Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

C’est Magnifique! (here)...

…and am I ever glad that this guy responded to Carly Fiorina’s recent appearance on “Real Time” – I thought this was an appropriate response also…

…and how do you like this? No sooner is Mikey the Beloved sworn in (correctly this time as far as I know) for his “swan song” term of office than he sponsors this joke of a piece of legislation to try and roll back Dodd Frank financial reforms – this provides some context on Fitzpatrick’s cowardly actions, featuring that nematode Jim Cramer…

...and I hope you're in the mood for some Friday night rock club music, because here it comes.

Thursday Stuff

So the latest faux right-wing hero Dr. Ben Carson said the following (here)….
"They got the wrong philosophy (re, ISIS), but they're willing to die for what they believe, while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness," he said as Republican officials from across the country interrupted him with applause. "We have to change that."
Hmmm...to me, that sounds suspiciously like the following (but don’t hold your breath waiting for a fraction of the heat on Carson for his words that Maher ended up taking for his)…

…also, I thought this was a well-done segment by Rachel Maddow about the aftermath of the vote for war with Iraq in this country as compared to the vote in France for expanding the fight against ISIS (basically, one vote in opposition each time…part of me thinks everyone who voted for the AUMF should have sung The Star-Spangled Banner way back when in imitation of what France did, but in this country, I think that would have made the ultimate perversion even worse)…

…and this was truly funny stuff from Jon Stewart on FLA; the really funny part is that he did this on a show where Marco Rubio was a guest (have to check out that interview later)…

…and given that the prior clip featured the Sunshine State, here is perhaps its most famous performer favoring us with a tune written by the guy I put up here a couple of days ago.

Tuesday Stuff

I’m glad to hear Jeremy Scahill’s point of view on the response to the Charlie Hebdo tragedy, particularly his opening remarks about all of the world leaders who attended the march on Sunday and their at-best lukewarm record on press freedom and human rights overall…

...and I thought this was a pretty interesting report on all of the online stuff going on between ISIS and Anonymous (funny in a Stanley Kubrick kind of way that ISIS couldn’t even break down the pay wall for the Albuquerque newspaper - BTW, Richard Engel's report was pretty interesting)…

…and as I know I’ve said ad nauseum, you’d be better off watching paint dry than viewing a minute or less of Fix Noise…

..and yes, I realize the prior clip has to do with Birmingham in the UK, but it still put me in the mood a bit to hear this tune.

Monday Stuff

RIP Anita Ekberg...

…and I guess I’m a little late with this, but while it’s too early I guess to say whether or not this is a hate crime, I don’t think it’s too early to wonder when our corporate media is going to pay attention (here)…

…and kudos to John Ficarra, editor-in-chief of Mad Magazine, for this great commentary (well done from a member of what is referred to as “the usual gang of idiots”)…

…and I’ve had this tune in mind for a little while now from RT about terrorism, and yeah, he actually did write something about it post-9/11; created from the crazy perspective with a twist at the end of course (“when I get to Heaven, I won’t realize that I’m there.”).

(By the way, I think the tune he referred to at the end was "She Said It Was Destiny," which is a great song regardless of whether or not it was a "hit.").
