Sam Seder and The Majority Report tell us about what I could call the pretty clear-headed reasoning from Dem U.S. House Rep Katie Porter of California on the question of impeachment…



…and I thought this was a pretty even-handed report by the New York Times on the oil tanker episode (attack?) in the Gulf of Oman recently (and we know the Iranians are bad actors overall, but I have zero trust in Pompeo or anyone else in the Trump regime concerning their claims of Iranian involvement – at a minimum, we need to wait and see...and of course, as noted here, Huckleberry Graham will yell about a war that he will never have to worry about fighting, as well as that smug, insufferable, traitorous, lying orange POS of a “president”…and there are a few takeaways here as far as I'm concerned, and one of them is that our "friend" Bibi continues to be a cheerleader for trying to sucker us into another war in the Mideast)…



…and as far as I’m concerned, a lot of this garbage from our elected leaders stems from the fact that we should have murdered the AUMF in about a hundred different ways by now, but of course, we can continue to thank the Bush gang for “the gift that keeps on giving,” though, as Dem U.S. House Rep Barbara Lee points out to Ari Melber (with former Repug U.S. House Rep Tom Coleman), President Hopey Changey isn’t innocent here either…



…and as long as we’re harking back to Bushco a bit here, I give you Liz Cheney trying to claim a particle of moral high ground against AOC over the latter’s “concentration camp” remark (more here - and my God, is Chuck Todd a TOOL for this...and check out the roaring silence from many, but not all, faith groups in response …”terror is baked into the DNA of the policy we’re seeing right now” indeed)…

…and Farron Cousins tells us that the Gropenfuhrer’s latest hissy fit has to do with firing his pollsters since, as of now, his re-election prospects look bad, but after 2016, I assume absolutely NOTHING – still, though, this is typical egomaniacal behavior…



…and move along, nothing to see here – just purple tap water; just shut up and keep watching Fox News…U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! (NSFW…by the way, there’s a reason why I haven’t featured much from Kyle lately, and that’s because I’m tired of hearing his completely “in the tank” commentary for Bernie and Tulsi Gabbard, of all people – he’s definitely right about infrastructure, but trying to find a way to drag Elizabeth Warren into this somehow is REALLY a stretch)...



…and Pete Williams of MSNBC reports on the Supremes upholding VA’s fight against gerrymandering (color me shocked…sounds like the ruling, though, had to do with the fact that one-half of the VA “lege” by itself couldn’t sue – not sure the High Court of Hangin’ Judge JR and “Schlitz” Kavanaugh would have ruled this way if the whole legislature had sued in response to the common-sense redraw of the districts)…



…and I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 6/19/09, about the Obama Administration triggering all of the white crazies out there who ended up being completely and utterly played by “Adolf Twitler” – I originally put this up as somewhat of a commemoration of the murder of Denver radio talk show host Alan Berg, which is coming up on its 35th anniversary, believe it or not…Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! speaks with journalist Jim Ridgeway…



…and speaking of race, I can’t believe it’s actually been 25 years since this fiasco (and I’m a little uncomfortable with the reporter and anchor here treating the slow-motion chase as simply some kind of a media curiosity and smiling over it…yeah, I guess it was to a degree, but it sprung from a CAPITAL MURDER case in which Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were SLAUGHTERED...and what could go wrong here, I wonder?)…



…and John I., Cenk and Ashlee Marie Preston bring us the story of a gun getting pulled on a family whose 4-year-old little girl apparently made off with a Barbie, believe it or not; yes, this is thoroughly unacceptable behavior, but the answer isn’t to go back to our respective corners…having a hard-ass conversation between the cops and folks like this is hard to imagine, but that’s what we need at a bare minimum, but good luck with that happening with Our Treasonous, Tiny-Handed Orange Dictator (if charges can be brought against these cops, then that needs to happen)…



…and apparently he’s going to be at The Locks at Sona in these parts on Wednesday; I’m sure it will be a good show.

