Friday Stuff

God, how funny is this - "Short Fingered Stout," huh? GENIUS!!! (here)...

…and nice work by John Oliver with his report on conspiracy theories here (oh noes – I JUST SAW A BLACK HELICOPTER!)…

...and I thought this was a really good segment conducted by Lawrence O’Donnell with Dan Rather and Jeff Greenfield about “The Donald”; when asked about the most difficult presidential candidate he had to cover, I’m shocked that Rather didn’t say Tricky Dick given some of their legendary showdowns…

…and Rachel Maddow brings us a report initially on Peoria International Airport, though it leads into a quite-rightly blistering segment on the “pro-life” bunch; the last three and a half minutes or so are a hell of a payoff for a great setup…

…and Thom Hartmann brings us economic and labor news for the week…

…and I guess this is too easy of a selection given the date, but here it is.

Thursday Stuff

Here’s something you won’t hear me say very often – kudos to a responsible gun store owner for a change…would that more were like this; as usual, Caucasians are more of a threat for mass gun violence in this country than other groups...and please note that Mr. Downs thwarted a potential catastrophe not by acting like "a good guy with a gun" and trying to shoot it out with "a bad guy with a gun," but by using common sense and letting law enforcement do its job (here)…

...and I thought this was a great "Secular Talk" NSFW clip from Kyle Kulinski about Bernie Sanders and "Third Way" Democrats...

…and geez, I just gave this state kudos Tuesday night (here – again NSFW) – my bad; Samantha Bee explains (well, it’s more one incredibly awful for-profit incarceration bidness, to be fair)…

…and a happy belated 71st birthday to Eric Clapton.

Wednesday Stuff

Kudos to Dem U.S. House Rep Mark Takano for this

…with sentiments echoed by Chris Hayes/Linda Sarsour here (yep, pissing off a particular demographic is a good way to mobilize them to action)…

…and if I may say so, I think that this is a pretty special installment of “This Day In Doomsy History,” featuring this legendary clip by K.O. about the Teahadists; once more, watch stuff like this to truly know where “Donald Drumpf” came from – this is a bit deceptive I’ll admit, since, though I did put this up on 3/29/12, Olbermann’s epic commentary originally aired before the 2010 midterm elections in which Boehner & co. took over the U.S. House…you’ll have to go a long way to find more prescient words than this…

...and 10 years ago yesterday, Tom Jones, the "Prince of Wails," was knighted by QE2 (here - a bit creeped out by that avatar in the bottom right corner, though).

Tuesday Stuff

RIP Oscar-winning child star Patty Duke (not a bad epitaph as far as I'm concerned) – as far as movies go, she’ll probably be remembered the most for The Miracle Worker, and she was excellent also in many other productions, including a TV version of Taylor Caldwell’s Captains And The Kings many moons ago…she was also a mental health advocate…

Update 3/30/16: Important related info is here.

…and Chris Hayes and Dan Savage discuss the push-back against GA's trans-bathroom bill (and NC is quite rightly feeling the heat on this also, as noted here – I’m sure it doesn’t need to be pointed out how utterly stupid these bills are...and I think what Savage said about HRC and Bernie Sanders was a reaction to this; shockingly stupid moment from Susan Sarandon, who I thought otherwise had a brain...)…

…and my response to this is GOOD! Let them all blow each other's brains out (more hereawww, too bad)...

…and maybe Nathan Deal did what he did for crass political reasons as Dan Savage discussed above, but it was still the right thing to do, so here’s a song for the occasion.

Monday Stuff

It looks like Bill Maher found the proverbial nut again, this time on our Beltway courtier media enablers, Chuck Todd(ler) in particular here (spot-on...and of course, Reihan Salam tries to misdirect the conversation over to one of his idiotic preferred talking points, making the claim that you're somehow not a Trump supporter if you go to church, with no data to back it up of course - meanwhile, yours truly sees my share of "Anybody but Hillary" bumper stickers every Sunday; nope, sorry wingnut…church attendance has nothing to do with what Maher is saying…but Jennifer Granholm kept the focus where it belonged)...

Update 3/30/16: Memo to Reihan Salam...

...and it looks like this Chris Jansing person, I think, on MSNBC, has a report with Christopher Dickey of The Daily Beast and someone from Politico about just how nutty Trump and Cruz are (here)...

…and for anyone who wonders how this stuff with “The Donald” is playing elsewhere in the world, I give you this (yep, just gonna let Crooks and Liars do the work tonight – here)…

…and I have to admit that I’m not totally into this at the moment; I guess I need a bit of a kick start – this should do the trick.

Happy Easter 2016

A little late I know, but may you all have a happy and blessed Easter. If you don't observe anything, may you have a happy and blessed long weekend.
