Saturday Stuff

(By the way, my admittedly long-winded, boring meta post about the 2020 election can be accessed from here.)

John I. and Brett Erlich are here to tell us that Fix and Fiends finally “got the memo” on Soon-To-Be-Departing President Fergus Laing (and by the way, CNN just made it official for Biden/Harris)...

...and as this Now This clip tells us, Our Orange Pustule-In-Chief is going to indeed try to “burn it all down” – interesting to me that NOW, AT LONG LAST, our corporate media has no problem calling Generalissimo Trump a liar...

...and David Doel tells us about ballot measures that passed across the country last Tuesday (I think Oregon went a little far on making all drugs legal, to tell you the truth, but if it leads to fewer people in jail for non-violent offenses, then I can see that)...

...and The Lincoln Project continues to step up with their great ads (to help Jon Ossoff in one of the two upcoming Georgia runoff elections for control of the U.S. Senate, click here)...

...and with everything else going on, I neglected to mention this beyond-ridiculous campaign ad from Kelly Loeffler during the last election cycle; truly hard to find the words for this kind of stupidity (to help her opponent in the second upcoming Georgia runoff – and that would be Raphael Warnock – click here...Ossoff and Warnock should do an ad together and tell everyone they want to take control away from Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao to help people get help related to impacts from COVID-19, which McConnell will NEVER allow)...

...and the day of Number 45's inaugural, I put up this video - in addition to the incredibly apt title (and yes, I know the song is about a crippled young girl who wants to be loved and experience what others her age experience also), I'm bringing it back here as sort of a "bookend," if you will, for the ruinous presidency of Mango Mussolini...and no, I haven't forgotten he's a lame duck who could do even further damage in his childish rage...may require greater vigilance than ever now (this video was also featured in one of the funniest Beavis and Butt-Head segments of all time, IMHO).

Friday Stuff

David Doel explains here why the 2020 presidential race is effectively over; it sounds like the AP got burned a bit for calling the Arizona vote a little early, so that’s why they’re all waiting until the very last minute now, and I’m fine with that (with the AZ call raising the ire of the Trump gang, which is less and less of a concern with each passing second, happily)...

...and yeah, this is pretty damn hilarious – David Pakman tells about the Gropenfuhrer’s alleged spiritual counselor Paula White trying to cast some kind of a spell to turn electoral defeat into victory...yeah, you just keep trying that and let me know if it works somehow, OK?...

...and John Iadarola and Brett Erlich tells us that there will be 2 runoff U.S. Senate contests in Georgia coming up next January; I can’t stomach the thought of ANOTHER election any time soon, but it’s nice that we have a shot, however slim, of denying the Senate to “The Grim Reaper” (more here...to help, click here)...

...and this Now This clip tells us that African American support may have slightly increased for Our-Soon-To-Be-Departing Orange Pustule-In-Chief, though apparently the data is in dispute somewhat (great ideas about improving voting in this country, and I would add a federal motor-voter law with immediate voting registration when you register for a driver’s license)...

...and speaking of Arizona, I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 11/5/08; what follows is the concession speech from Republican U.S. Senator (and war hero of course) John McCain after his presidential loss to Barack Obama; I don’t believe you will EVER see such class epitomized by a member of his party in a similar circumstance again (love to be wrong, but I’m not holding my breath)...

...and at some point soon, I'm going to come up with an admittedly long, boring meta post on the 2020 election, but I'm holding off for now because some stuff hasn't been decided yet (or at least, not been officially pronounced). However, there is ONE contest where I can speak my mind for sure, and it has to do with Alabama. And I have a special message for everyone who had anything to do with sending Tommy Tuberville to the U.S. Senate (someone who, aside from Trump himself, might be the furthest removed from John McCain in terms of courage, character and intelllect as anyone from his party); do you seriously know what you fools have just done?

Yeah, yeah, I know the odds were very long against Dem incumbent Doug Jones, who won a special election because even Roy Moore hanging out in shopping malls in pursuit of teenage girls a third of his age was too much for you. But I think I should familiarize you with the guy who soon will step down, after serving commendably, since apparently (for some reason) his story is unfamiliar to you.

As noted here, before elected to the Senate, he served as a federal prosecutor; his most successful cases involved obtaining guilty verdicts for two Ku Klux Klan members accused in the 1963 Birmingham church bombing that killed four African-American girls. Jones also secured the indictment of domestic terrorist Eric Rudolph, convicted for a series of anti-abortion and anti-gay-motivated bombings across the southern United States between 1996 and 1998, which killed three people and injured 150 others, including the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

THAT is the guy you just effectively fired, you meat heads! And in his place, you elected a college football coach notably infamous for quitting on his teams and who didn't even know what the Voting Rights Act was (here).

