Friday Stuff

All well and good, but if “Man Tan” Boehner and that sleazy weasel Eric Cantor haven’t come down with an attack of sanity yet… (here...and I just found out that my cousin who works in DC was affected – heckuva job, you bastards)…

…and good for Chris Hayes to shine a spotlight on those responsible for this madness (I didn't think it was possible for anyone to make me actually miss "Mad Thad" McCotter)…

…though they sang a different tune under the ruinous reign of Obama’s predecessor (here)…

…and speaking of singing, the sync is a little off here, but this is still real good stuff (NSFW at the very end – never thought much of Cheap Trick anyway).

Thursday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

This says a lot coming from someone who’s seen more than a hard mile or two (here)…

...and I get a little fed up with Lawrence O’Donnell and his “mansplaining” from time to time, but I thought this was a good segment with Carl Bernstein on Topic #1 (and yes, it’s true that, ideologically, we tend to gravitate to media that re-enforces our beliefs, but I’ve read just a bit of wingnuttery over all these years too, and those life forms truly are crazy)…

…and Jon Stewart “cuts to the chase” a bit more on this here…

…and 40 years ago today, former Richard Nixon VP Spiro Agnew (he of the “nattering nabobs of negativism” quote) resigned from office and pleaded “no contest” to charges of tax evasion – this was a “money” tune that came to mind for the occasion (try not to be too overwhelmed by the video:-).

Wednesday Stuff

You know that “Man Tan” Boehner and that sleazy weasel Eric Cantor have overplayed their hand on the shut down when their sugar daddies start to desert them (here)…

…and I give you another Red State “triumph” here (and please spare me another lecture on what constitutes “big gumint” to the Teahadists – can’t get more intrusive than this)…

…and happy birthday to Jackson Browne

…and John Lennon (I went back and forth on a few selections, but I settled on this because of the Rachel Maddow feature).

Tuesday Stuff

Oh, and by the way, anybody besides me remember the war in Afghanistan? Show of hands…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I’m so utterly revolted by this story that I can think of no other response except this…

…and in the midst of all of the madness in the news, I thought this was a good omen – hopefully it will be realized as completely as possible…

…and during the course of my daily travels, I have occasion to listen to a lot of “free” radio during the drive-time morning rush and also in the evening – I heard this great tune get absolutely butchered on BEN-FM in these parts earlier today (par for the course with them and other stations), so I felt like putting up the correct version here – enjoy.

Monday Stuff (update)

(I also posted here.)

Yesterday marked the seventh anniversary of the still-unsolved murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya – a related post is here

Update 6/10/14: This isn’t what I would call complete justice by any means, but it definitely is something that I thought would never happen.

…and thank God for Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has connected the dots pretty damn well here, with the help of “The Old Gray Lady,” on all of the shut down nonsense…

…along with Martin Bashir and Dem U.S. House Rep Joe Courtney of Connecticut…

…and with all due respect to Ms. Smith, I wish her and her son all the best, but the Democrats don’t need to “come together” on this issue; this horror is owned and operated by Not Your Father’s Republican Party – and don’t tell how bloody wonderful John “Enron” Arnold is supposed to be after reading this...other reports "loop" after this one…

…and I absolutely LOVE IT that driftglass at Crooks and Liars found this clip of Bogie and Edward G. Robinson in “Key Largo,” attempting to describe the Teahadist mindset (voiced by Robinson, who in real life was a very cultured individual), though I honestly hope I never find myself in a position where I actually understand those bastards…

…and here’s a little number for “Man Tan” Boehner and his “Idiots Deluxe” playmates in the U.S. House (“right” as in “correct,” I hasten to add).
