Thom Hartmann tells us more about the anti-HRC FBI faction (and kudos to Hartmann for continuing to point out the impact of that mongrel Kris Kobach and his abuse of the interstate cross-check list, possibly the most unreported story of this entire sorry election; how in God’s name that was even legal is something I cannot imagine)…
…and gosh, I’m so shocked – NC Repug “bathroom bill” Governor Pat McCrory loses, so he and the Repugs in the NC state legislature try to metaphorically “kneecap” the incoming Dem governor-elect…typical (didn’t know that the Dems were worse on gerrymandering than the Repugs – shouldn’t be legal for anybody, and boy, do I agree with Cenk on how Roy Cooper should be handling this)…
…and time once more for some seasonal selections – and he didn’t even have to throw the tomahawk for this one (you can Google it)…
…and who says Santa doesn’t know how to swing?...
…and I was really waiting for him to break out in a Stewie Griffin impression here, but he didn’t – nice job (and standards are tough to sing, from what I know of that, which isn’t much I’ll admit)…
…and I think it’s safe to say that these guys are light years beyond the treadmills by now.

Yeah, I definitely think we should all familiarize ourselves with the meaning of the word “kleptocracy”…
…and to head that off, I give you the following recommendation from K.O…
…and Martin Sheen, among others, here…
…and how dumb were you anyway, voters for “Donald Drumpf” who actually DIDN’T think this would happen? (coming for Social Security, led by this fossilized Republican chairman of the Social Security Subcommittee on the House Ways and Means Committee, from Texas of course)...
…well, time again then for an escape with the holiday selections…
….and here’s a song in the Christmas spirit, you might say…
…and here’s a retro tune…
…and if you’re going to get hammered, please don’t drive (no joke).

Looks like Santa got his fake news delivered to the North Pole, all right (or should I say "alt-right"?)...
...and Thom Hartmann tells us how President-Elect Fergus Laing and his minions will try to achieve their nefarious goals if we let them (speaking once more of fake news)…
…and I think Seth Meyers makes a similar point, though with a little more humor…
…and yeah, it’s time for another patented K.O. smack down, as it were – I’ve seen some posts from the usual conservative suspects alleging that Olbermann is talking crazy talk; yeah, the fact that others are trying to marginalize you is the first step towards eventual acceptance (oh, and isn't this just precious also?)…
…and time to enjoy more seasonal selections while I take a tranquilizer.

Given the end of Trey Gowdy’s ridiculous BENGHAZI!! circus (here), I think it’s important to revisit this segment from Lawrence O’Donnell…

…and oh yeah, remember when this country was capable of the type of moral outrage that U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power displays here? Well, you can put something like this in a time capsule and you should probably lock it up tight, since it will be nothing but a historical curiosity after the regime of Generalissimo Trump takes over (she might as well have asked some of these questions directly to The Big Orange Cheetoh himself)…
…and I’ll admit that I’m a little behind on this, but Mike Malloy tells us here about the KKK parade in Roxboro, NC for President-Elect Fergus Laing…
…and once more, I give you some holiday selections to keep from going completely bonkers.

Rachel Maddow brought us this recent report on supporters of President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh and polling, which tells you just what kind of a parallel universe they truly live in (and by the way, I’m not trying to impugn the woman in the pic above extending her finger)…
…and I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 12/12/11; the video is a compilation of instances where the blog Think Progress performed some actual journalism, taking some of the supposedly august members of the political/media/industrial complex and holding their metaphorical feet to the metaphorical fire, as it were – TP has slipped a notch as far as I’m concerned, not because it’s not a great blog anymore IMHO…it definitely still is that; it’s just that its work was of such a high quality at one time that I didn’t think it would be possible to maintain that level of excellence forever…if nothing else, consider this video a lesson in what we’ll ALL have to do with the incoming regime of Generalissimo Trump and his “cabinet of deplorables” (also, as our new US authoritarian overlords due to take over on 1/20/17 malign those not towing the Repug conservative line. such as TP, Crooks & Liars, and even Talking Points Memo, believe it or not)…

Yeah, looks like President-Elect Donald Drumpf-ski isn’t so big on counterterrorism, but yeah, rooting out those meddlesome scientists with their meddlesome research into poisoning the climate and their meddlesome conclusions that we ought to be doing something the hell about it…yeah, now THAT’s a priority all right (don’t know what the big story was after this video, by the way)…
...and Sam Seder tells us a way that, maybe, at long last, we can get Merrick Garland confirmed to the Supreme Court (I think this would be the beginning of a totally deserved payback for all of the Trump/Comey/McConnell/Putin garbage, by the way)...

