Thursday Stuff

Farron Cousins tells us that, apparently, Senator “Aqua Buddha” Paul only wants good news when it comes to COVID-19 from Dr. Anthony Fauci – typical (for a dose of painful reality of how we fell on our metaphorical faces as a country on this, click here...and yeah, if you want to subject yourself to the entire Paul/Fauci exchange, click here)…

…and Sam and Michael Brooks of The Majority Report give us a report on Florida and Ron DeSantis, who is, in part, the inspiration for the pic at the top of this post (interesting take on NYC, and probably dead-on)…

…and turning to Texas, Ana and John I. tell us that, yes, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick truly is that big of a scumbag (yep, let’s let grammy and grandpop “die for the Dow” and blame those dastardly blue states again…and yeah, attacking Dr. Fauci again like that fool Rand Paul – like to see where Patrick got his medical degree)…

Update: Sometimes, there are just no words for "Bedbug Bret" and his idiocy (h/t Atrios).

…meanwhile, for the sane, adult point of view on this, I give you Dr. Peter Hotez speaking with Rachel Maddow on a potential COVID vaccine and the explosion of cases in Texas – “these are vertical curves at this point”…oh, sorry that isn’t more good news for Rand Paul and Dan Patrick in particular…

…and Brian Tyler Cohen shows us this clip of Biden being presidential again, to his credit (didn’t see much “cognitive decline” from Joe here – hopefully he can keep that up for as long as needed)…

…and apparently, some QAnon lunatic won a Republican U.S. congressional primary, this time in Colorado…just what we need in the midst of a global pandemic and a collapsed economy; a Sarah Palin reboot (here)…

…and I thought this was a pretty nice tribute to Carl Reiner from Lawrence O’Donnell, and yes, Reiner ended up in TV and movies after studying acting through the WPA before he was drafted to fight in World War II…yeah, there goes that bad “big gumint” actually doing something constructive to help people’s lives again (referring to the WPA, though I guess the military could help also in the right circumstance)…

…and sticking with entertainment, RIP to composer Johnny Mandel, with perhaps his most famous tune.
