Friday Stuff

(By the way, I’m really not one for self-promotion, but according to my Blogger stats, this is my 10,000th post. I don’t know if that’s a testament to perseverance, egomania or actual insanity, or equal parts of all three, but if you’re reading these words, thanks for coming along on the ride with me after lo these many years.)

To begin, Kyle Kulinski gives us the gory details on the Gropenfuhrer and his polling collapse, not just overall but on particular issues also, most infamously his war of choice in Iran (cheered on by “Bibi” and Mohammed Bone Saw, let’s not forget) ...and by the way, I know, as a candidate, Graham Platner has some personal baggage (as do we all), but I haven’t seen evidence yet to make me want to not support him in his race to try and unseat “Disappointed” Collins in Maine (and I know where Josh Shapiro comes down on Israel, and that’s sad but not surprising, but unlike a certain PA Dem senator, I don’t think Shapiro should be automatically kicked to the curb – that’s just where I come down on him FWIW)...85% of those polled by CBS say gas is going up, which is a pretty damn substantial number, and the numbers on #47’s war of choice in Iran are trending downward also of course, and a negative 60 percent approval among independents may be the most damning number of all...and I agree with Kyle on the Dems; yeah, I get the whole “Homer Simpson sink into the bushes” meme approach, but despite that, I think this is a golden opportunity to make your case for what you would do if you were returned to power, and I just hope the “D” team isn’t blowing it again (and as far as election rigging goes, I think you definitely can expect the ICE Gestapo to show up at blue city/state polling locations this fall)...the “George W. Trump” years indeed (NSFW/H)...

...and Sam Seder of The Majority Report informs us that airports are clusterf*cked because “President Deals” doesn’t want to work with Dems...and aww, those poor widdle ICE alleged strongmen are worried about getting their picture taken at airports because they think they’ll be ID’d later when they’re trying to kidnap people – cry me a goddamn river...oh, and the Tangerine Toddler is at some Memphis roundtable allegedly about crime and safety or whatever and telling his party to keep obstructing – what a winning strategy, especially given the polling Kyle just pointed out...and once more, the SAVE Act is a “solution” in search of an actual problem, making it much more difficult for married women to vote along with college students, people who don’t have a passport or birth certificate (representing at least 40 percent of this country the last I checked), people who are elderly or infirmed and can’t get to a polling location (or, if they do, they need help) – it’s just another goddamn scam by a party totally bereft of policies or ideas to help the majority of this country...and I don’t even know if our airport mess is going to get fixed despite the fact that it’s likely inconveniencing Repug politicians also – I mean, Bronzer Beelzebub has his own damn jet, so what does he care? And I don’t know how the hell the U.S. Senate Repugs are going to get the SAVE Act passed through reconciliation since that applies to funding (which the SAVE ACT doesn’t have), but I’m sure they’ll just go ahead and blow up the filibuster again, and our corporate media will just go “ho hum, both sides, both sides” (oh...and maybe, as Sam says, they may try to sneak in ICE funding through reconciliation also...ugh...and I have to admit that I’m shocked to hear Sen. Foghorn Leghorn acknowledge reality, though I’m NOT shocked to see Chuck Schumer blow the opportunity to nail them on the funding impasse...I guess Schumer didn’t check with “the Baileys” first before he decided to duck and cover again...an update is here; it looks like DHS funding w/o ICE is moving forward after all)...

Update 1: "MAGA Mike" Johnson does his master's bidding once more (here - h/t Eschaton).

Update 2: Of course, Johnson could have just called for a vote on the Senate bill, but that way, a certain orange asshat would have been deprived of a "victory" (here).

...but in case anybody out there thinks that the Senate minority leader is the only Dem politician worthy of a well-place boot, there actually is someone in our beloved commonwealth of PA who is actually more deserving, and the Logical Leftist (Jeff Waldorf) tells us about him; specifically, we find out more on John Fetterman’s plummeting approval (presented by CNN’s Harry Enten)...when Fetterman ran, he had a plus-68 rating among PA Dems, but now he’s at a negative 40 rating, which, as Waldorf points out, is a 108-point swing the wrong way, which is truly unprecedented...Fetterman’s embrace of “Bibi” and All Israel All The Time was his worst move, but there are plenty of other reasons to bail on the guy...immigration, paying homage to Mango Mussolini at Mar-a-Lago, breaking a tie in the Senate to vote for Markwayne Mullin at DHS, also backing Lee Zeldin at EPA, supporting a pardon for Pumpkin Pol Pot on his 34 felony counts, and also saying that the Dem Party runs on “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which, among other things, takes more than a little crust given Fetterman’s mental health issues...the reasons to oppose Fetterman go on and on...