As far as I’m concerned, at a minimum, James Comey and Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao are guilty of treason for this (and I’m sorry, but I have to say it – if Number 44 had even an inkling of this in September, he should have said something...about everything I mean)…
…and by the way, how does it feel to get played again, all you saps who voted for President-Elect Fergus Laing (here)?...

Yesterday I paid tribute to one American hero, and today I want to pay tribute to another – happy 100th birthday to Issur Danielovitch, better known by his stage name (here), the man who probably did more to break the Hollywood blacklist than anyone else…it would be almost too easy to include a clip from “Spartacus,” so I’m including the next-to-last scene from “Paths of Glory” instead, one of the finest anti-war films ever made – another film recommendation I’d like to offer is for “Trumbo,” with Bryan Cranston’s great turn in the lead; Douglas is performed in spot-on fashion by Dean O’Gorman (more here)…
…and I know I’m behind on this a bit, but Alex Witt speaks here with Dem U.S. House Rep Adam Schiff about Trump and China/Taiwan (I don’t have an opinion one way or another on Gen. Mattis, but the fact that he’s supported by President-Elect Fergus Laing automatically makes me suspicious – really stupid question from Witt about Russia and the hacking related to the election at about 5:40, and yeah, I think it’s fair to say that – another dumb question from Witt later saying that the Clinton team said that the Trumpsters won because of appeal to white supremacists – if I were to try and source that, I’m sure I’d find that isn’t true…what starts off as a good interview goes bad in a hurry, but I’m including this because I genuinely respect Rep. Schiff)…
…and the more I hear about the smear campaign organized against Dem U.S. House Rep Keith Ellison (running to be head of the DNC), the more I think that he’s the right man for the job (NSFW)…
...and I give you Ari Melber on “Jade Helm” and other right-wing nutjob conspiracy theories, leading to “fake news” (speaking with Michael Beschloss)…
…continuing, Thom Hartmann tells us the heroic story of Sophie Scholl, executed by the Nazis, author of the letter against them he reads, leading into Danielle Muscato torching Generalissimo Trump on Twitter…
...and K.O. returns with commentary #9 in his series "The Resistance" (NSFW - what a nightmare - oh, and by the way, I’m getting really, REALLY tired of hearing about how Dems are supposed to now completely and utterly suck up to elderly white conservatives who still have their fee fees hurt over the last election even though The Big Orange Cheetoh (ostensibly, THEIR GUY!) “won” – I’ve got a two-word response, and it’s not “happy birthday”… )...

RIP John Glenn – truly, a hero has left us…
…and I have to admit that it takes a lot to shock yours truly, but this clip genuinely did, and for a good reason (here)…
Update 12/9/16: And speaking of gun insanity, I give you this (Alex Jones and his foul ilk should all roast on their respective spits in hell one day).
…also, this great report from Rachel Maddow explains exactly why our leaders are supposed to avoid financial entanglements with foreign heads of state and/or their governments, something that Generalissimo Trump cares not a fig about of course…
…and kudos to this lady from The Weather Channel for putting the global warming denialists in their place – a well done, in-you-face response to those Breitbart idiots claiming that the earth is cooling…you want to know the main reason why we’re in the electoral mess we currently face? It’s because of idiot low-information voters and our for-the-most-part utterly useless corporate media that refuses to push back as the person does in this video (you know, with actual “facts,” which most conservatives are apparently allergic to - have to crank the volume a bit)…
…also, RIP Greg Lake (don’t usually include this song because it’s heard in plenty of other places also, but it seems appropriate for the occasion)…
…as does this remembrance (here).

