The attempt to promote the maverick image using the selection as an example does not work for me. We know mcbush wanted lieberman. We have heard about the infighting over this and the threat of a walkout by delegates if lieberman was his pick. So..what does this say about mccains character? He succumbs to pressure. He gives in. He is not his own man. He did not put country first. He put election first. The hanoi hilton may not have broken his resolve, but those in charge of mccains campaign did.