So this goes out to all of you "Cotton State" knuckle draggers. Prepare to reap the whirlwind of your monstrous ignorance for the next six long years (sorry, no Lynyrd Skynyrd today - actually, I'm NOT sorry).

Update 11/8/20: Just add this to the pile - sigh.

Update 11/13/20: So far beyond an embarrassment (here) - I have a feeling there will be A LOT of updates.

Thursday Stuff

I genuinely wish our basically clueless corporate media could give us a “hot take” as smart and to the point as this one from our friends "across the pond"...

...and I would say that allegedly America-hating socialist (definitely snark on that one) was pretty damn prescient here (and make no mistake that, had Our Orange Pestilence had a lead, he would have appealed right to the SCOTUS to try and get Roberts, "I Like Beer" Kavanaugh and the "Christian Handmaiden" to try and certify the results immediately)...

...and this Damage Report clip tells us about somebody named Harlan Z. Hill who’s apparently crying like a little bitch over the impending presidential loss of the Gropenfuhrer, though it isn’t all said and done yet of course (dude, you SERIOUSLY think you’re going to start something in Philly? You’ll get carried out tits up if you do.)...

...and this Thom Hartmann clip might be the best discussion I’ve heard yet on how poorer working-class people and up voting against their own economic self-interest...and I and others smarter than your humble narrator have pointed out, this was accelerated by the Democratic Party, for the most part, blowing off working class voters...and God almighty, am I SICK AND TIRED of the one percent holding this country hostage over their stinking tax cuts!...

...and K.O. gives us his take on the latest developments (and sorry, but contemplating Olbermann dancing with Michael Moore is genuinely disturbing...nice job to finish with a sports anecdote, however)...

...and no, I'm not recommending that anyone blow anything up, but I'm just pointing out that today is Guy Fawkes Day (something to note in the U.K. given the first clip).

Wednesday Stuff

("But only if I'm winning, of course!").

I’m definitely not an expert on elections, and for sure I'm not an expert on an election like this, but from what I read, Biden has more chances to win at this point than Trump does, though it’s still possible for either one (and over the next few days, for what it’s worth, I’ll share more thoughts on why this election was so damn close...a big part of this is the power of incumbency, even for Mango Mussolini).

Turning to the videos... yeah, before we decide to give kudos to Wal-of-China Mart for supposedly curtailing their gun sales, let’s take a closer look at the stoo-pid lip service behind this gesture (yeah, we’ll still sell the damn guns, but they’ll supposedly be out of sight...uh huh – Ana and Jayar discuss)...

...oh, and by the way, Dems, stop running away from people like this gentleman when you’re campaigning (and boy, am I ever looking at THIS GUY when I say that!) – you may still lose, but at least you’ll do it for the right reasons...

...and speaking of losing for the right reasons, David Doel brings us this ad from Marquita Bradshaw, who ran as a Dem for the U.S. Senate from Tennessee, and yeah, she was pretty much defeated by the polling margin in the video, but Bradshaw’s message is one that should be carried forward by all future Dem politicians running for elected office (and before anybody gets too snarky about this, I should point out that Bradshaw beat fellow Dem (and decorated Iraq War veteran) James Mackler in the spring primary, a guy who was pretty much anointed for the spot by that alleged Dem political genius Chuck Schumer, even though Mackler’s service is commendable of course – and I expect that I’ll have a lot more to say about Schumer in the coming days, along with the fact that Amy McGrath, who was ALSO pretty much a Schumer protégé (and decorated veteran with commendable service), got clobbered by Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao decisively also)...

...and at this moment, what other tune could there be to include but this one?

Tuesday Stuff

Yeah, I know what The Lincoln Project is, but damn, their ads are good (and nice job by “Use The Force, Luke,” here - more here)...

...and there is indeed NEVER an excuse for complacency, but somehow I think that, if you’re reading this, we already know that...

...and I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 11/5/16, with a segment of “The Closer” by K.O. – just a bit of foreshadowing here I must say (and damn, do we miss Wayne Barrett)...

...and Farron Cousins tells us about a recent Huffpo report on boomers and Facebook spreading misinformation...mea maxima culpa in terms of my demographic (and for this)...

...and this clip from The Majority Report tells us about a trailer park landlord in Colorado who says he’s going to double everyone’s rent if Biden wins (yeah, and during the pandemic – nice job...mildly NSFW/H...and even though Matt and Jamie go off on a bit of a tangent here at the end aimed at Dems IMHO, to me, this is yet another example of our side having to pay more attention to poor working class voters, as the Rev. William Barber, among others, has pointed out)...

...and I thought now was as good a time as any to bring back this great update to the 1964 ad by Bill Bogert against Barry Goldwater, this time reinterpreted for Our Orange Pestilence...

