Friday Stuff

Jon Stewart on Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao’s claim here that the GOP has actually helped the economy (and sorry, but I’m not laughing about the Afghanistan stuff)…

Update 1/12/15: Uh, yeah, I would say so (here).

…and man, has Thom Hartmann been on fire lately (here)…

...and kudos to Anonymous for this...

...and whaddaya say we rock out to start the weekend?

Thursday Stuff

I thought this was well-said by Jon Stewart in response to the Charlie Hebdo tragedy...

...and silly Thom Hartmann – doesn't he realize that you just aren't supposed to call out the wingnuttia in our corporate media, as noted here (removing tongue from my cheek)...

...and here's another message from an exceptionally brave person and her husband in response to horrific violence...

...and happy 80th birthday to THE KING!

Wednesday Stuff

GO BERNIE GO!...

…and here is more good news – Bob McCulloch should be disbarred at the very least…

...and I guess it's OK for our bought-and-paid-for corporate media to devote itself to idiotic “process” stories about the first day of the new congressional session as it did yesterday, but Jon Stewart does a typically good job here of reminding us of the sad reality on this subject...

...and I've been trying to come up with a response to this cowardly horror, and this is the best I can do for the moment – a tune sung by a French heroine of another time (the English translation for the title is “No, I regret nothing.”).

And by the way, I haven't heard anything about "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" from this idiot right about now - have you?

Monday Stuff

RIP Stuart Scott, a man who was probably bigger than he could have ever realized...

...and from the sublime back to the ridiculous we go, with Huckleberry Graham and “Bibi” (here)...

..and this is one of the scariest clips I've seen in a long time – I don't know how on earth Vice News got this footage, but it's a good thing they did; might be a good idea to rethink some of the drone strikes, I would say (the looks on some of the kids' faces showing how far gone they are is the stuff of nightmares...and to think Dubya and his pals had al Baghdadi at Gitmo and cut him loose...)...

…and with the arrival of the 114th Congress, now completely in the control of Republicans due to the dunderheaded stupidity primarily of Southern voters and those too lazy to show up on Election Day last year, allow me to make a not-bold-at-all prediction that we will have more gridlock, more whining by Republicans about how that baaad Kenyan Muslim socialist isn’t doing everything he can for the “one percent,” and more faux hand-wringing by our Beltway courtier media wondering why oh why those bad-mannered Democrats just won’t roll over and give the Republicans every single thing they want.

Well, I’ve had this tune in mind for this outgoing bunch of miscreants, and it probably will fit for the incoming bunch too.

Sunday Stuff

And wouldn't this be nice (hopefully, congressional Republicans won't totally screw it up)...

...and happy belated 70th birthday to Stephen Stills.