It looks like Sarah Huckabilly Sanders will now be able to lie with impunity in her spare time (here); I’m sure a gig at Fix Noise awaits…



…and yeah, it looks like the Gropenfuhrer just made about 2 years’ worth of investigating utterly unnecessary by admitting straight-up that he’d collude with a foreign hostile power to try and win an election (and I stand by what I said here, but maybe we still need to move things along a little faster…time to “cut the crap” indeed)…



…and Rachel Maddow tells us about the latest insanity involving the U.S. and Iran; I don’t trust Mike Pompeo as far as I can pee (and this is definitely important to keep in mind also)…



…and we know what kind of vermin the “alt-right” truly are, but I agree with Cenk – how brainless was it for Detroit to allow these creatures to come anywhere near a pride parade (and good point by Cenk about Skokie, IL – he and Ana of TYT explain)…



…and good job by AOC to bring the proverbial heat on what the regime of Generalissimo Trump is trying to do with the 2020 census and that stupid (and quite probably illegal) “citizenship” question…



…and congratulations to now Sir Michael Palin, and he may be right – he may end up as the only knighted member of Monty Python (here)…

…and despite the fact that “the old gray lady” is still capable of garbage like this, they are also capable of great reporting such as that presented in the following video…this man’s wife and children in Afghanistan were likely killed by a U.S. air strike, though that has not been confirmed of course…this video has some unsettling scenes in it of dead kids, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse not to present it…our involvement in Afghanistan has gone on for EIGHTEEN FREAKING YEARS, PEOPLE!!!, and it constitutes a bipartisan political offense…



…and by the way (and returning to domestic politics), nice job here by Katie Porter…I honestly don’t think she meant that as a cut on Bill Maher, but even if she did, that’s OK…once again, I realize that Maher and other comedians need to be held to a different standard since they need to appeal to audiences across the board, but I thought his reaction to the crowd in particular after Porter’s remark was pretty petulant, even if he probably was joking also – by the way, his final bit with his supposed speech to the graduating class of 2019 was cringingly unfunny; I actually turned him off part of the way through…he just came off as a cranky old man who apparently doesn’t have a clue as to what teenagers and 20-somethings have to deal with in this day and age – I’m sure Maher will have his equally non-humorous pal P.J. O’Rourke back on before long to cry on O’Rourke’s shoulder…



…and as long as I’m featuring late night comedians, I should really get back to putting up “Closer Look” clips from Seth Meyers again, this time with a wrap up of Generalissimo Trump’s European faux pas tour (“Dick Tracy minus the Tracy” – good one…and as others have noted, it was typically tasteless for Fix Noise to allow our Tiny Handed, Treasonous Orange Dictator to rant at Normandy in an area of hallowed ground)…



…and I don’t know anything about this guy/band or this tune, but I like the harmonies and jangly sounding guitars and it actually came from this century, so here it is.

I guess I’m supposed to feel sorry for these truck drivers who apparently now have buyer’s remorse now that the Gropenfuhrer has found a way for them to pay more in taxes, but naaah…as somebody else online said, the tiny violin factory is closed – these guys were apparently fine with all of the “lock her up” garbage, threats of violence at Trump’s little Bund rallies, making fun of not just a Gold Star family but John McCain, another patriotic American who had more courage in his hangnail than Our Treasonous, Tiny-Handed Orange Dictator has in his entire flabby corpus, to say nothing of caging children, tearing families apart, the Muslim ban, the "fine people on both sides" tiki-torch crowd insanity, and the never-ending lies that stream out of Number 45’s mouth…all of that was apparently OK with these “Trump’s America” numbskulls, but in the end, all they cared about was how much they got to keep in their wallets (more here)…



…and keeping with money matters, yeah, this economic “analysis” is about what you can expect from our low-IQ flatulent biped of a chief executive (Ana Kasparian discusses with Brooke Thomas and Steve Bramucci)…

