandele and Sam Seder about why we don’t take our vacations the way we should in this country (often because we don’t have the time to use in the first place)...

…and happy belated 65th birthday to “Professor” Roy Bittan of the “E” Street Band...

…and speaking of vacations, this is the beginning of mine – I hope to crank this up again on or about the 13th…hope you manage to enjoy the holiday weekend and the coming days as well.

Wednesday Stuff

The prospect of Ahmed Chalabi as the next leader of Iraq is the cherry on the icing of the rancid metaphorical cake that was Former President Nutball’s Not-So-Excellent Adventure in Mesopotamia – if Stanley Kubrick were still alive, he wouldn’t make a movie of this because it would be too absurd…

…and John Oliver provides some NSFW commentary on what corporations should have to put up with if the High Court of Hangin’ Judge JR really believes that they’re people too (here)…

Update 7/2/14: And from the "Hobby Lobby Hypocrisy File," I give you this (as CNN rightfully acknowledges, Mother Jones first reported the story last April).

…and even though he’s got a lot more work to do, I’m genuinely happy with the second-term “reboot” of President Obama 2.0, as exemplified by his response to “Man Tan” Boehner in the following clip…

...and here is today's regional weather forecast.

Monday Stuff

I wonder if “Strip Search Sammy” slipped the Hobby Lobby verdict under the door before all of The Supremes beat it out of town (as far as I’m concerned, 7:15 to 7:40 in the following clip cuts to the heart of the issue)…

…and by the way, what say you on this, Mikey the Beloved (as if I need to ask…as I and others have said, if men got pregnant, there would be so many “morning after” and contraception pills and devices on the market that you would trip over them, probably any time you wanted to purchase a firearm, and they would all be advertised in Maxim magazine and on Spike TV)…

…also, to do something about this, click here

…and I wonder what would happen if Hobby Lobby or Conestoga Wood tried to enforce a “religious objection” over whether or not their employees were allowed to own guns – you mean to tell me there no potential health care implication with that?...

…and given the awful Hobby Lobby ruling, good luck with paid maternity leave (NSFW)…

...and RIP Bobby Womack.