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor…
…and just as a reminder, Generalissimo Trump actually embodies what we once fought against (my guess is that, if our PEOTUS ever actually faced waterboarding for real, he'd evacuate everything in his entire wretched body)…
…and I happened to come across this item on Turner Classic Movies the other day, so I thought I would share it…submitted for your approval, as somebody once said, from here – and if you think this is a convention of supporters of President-Elect Fergus Laing, I don’t think it’s your imagination…and no, they’re not shouting “Trump” – also...I also have a feeling that it's no accident that Peter Sellers tried to effect a Southern accent - and no, I don’t know enough about the story of Leonard Peltier to say anything about him one way or the other…
…and Samantha Bee gives her take on BS “news” (NSFW); glad to see the focus on this, though it’s quite probably too late, unfortunately...
…and here is a little soul for the season…
…and I try to work in at least one new tune every year at this time – not sure if any others will make it; we’ll see.

Kudos to Brian Stelter for these observations here on how those who make a living at this sort of thing should cover President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh, though I guess it would have been better if we’d heard this earlier…and as far as lies go, I don’t know anyone who died because Number 44 mistakenly said you could keep your doctor, as opposed to “Mission Accomplished” (and speaking of the political/media/industrial complex, I thought this was well done by Rick Perlstein)…
…and I guess what Stelter is talking about contributes somewhat to the situation that Cenk and Ana discuss here (yeah, I guess it really is a head-smacking momentby Alysin Camerota, but should we be all that surprised by now?)…

Rachel Maddow brought us a bit of a history lesson here on how presidential “tours” basically don’t end up going so well, within the context of Trump/Pence supposedly taking a “victory lap” after the travesty that took place almost a month ago (and once more, imagine the corporate media caterwauling if a Dem did something like this…by the way, the League of Nations failed for a few reasons, and one in particular was Henry Cabot Lodge, a Repug U.S. Senator who would create the obstructionist template utilized by Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao, among others)…
…also, K.O. is back to tell us that he believes that his personal Email was hacked, and you’ll never guess by who (personally, I was always suspicious of the fact that, over the conventions last summer, my page views went absolutely nuts; I’d love to think it was from people who were in love with this little blog o’mine, but was I being spied on to find out if it was worth it to try and “hack” this site? And was the decision made that it WASN’T worth it after all (que sera sera)? Who knows.)…
…and I know I’ve ridiculed people who voted for Trump, and I still do, but I’m genuinely sorry for Teena Colebrook; I’m hard-hearted on this I know, but I have to draw the line somewhere.
And I have a few reactions to the comment from Colebrook that she “doesn’t trust government anymore,” as noted here.
I don’t know if she said that because she was raised as a Republican all her life and was conditioned into thinking that they were “the only game in town” based on that as well as the opinions of other family members, friends and/or acquaintances (with their hero, The Sainted Ronnie R, decrying for many years how supposedly awful “government” is). Maybe she’s just a person who, commendably, was taught how important it is to be responsible and self-reliant and just gravitated to the “R” party thinking they still embodied those virtues despite the fact that they’ve been thoroughly hijacked by Teahadists/racists (they often overlap as far as I’m concerned), know-nothings and corporatist greedhead monsters.
Either that or she actually paid attention to the Democratic presidential campaign and just felt utterly suffocated by the relentlessly negative coverage of Hillary Clinton and received not the slightest inkling of the fact that she would have been a demonstrably better president for her than the misery set to be sworn in on January 21st (and once more, I’m not saying that to let the Clinton campaign off the hook for what I would call their utter failure to realize just how heavily the deck was stacked against them, unfair as that is I’ll admit, and fashion in response an imaginative campaign that would have utterly shattered the corporate media shorthand manufactured against the Dem nominee, though I certainly don’t hold Clinton responsible for the James Comey garbage, the flood of fake news, and the Russian hacking which, as far as I’m concerned will be proved beyond all doubt eventually).
In short, if I were to talk to Teena Colebrook, I would ask her without a trace of snark why she said she “doesn’t trust government anymore.” I would do this if, for no other reason, because it would be an educational opportunity for the Democrats (too late now, though, I’ll admit)...