…and speaking of political demagoguery, yesterday marked the 65th anniversary of Joseph Welch’s brave commentary in defense of the U.S. Army against “Tail Gunner Joe” McCarthy (more here…and let’s not forget Roy Cohn’s link to Generalissimo Trump also)…



…and as far as I’m concerned, Welch’s timeless, courageous words could also apply to Claire McCaskill based on this clip, with the gender adjusted of course – I couldn’t figure out how she could actually lose last year to an unctuous, lying fraud like Josh Hawley, but it’s becoming clearer every day (I think Michael Brooks absolutely nails it here, though the whole panel is good also)…

Well, here we go again…there’s probably more we need to find out about this latest gun carnage in our country, but apparently this lone lunatic actually DIDN’T use an assault rifle, but did somehow get ahold of a silencer for at least one of his two .45-caliber handguns (here – and how the hell is THAT legal also?)…also, it seems that in January, the GOP legislature in Virginia killed a bill to ban large-capacity clips such as the one used by the shooter (here)…figures…



…and speaking of murderous violence, I neglected to mention that last Friday was the 10th anniversary of the killing of Dr. George Tiller; here is Cenk Uygur with a TYT commentary from that time (more here)…



…and as long as we’re on the subject of abortion, the NowThis clip tells us about the battle being fought over it in Alabama; yeah, I have to admit that there are times when I have to check my own sense of entitlement also…easy to feel like “oh, look at this nonsense going on in the south – what is wrong with these people?” when in reality, we have no bragging rights whatsoever above the Mason-Dixon Line…and besides, that’s just more of the “divide and conquer” strategy that the other side wants so we keep yelling at each other while they keep giving tax cuts to the one percent (or even a fraction of that), starting wars without end, wrecking our public schools, stealing our health care, trying to rob us of Social Security, etc. - and I think this is some telling stuff also…



…and Sam Seder and the TMR crew tell us about Bernie Sanders pushing back on someone in Nevada who said he didn't campaign enough for HRC...I personally did not blame Bernie for that because I could see that he was campaigning as he said, but I DO blame the "Bernie or Bust" crowd who kept screaming about the super-delegates, which I admit was idiotic on the part of the DNC, but it seemed like some of Bernie’s supporters would not brook the idea of HRC as their candidate and were looking for ANY excuse...to be honest, I think there were a lot of dirty tricks going on to rev up the animosity between the Clinton and Sanders camps, launched by Bannon and co. probably with Russian help, and Bernie couldn't be expected to both campaign and clean up that garbage at the same time...I think his staff should have been more wise to that stuff, and this may be a bit of a tipoff...

I know one minute of this demented lying lunatic is way too much, but I think this needs to be presented for the very reason stated by Brian Tyler Cohen, namely, that – yeah – the Gropenfuhrer wants to see his political enemies put in jail at a minimum or, at a maximum, put to death…



…and I think the irony of this is almost too precious for words, as Stephen Colbert points out (re, the federal judge who will hear the appeal of the subpoena for the tax records…oh, and remind me to never visit Montoursville, PA – I’d sooner take a trip to Guatemala first…and I know we went over the Katie Porter/Ben Carson thing once before, but I think it’s worth a replay)…



…and this is the time of year for a lot of yard work I realize, especially with a bit of nice weather, so I think this story is even more important about Mike Papantonio talking with fellow attorney Kim Adams about the CA verdict in the Roundup case (and yeah, I know this is from The Putin Network, but the reporting looks solid…I think Pap’s outrage here is totally justified)…

…and yesterday marked the 138th anniversary of the founding of the Red Cross…I’ve found out some questionable stuff concerning this once-esteemed organization which has been under CEO Gail McGovern for a little while now (here), but nothing current…I don’t understand why someone in her position running a nonprofit should be making a mid-six figure salary at a minimum, like this cretin also, but I guess that’s why I’m just a filthy, unkempt liberal blogger…this tune comes to mind (never an excuse not to donate, though, if you have the opportunity).

