Thursday Stuff

This TYT clip with Cenk and Ana tells us how Mark Meadows is flipping off people in need of relief from the COVID-19 economic downturn...and yeah, I totally get their point about the Dems not pushing back the way they should against Republican BS, and I understand that Biden is spending too much time “fishing where there is no fish,” as Sam Seder recently opined, but would it kill either of you (metaphorically of course) to point out that the Dem U.S. House PASSED THE FREAKING HEROES ACT IN MAY AND IT’S STUCK ON THE DESK OF GRIM REAPER MCCONNELL???!!

(I know I had that clip with Farron Cousins and Alex Kotch yesterday about Opt Out News, and God, I wish the Dem “brain trust” would reach out to them to get the news out about the good stuff the “D” party does so we could all read from the same goddamn script for a change. No, that doesn’t mean anybody should be a rubber stamp for ANY political party, but just start providing some damn context, that’s all!)...

...and with the prior clip in mind, I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 9/5/13, in which we are reminded of how the “pay no price, bear no burden” one percent crowd made out in the 2008 economic near-collapse (and yeah, past sure is prologue, isn’t it? More on the Institute for Policy Studies is here)...

...and speaking of the pandemic, Thom H. (in a pretty abbreviated clip) tells us how our ruling regime of frauds and incompetent bungling idiots is applying what you could call the Bobby McFerrin strategy (“don’t worry, be happy”) when discussing COVID to the media in this country on one hand, but telling the “true believers” that, yeah, this is a bigger mess than we ever imagined – sync is off again...

...oh, but there IS something Mango Mussolini is good at, unfortunately, and this video tells us all about it...

...and there are all kinds of reasons to utterly despise Generalissimo Trump’s fixer Bill Barr, but this video presents one that is very important (it's not just police shooting African Americans, though that's bad enough, but the issue is police killing them in whatever manner...and let's not forget this too)...

...and this fine Lincoln Project ad (and yes, I know these people are yesterday’s and probably tomorrow’s Republicans) is probably more apropos for Veterans Day, but it’s never a bad time to give our military the credit it deserves of course...

Update: I would say that this speaks volumes.

Update 9/11/20: As does this.

...and RIP legendary New York Mets pitcher Tom Seaver (here); man, did he ever own the Phillies in his day, but he owned a lot of other teams too...just because he wore the uni of the opposition doesn’t mean that his epic performances can’t be appreciated...oh, and let’s not forget this courageous moment also...

...and I now leave you with a tune from someone whose legend is also completely entwined with The Big Apple – this may be the end of my summer selections, though I could have one or two more...I’m shutting down for a few days and I hope to get this started again sometime next week.

Wednesday Stuff

It would seem that the Department of Homeland Security under the Gropenfuhrer is trying to quash a report alleging that Russia (here we go again) is trying to spread stuff on social media about the mental health of Dem presidential nominee Joe Biden (more here)...

...well, at least our former Vice President isn’t trying to fabricate stories about protestors attacking police with cans/bags of soup (definitely a “pot, meet kettle” moment when it comes to questioning someone’s mental capacity...one day this wretched orange nightmare will be over)...

...and how’s this for servile acquiescence to our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes...two judges on a panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that journalists aren’t protected when covering the protests in Portland (and did I mention that the two judges on the panel who ruled in favor of Mango Mussolini were appointed by Our Treasonous Orange Pretender in An Oval Office? And how the hell is that legal anyway?)...

...and Farron Cousins interviews reporter Alex Kotch, a co-founder of Opt Out News, who apparently is working on an app to bring together progressive news content – Cousins is right...to say something like this is long overdue is a huge understatement; the wingnutosphere figured out how to channel and monetize content awhile ago, and plenty of lefties have too I know...there have been attempts on our side to do this (as opposed to corporate media garbage that we all know well, sadly), but it just hasn’t come together, though hopefully we’ll all be able to get behind this and the proverbial rising tide really will lift all boats, as Kotch says...

...and I’m sorry that it took me a little while to acknowledge the passing of the fine actor Chadwick Boseman – it sounds like there was plenty of heroism in his back story as opposed to the iconic roles he played on film; to go from colon cancer at 43 is just too damn young...there’s so much that we could be doing better in this country on so many fronts, and preventative health care is near the top of that list as far as I’m concerned (and don't even imagine recasting the role of “Black Panther”!...Terry Jones, John Prine, Michael Brooks, now this...I'd better not ask if 2020 could suck any harder because I'm sure it will if I'm not careful)...

...and speaking of fine young men who left us at too young of an age, I think this tune is appropriate for this story.

Tuesday Stuff

Chris Hayes tells us that we’re in the canyon of danger, or whatever, when it comes to Our Tiny-Handed Treasonous Dictator – not trying to make light of his remarks concerning Our Orange Pestilence, but I guess I’m just a little fatigued by pointing out something so incredibly obvious...

...and it sure looks like some of Portland’s “finest” employed Gestapo-like tactics when a Black Lives Matter medic tried to help a “Patriot Prayer” protestor who apparently was shot and later died (Ana Kasparian discusses with Malaika Jabali)...

...and maybe Sam is being a little hard on Joe Biden here, but I think the TMR host has a point; ”They’re fishing in waters where there are no fish” indeed...GOD ALMIGHTY, I am SO SICK of DEMOCRATS TRYING TO CONVERT REPUBLICANS!!!!

Update 9/2/20: And boy, does that ever include this guy! ("Democrat" my ass).

(That being said, to be fair about trying to nail Biden on the stuff in Portland, it should be noted that he did come out against it and challenged 45 to do the same, which he hasn’t as far as I know; Biden played the “both sides” game a bit, and I wish he hadn’t, but the response was largely good anyway.)...

...in the interest of fairness, though, I thought this was a good ad (and this was also a well-written post, though of course we can't let up for an instant)...

...and Robert Reich reminds us once again (because it bears repeating) that corporate $$ is controlling our politics, and we should get behind all efforts from the Dems to fix this mess (I gave up on the “party of Lincoln” long ago on this stuff and a whole host of other issues also)...

...and I think the production values leave a thing or two to be desired here, but this is definitely a rockin' new tune.

Monday Stuff

I thought this was a good ad despite the hagiography in the matter of The Sainted Ronnie R...as far as I’m concerned, Tricky Dick put us on the path we’re on now, but Reagan accelerated it, Dubya took it still faster, and Generalissimo Trump kicked it all into overdrive of course...

...and I didn’t know about these powerful words from Doc Rivers, but good on him for speaking them...

...and David Doel did a good job here “bringing the receipts” in the matter of wingnut pundit BS defending Kyle Rittenhouse, the Kenosha, WI shooter accused of killing two people (the disgust in some of these commentaries is palpable and fully warranted as far as I’m concerned...mildly NSFW/H)...

...and Farron Cousins tells us about more Trumpian garbage on trying to investigate nursing homes in blue states only for housing COVID patients (and yeah, it happened in red states too as Cousins says...man, you couldn’t pay me enough $$ to come anywhere near Florida, and I wouldn’t go to Texas anyway...NSFW/H also)...

...and John and Francesca of The Damage Report tell us that, to the extent that the Trumpsters even have a COVID strategy, it looks like they’ve settled on herd immunity (and this Scott Atlas sounds like the latest Trumpian lunatic to spread more BS)...

...and I can’t believe that we recently recognized the 15th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina – time for this tune once more.