Yeah, you said you’d “protect” Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid all right, President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh – the tape doesn’t lie (here); in response, though, I’d like to ask the following question: what was the political party of the presidential administrations that enacted these fine (and highly popular) programs (it wasn’t YOURS, that’s for damn sure)?
And by the way, just how big a scumbag is Trump’s HHS nominee Tom Price, with his syrupy, country-sounding music in the background while he pledges to destroy that dastardly “Democrat” program known as the Affordable Care Law? As noted here, fewer Republicans say they want the law repealed, while more say they want it “scaled back,” whatever the hell that means…and we’re only talking about 26-30 percent of the overall population, by the way, probably the same knuckleheads who still think Obama is a Muslim and Hillary Clinton should go to jail.
As far as I’m concerned, if you were dumb enough to buy the snake oil these characters were selling (on everything, but for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid for the time being), then you deserve what you get – the problem is that practically the rest of us will be hurt too…
...and Kyle K. tries to answer the question I posed above (NSFW – yeah, that description of the Repugs is totally apropos, and the Dems too unfortunately)...
…and I thought David Pakman did a good job of dissecting this alleged victory by “Donald Drumpf” in keeping about 1,000 Carrier jobs in this country (with the parent company residing in the home state of VP-elect Mike Pence…how con-vee-nient - more here)…
…and equally ridiculous, if not more so, was the Thanksgiving message from President-Elect “Fergus Laing,” as K.O. tells us in another great commentary from “The Resistance”…
Oh, and in a story not directly related, it turns out that wingnut actor Mike Rowe is all PO’ed at Hampshire College for refusing to fly the American flag in protest of Generalissimo Trump (here - and this is typical also). OK, that’s his opinion – I get it.
Given that, I’d like to know what Rowe thinks of this, this, and this.
…and when I heard that Howard Dean was running to head the DNC once more, I thought he would be perfect, but after watching U.S. House Rep Keith Ellison in this interview with Chris Hayes, I think I’m changing my mind (Ellison, you’ll recall, is the person who made this prescient observation)…
Update 12/5/16: This counts even more heavily in Ellison's favor as far as I'm concerned.
...and time once more for a seasonal selection.

Yeah, President-Elect Fergus Laing is truly compiling a “cabinet of deplorables,” as it were, and if you DIDN’T think that Trump would bring back the dregs of Bushco, including the person highlighted in the following clip, then you’re dumber than a bag of rocks (more here...I've never featured the guy in this video before, and if he thinks "Infowars" will touch this, then he is very much mistaken)…
…also Chris Hayes talks with Linda Sarsour about those oh-so-brave-in-their-imaginations voters for “Donald Drumpf” who now feel empowered to be even bigger assholes than they already are…
…and I have a couple of items I’ve been meaning to get to, so I’ll do so here; first, Alex Witt talks to Victoria DeFrancesco about the Repugs and all of their “Sanctuary Cities” BS (from the party that supposedly is opposed to “big gumint,” of course – I would say that we’re going to have GIGANTIC “big gumint” under President Fergus Laing…the takeaway for me on this is that, yes Virginia, if an “illegal” commits a crime, the Feds can indeed get them even if they live in a “sanctuary city”…great job by our corporate media to fail to explain THIS also, among other screw-ups, and yes, I'm being sarcastic)…
…second, Kyle K. tells us that “Governor Bully” opposes pot legalization in NJ, as stated on a radio call-in show (NSFW – yeah, typically the first thing Christie does is rip the caller, who admittedly was wrong…I think there should be selective legalization for medical reasons and some other exceptions, but I definitely favor decriminalization)…
…and I know I have to play catch-up on some of K.O.’s great “The Resistance” commentaries, like this one…
...and here is another seasonal number.