Seth Meyers gives us a “Closer Look” on the Repugs and their recent spate of anti-abortion bills across this country (I’m definitely not a “legal eagle,” but here’s what’s going on – they KNOW most of these will be overturned on appeal, but one may get through, and that will be the vehicle to ride, as it were, to the High Court to try and overturn Roe…the wingnuts will also look at the legal wording used to shoot down the bills and try to find some kind of an opening based on that also – and I think Meyers’ comment at the very end was based on this)…



…and I know there was a reference to Elizabeth Warren in the prior clip, but Lawrence O’Donnell tells us more here about Warren’s decision not to have a town hall on the Fix Noise Propaganda Network…



…and “The Damage Report” crew tell us about Florida Republicans blocking felons who have served their time from voting again by having to pay an indeterminate amount of fines/legal fees first (which, inconveniently for the wingnuts, is actually in opposition to how people in that state already voted…not that THAT has ever stopped them before, of course)…

…and Pap and Farron Cousins tell us that the FEC, on a party line vote, decided not to try and keep dark money out of our political campaigns – I definitely think they’re going too easy on Russia and dismissing all of the garbage from our former ol’ buddy Vlad Putin – why the hell should Russia spend a dime trying to influence our elections when they can just hack our infrastructure and do what they want (I’m including this primarily because of their criticism of Saudi Arabia, among other nation/state miscreants)…



…and speaking of Middle East matters, I’m afraid the Gropenfuhrer and his minions are about to enter a new, horrifying stage of this utter pestilence of a *presidency,* and believe me when I tell you that I want to be wrong – I think more than a little bit of a hint is Secretary of State Mike Pompeo apparently ratcheting up messes all over the world (with the all-too-willing help of “Blow ‘Em Up” Bolton), including with Iran as noted here, probably because it helps to keep their lizard-brained supporters perpetually scared and wanting to vote for team “R”…I believe the quote from the “Batman” movie was “some men just want to watch the world burn” (potentially starting a war for oil, and the kicker is that the damn oil wouldn’t even be coming here but to Asia instead…not trying to justify any of this lunacy in any way, I hasten to add)…



…and in somewhat of a related story (when it comes to oil anyway), I give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 5/6/09…this is a musical selection, and I can’t recall the last time I did that, but I think it’s timely given this (with maybe a tour next year, apparently).

Monday Stuff

I don’t think Dem U.S. House Rep Tim Ryan has any business running for president, but I applaud him for raising hell in this video on behalf of the Lordstown, Ohio GM workers who will, in all likelihood unfortunately, lose their jobs, as Brian Tyler Cohen tells us (as always, the issue is wages, and as always, the answer for that is strong unions)…



…and I respect Alyssa Milano, but I think she’s wrong to buy into this stupid framing about choosing between Trump and choosing policy alternatives – we need to choose both (Kyle is absolutely right, but I’m not sure that Bernie is the answer; Kyle is dumping on Elizabeth Warren for her defense funding vote – that’s fair, though I think you need to make a judgment based on the totality of someone’s representation versus one single instance, and on that count I think Warren comes out ahead of Bernie)…



…and I think this is a profile in courage, you might say; Andy McKean, the longest serving Republican in the Iowa state legislature, is changing parties from Republican to Democratic because he’s fed up with the Gropenfuhrer – he’ll probably be “rewarded” for this by getting turned out of office in the next election since his district went so heavy for Adolf Twitler last election…he retired once before and my guess is that he’s just fed up with everything, and I can’t blame him, but he’s trying to do a good deed on his way out, so kudos to him…



…and hey, U.S. Senate Dems - how the hell are we supposed to take over “the world’s greatest deliberative body” next year when, apparently, NOBODY WANTS TO RUN??!!, as Farron Cousins tells us (maybe it would be helpful if we didn't have about 6 million party members, as well as Bernie, running for president)…



…and Robert Reich is back for a reminder that Medicare for All is the way to go to insure more people, provide better health care outcomes and save money – not sure what else there is to think about here, people…
