Saturday Stuff

Kudos to the moms who staged the protest here in favor of sensible federal gun laws about a year ago – it fell short besides their best efforts, of course; that doesn’t mean that that’s the end, though…if you support a Republican, that’s a vote for the status quo…Dems are hardly perfect themselves on this score either – many have to be scared into being reminded that they’re the party of common-sense gun reforms…

...and a happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all moms.

Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

Looks like that Georgia peanut farmer ended up with the last laugh over The Sainted Ronnie R, though it isn’t funny at all to think about how far behind we are on solar in particular because of Number 40; this has to be driving the Koch Brothers out of their bloody minds (here)…

…and yes, my fellow prisoners, Stuart Varney really is that big of a toad…

...and I don't know if I'll be able to track down videos for all 7 of the Repug members of the U.S. House BENGHAZI!!! clown show or not (here), but this introduces one member anyway, Martha Roby...

…and I say let’s get this weekend started, and with a “message” tune to boot.

Thursday Stuff

Great commentary by Jonathan Capehart here, though, in addition to African Americans, Dems everywhere will need younger voters, other minorities, single-women heads of households, etc. – everybody (and wouldn’t it be nice to turn the dreaded Beltway “CW” right on its pointed little head?)…

…and yeah, “lady junk” and Eric Bolling – that equivalence works for yours truly (here)…

Update 5/12/14: I think sometimes it's best to stand back and let teh stoo-pid speak for itself (here - h/t Atrios).

…and the humor to me falls a little flat in this video – speaking of Stephen Colbert, I think he and Jon Stewart have kind of cornered the market on topical droll irony – but I also think the points about why the Internet should be free and open are well made (video is about 29 minutes)…

...and now, time for a folky interlude (we absolutely love Squibnocket, by the way).

Wednesday Stuff

Yeah yeah I know, more “boomer” nostalgia and popular (for the ‘60s anyway) mythology – God, gag me (had this in mind when I heard about this)…

...and I could care less about Monica Whatsername or BENGHAZI!! BENGHAZI!! BENGHAZI!! BENGHAZI!! (or Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!) – here is some reality we need to be dealing with instead…

…oh, what the #@!!, here is John Fugelsang on you-know-what, probably the only person who actually knows what they’re talking about on this – don’t know who the white-haired guy is, but don’t laugh too hard…funny how the comedians seem to be the only ones making sense any more…

...and once again, "freedom" of religion for me, but not for thee - what a joke (and kudos to Bob Casey for this)...

...and this is easily the most important video of the bunch, for now and quite probably above all others (more here)...

...which kind of puts me in the mood for this tune, including the title in particular (also reminds me that I have yard work to do).

Tuesday Stuff

Yep, I give Carmelo Cintrón Vivas points for consistency here too, he of the coalition to keep Our Gal Condi Rice from speaking at Rutgers, which achieved the desired result…

…and as far as I’m concerned, this report demonstrates yet again why we will NEVER be able to work with the wingnuts on “smart” gun technology as it evolves (I wish for once the “Tiffany Network” and their corporate brethren would have the guts to air a report like this along with some actual analysis on the price of gun violence in this country – yes, I know, If we lived with sunshine, lollipops and rainbows every day)…

…and yep, climate is playing a role in this too – oh, and speaking of which, Antarctica is disappearingum, we should do something…

…and once in awhile, I need a bit of a life-affirming tune, so here goes.

Monday Stuff

To be fair, the job numbers don’t indicate those who have dropped off the radar, but there’s definitely a positive record for Democrats to run on, if only they’d figure out what the hell their messaging is on this topic (and ignore people like James Carville, who act like we aren’t supposed to talk about the economy as we get closer to the elections– please...and good point to include the decline in public sector jobs as a contributing factor)…

…and I thought this was a good clip from E.J. Dionne about what you might call left-wing Christianity (to combat some more idiocy on display here from the High Court of Hangin’ Judge JR)…

…and here is a truly memorable (and timely, and most definitely NSFW) rant from Cenk Uygur – as I’ve said, the other side can make an intelligent case in opposition to Number 44; they could, but of course they won’t

…and it looks like “Man Tan” Boehner is going to try his best to keep BENGHAZI!!! alive as long as he possibly can (and God Almighty, am I waiting for the damn Democrats to take advantage of this…hey, how about a 30-second video, or a minute, pointing out how all the money spent on BENGHAZI!!! could be spent more productively on behalf of real, actual people just trying to survive?).

Meanwhile, here’s a tune about four other dead Americans – wonder if Boehner or his same-party pals will ever care (and yes, I know the answer to this hypothetical – more here).