Wednesday Stuff
(Hat tip to Kriston Capps and John Fugelsang on Twitter for the pic, which speaks volumes as far as I'm concerned)
Gosh, how charming – an anti-Muslim letter from Trump supporters with overtones of Hitler (U-S-A! U-S-A! Oh, and any chance of a protest from President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh? Don’t hold your breath…interesting idea from Ana, I must say – I think it should be expanded, actually, to folks of other ethnicities, people with disabilities, people living in poor neighborhoods, single-parent families, etc.)…
…and I thought this was an enlightening segment about Generalissimo Trump and the world wide web, as it were, with The Internet Archive trying to open up a facility in Canada because they're concerned about what "Donald Drumpf" will do when it comes to trying to curtail free speech, which he said he would do during the campaign, actually - also noted are all of the bottom-feeders from Fix Noise who will now reside in the administration of this utter fraud; I wish Rachel wasn't smiling so much over this stuff, but I'm sure her Comcast overlords won't permit the outrage that is entirely appropriate…
…and I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” from 11/30/09; Keith Olbermann told Number 44 that we need to get out of Afghanistan, no less true now than it was 7 years ago...there are a few things that Number 44 can do in his way out (including firing James Comey and cleaning out the FBI office in NYC), and committing to getting us out of the land where empires crumble should be pretty high on his list IMHO...
…and I give you another seasonal number – sometimes you get so fed up with it all that the only thing left to do is dance.

Tuesday Stuff
I give you the latest on the “day of disruption” (otherwise known as the “fight for $15”) here and here (video focuses on a protest at a McDonald’s in Denver...and why am I not surprised by this?)…
…and Dem U.S. Senator Chris Murphy talks with Chris Hayes about the latest idiocy (in foreign policy this time) from the demented child-king about to take office (dear God)…
…in addition, Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo provide commentary on John Dickinson (of "Faze The Nation") and his ridiculous attempt to walk VP-elect Mike Pence through another softball interview (Garofalo’s disgust is completely appropriate as far as I’m concerned, and I totally agree with her sentiment – if it were just a matter of Republican voters getting hurt from this garbage, I would care absolutely nothing since they deserve all this, and more...NSFW)…
…continuing, I’d totally glossed over the fact that there’s still one U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana that is currently still being contested with a runoff scheduled for 12/10 (here); the Dem is Foster Campbell, featured in the Rachel Maddow clip below (to help, click here)…
Update: Uh, yep.
…and today marks the 15th anniversary of the passing of George Harrison…
…and fortunately, we have the seasonal selections to briefly take our minds off of our current difficulty.

Monday Stuff
I don’t really have anything particularly brilliant to say about the passing of Fidel Castro, except to say that, as nearly as I could tell, he was a brutal tyrant who doesn’t deserve to be remembered fondly by anyone (here). And yeah, I speculated on his death over 10 years ago here, for what that’s worth, and he managed to outlive 10 U.S. presidents, which I guess is no small feat. He was also a master manipulator who was able to parlay our clumsy attempts to undermine him into some kind of heroic image to people who, as far as I’m concerned, didn’t know any better for whatever reason. However, there are a lot of people who, for good or ill, show themselves to be skilled at the same propagandistic bent that Castro employed (Yasir Arafat and “Bibi” come quickly to mind...maybe "Number 45" too...), and I don’t think they deserve any hosannas either.
Oh, and closer to home, just remember that “now is not the time to talk about common-sense gun control” (here - and yeah, he allegedly used a knife and a car too, but I still think my point is valid)…
…also, I thought Thom Hartmann had a really good commentary here on the latest utterly preposterous lie from President-Elect “Donald Drumpf” and how that is used as bait for our corporate media to ignore much bigger issues with this rapacious pirate who, quite probably, will be taking up space in An Oval Office before too long (ugh – good job to link it to Kris Kobach & ALEC)…
…and keeping with the utter misery that will inflict us after 1/20/17 as of now, Rachel Maddow tells us about the popular vote discrepancy in the election…if HRC had won the electoral vote and “Fergus Laing” had won the popular vote, do you want to know how loudly our Beltway courtier media would be SCREAMING at a President-Elect Clinton to appoint a “bipartisan” cabinet? (and by the way, though Rutherford B. Hayes was, for all appearances, an “accidental” president and we had awful labor strife during his term in office, there was more to him in terms of understanding workers’ grievances than meets the eye…more nuance than we’ll ever get out of the person soon to take the reins at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue)…...
…and gosh, color me shocked; Generalissimo Trump’s supposed infrastructure plan is nothing but a scam, as Joy Reid (sitting in for Rachel) and Ron Klain (of “Recount” fame) tell us…
...and K.O. is back with his #3 video in his series "The Resistance" (I once did a report on Benjamin Franklin Bache; can't tell you whatever happened to it – yeah, with hindsight, you can say that President John Adams overreacted, but you’d have to go back and read about what kind of names public figures used to be called back then…stuff I’d rather not repeat here actually)…...
…and yeah, Jimmy Dore has done more than a little to piss me off over the election, but he and Steve Oh are absolutely right here about what’s going on with the police at the Standing Rock protest in North Dakota; I know there are good cops and I’m sure some of these characters were told to do the garbage they’re doing to the protestors or they’re fired, even though that’s still no excuse – tells you how clueless the Hillary Clinton campaign was that they didn’t see this opportunity to show up and lend support somehow just by talking to the protestors…I really don’t think Bernie Sanders would have needed prodding to do that (NSFW of course)…
..and I’ll be the first to admit that this is kind of a clumsy transition to the seasonal stuff (I promise to get back to actual new music one of these days), but between the prior video and the next one, it’s hard to figure out which cops are really acting like cartoons and which ones aren’t.