...and to support Christina Finello, running to unseat Bri-Fi in the PA-01 U.S. House contest, please click here (and by the way, ignore Bri-Fi’s typical lying garbage about Finello supposedly wanting to “defund the police,” which she most definitely does NOT want to do – so many reasons why that slogan is a stinking dead dog despite its good intentions, and I’m sure you’re smart enough to know what the “release violent criminals” charge is also) – in addition, click here for one last time to support Dems running for the U.S. Senate, and click here (for PA-31 folks) to keep Perry Warren in Harrisburg...

...and there’s still work to do of course, but I honestly believe we're closer to the end of this nightmare than the beginning...I'm hearing the in-person turnout is outstanding; wonderful...we need to keep it up!

Monday Stuff

As far as I’m concerned, this will define the first – and, God willing, ONLY – term of the utterly ruinous reign of Mango Mussolini (more context is here)...

Update: Speaking of the pandemic, I can't tell you how sad this is; I'm equal parts distraught and utterly enraged at this moment.

...and this is an abbreviated version of the lies of the Gropenfuhrer, because life is short and it would take waaay too long to try and categorize all of them...

...and here’s that supposedly godly man breaking commandments (more here and here)..

...and welcome to the party, Vaush - clip is very NSFW/H about the Trumpster motorcade of assclowns trying to run the Biden/Harris bus off the road in Texas (more on Kristallnacht is here)...

...and I thought this was a good video about these Qanon life forms (good advice – yes, it’s tiresome to deal with some of these characters, but non-ridicule and patient persuasion and forbearance, I believe also, will win the day ultimately)...

...which I admit isn’t easy when you looks at stories like this offering proof as to how racist many – but not all – Republicans truly are, and I know that goes for some Dems too (John and Jayar tell us about a poll where those belonging to the “party of Lincoln” say that black voters shouldn’t be able to protest)...

...and kudos to Joe Biden for helping Christina Finello, running for the PA-01 U.S. House seat currently occupied by Bri-Fi (to help Biden/Harris, click here; to help Finello, click here; to help Dems running for the U.S. Senate, click here; and to help Perry Warren, running for another term as the rep from PA-31, click here)...

...and I’m bringing back this selection which I used to put up from the days when Patrick Murphy was our U.S. House rep; I don’t think we need motivation to vote in person if we haven’t already voted by mail, but if it needs to be provided, I hope this tune gets the job done.

Sunday Stuff

This report from Sky News tells us of the pro-Biden and pro-Trump protests in Florida, which, as far as I’m concerned, is a state that needs the U.N. to monitor its elections, which people smarter than I have already pointed out (and yeah, about a Biden-Harris supporter allegedly attacking a Trump supporter, I’m going to have to see proof for that one...and it looks like the Gropenfuhrer left his supporters out in the cold again as noted here)...

Update: I can't tell you how many times I've driven this bridge and will likely do so again in the future. And unless you've done so (and I know many have besides me), it's hard to truly describe how dangerous a stunt this is.

Arrest every single one of these fucking cretins responsible for this garbage.

Update 11/2/20: And it looks like Trumpsters got stranded again (here - sorry for the bad word above, but I'm kind of reaching my limit with this insanity).

...and while we all need to do what we can in these final three days, Rachel Maddow tells us we should take heart from the early polling numbers...

...and how dare an actual scientist double check on whether or not the NOAA should actually be studying, y’know...science (boy, is John right about all of the other stuff we could have done as opposed to wasting calories over Our Orange Pustule-In-Chief...commentary with Jayar Jackson also)...

...and to help Christina Finello, running to unseat Bri-Fi in PA-01 (who voted against the HEROES Act, let’s not forget), please click here (more here...and to help Dems running for the U.S. Senate, click here – and to help Perry Warren, running for another term as state rep in PA-31, click here)...

...and RIP Sir Sean Connery (here and here) – yeah I know what he said in the Barbara Walters interview, and that wasn’t cool, but he was also married for 45 years, so he must have done SOMETHING right as a husband...besides, I think his body of work can be appreciated aside from any personal stuff...hell, think of the people John Wayne sold out in the ‘50s, but I can still watch “The Searchers” and “True Grit” and admire his performances – this, as far as I’m concerned, is one of Connery's most iconic scenes from a truly great movie...his body of work, including "A Bridge Too Far," "The Man Who Would Be King" and "The Hunt for Red October," is truly stunning...

...and when all is said and done, I guess Connery will be identified mostly as the guy who created James Bond in the movies; to be honest, I never cared much about the Bond flicks when I was growing up (though the latest films with Daniel Craig are tremendous as far as I’m concerned)...the music from the Connery-era Bond films, though, was spectacular, including this tune.