Friday Stuff
Hey, President-Elect Big Orange Cheetoh! You know those allegedly pesky, tiresome presidential daily briefs? You know, the ones you’re supposed to receive every day? Well, that’s part of the job description. That’s why they’re called “daily” briefs! (pic from here)…
Still proud of yourselves, all you Jill Stein and Gary Johnson voters (to say nothing of those who didn’t bother to vote for a president at all)? To be fair, though, at least Stein is commendably doing this…
…and deep down, do I wish that somehow what happened on 11/8 could be overturned? Hell yeah, but there’s virtually no shot of that I know. However, I believe we should do EVERYTHING in our power to ensure the integrity of the voting process in this country, regardless of whether the vote takes place at the federal, state, city or county level, and if an audit of the votes in Wisconsin, Michigan and PA help to accomplish that, then I’m all for it (and somehow I think this clip could have run for a little longer, but then again, we’re talking about The Comcast Network, let’s not forget, so I’m sure that has a little more than something to do with why it was cut short – besides, given the total “sensible centrist” and thoroughly unimaginative way she campaigned, I honestly don’t think Hillary Clinton deserves another chance)…
…that being said, I know I’m presenting Keith Olbermann’s great “The Resistance” commentaries out of order a bit once more, but I think #4 here takes a bit of precedence over #3 for reasons that I’m sure will become apparent shortly (here)…
…and I know this is a little behind on the news cycles, but I still think it’s worthwhile to take “A Closer Look” with Seth Meyers (Trump/Pence & the “Hamilton” stuff, as well as Steve Bannon embracing the dark side, where he lives already apparently)…
…and I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (close enough) from 11/26/10, with an eco-friendly message for all of you consumers out there, including those braving the malls on Black Friday…
…and yes, that means the season is upon us again, believe it or not.

Happy Thanksgiving 2016
I got a kick out of this (courtesy of Pixdaus and Daily Kos)......and here's another holiday fave, with an intro by Seth MacFarlane as Stewie Griffin (and again, the captions make this hilarious as far as I'm concerned)...
...and here's more holiday fun...
...and I kind of liked this also (hat tip for this to Daily Kos)...
...and here's a Thanksgiving message for those wonderful folks at the TSA.
Update 1: And here is another late addition.
Update 2: Might as well add this too.
Update 3: Imagine all the people that can be fed for $35 grand (here, getting serious for a minute).
Update 4: And since I add to this list every year, I might as well include this too (hasta la vista, baby!).
…and I guess this is an appropriate tune for the day.