...and speaking of train wrecks, David Pakman (definitely not him) has more on the total ratings collapse at “the Tiffany Network,” in particular the CBS Evening News under Bari Weiss – sounds like the worst numbers of the century (pass the popcorn)...to be honest, I’m sure David Ellison doesn’t care in any way, as long as a certain ketchup-flinging *preznit is happy (although NBC and ABC seem to be doing well, comparatively)...glad to hear Pakman point out how Fix Noise gets paid from the cable companies if you have a package that includes that trash network even if you don’t watch it (here)...

...and Desi Lydic of The Daily Show informs us of politicians who are arguably more preoccupied with social media than they should be...ummm, so Joni Ernst is leaving the Senate, but she thinks it’s “owning” the libs or something to point out that folks on SNAP benefits are eating Mickey D’s? What performative nonsense from the person who infamously said “we’re all going to die” over the loss of Medicaid benefits (here)...I have to admit that I almost expected Boomhauer to show up at the Tim Burchett leisurewear and patio chair festival, but Andy Beshear also missed the mark a bit as well, and it pains me to say that because I give Beshear credit overall...and when it comes to gratuitously self-promotion politicians, how can we exclude “Cancun” (Chili Cheese Dog Dripping Down My Shirt) Cruz, though I admit that I wish we could (and “James Coney Island”? Huuhh???)...

...and I hope you’re in the mood for a bit of a dreamy number to help us appreciate spring a little more, though I know weather-wise we’re not completely there yet (and I usually include the tune by Meredith Brooks for International Women’s Month, but maybe I’ll change things up a bit here and go with this selection instead)...

...and since this is a bit of a special occasion for yours truly, I’m going to play with the order of these videos a bit and bring us the following, which is the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 3/24/10 (going waaaay back to find this one)...for those keeping score at home, I know I recently put up the Ed Schultz/John Boehner “where are the jobs?” clip, so with the former Repug U.S. House speaker in mind, I’d like to remind us of former President Obama’s “Yes We Can” message intercut with Boehner’s predictable rant...I realize it’s painful to contemplate that we were once on the verge of turning a corner in this country before pig-headed, uninformed voters along with craven and opportunistic Repug (and cowardly Democratic) politicians did their part to make sure we slid backwards into our current predicament, but I definitely think that the history matters...I think this clip pretty plainly illustrates which side wants us to grow and evolve as a nation and which side wants us to basically torch the last 80 or so years of progress...

...but returning to the present, we know that tomorrow is the big day (here), so with that in mind, here’s another musical motivation to help us march as our means and our bodies are able and send a message to our traitorous ruling regime, and all of its sycophants wherever they may be.

Wednesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow lets us know about Our Tiny-Handed *preznit paying out a billion dollars to stop leases on wind farm development...she begins by telling us about the Revolution Wind project off the coast of Rhode Island producing enough power for 350K homes and businesses and saving New England residents $500 mil a year, so three guesses what comes next, and as always, the first two don’t count – yep, Cantaloupe Capone stopped it dead in its tracks...are you tired of the winning yet?...

...and Brian Tyler Cohen tells us about Florida state district candidate Emily Gregory winning the seat that includes Mar-a-Lago, which Trump carried by 11 points two years ago...Dem Brian Nathan also won in District 18 (which also has a Repug voter registration advantage), and yes, these results do indeed mirror what has taken place in special elections this cycle as Cohen says...it all comes back to Our Treasonous Orange Pustule, but if you’re reading this, I know you know that already...glad to hear Cohen emphasize how much Cantaloupe Capone is cleaning up (“emoluments clause”? What “emoluments clause”??) since our corporate media seems to think reporting on that is impolite, or maybe they’re afraid our flatulent orange meat sack will send out a mean tweet about them if they do...

...and I hope you’re not dealing with all kinds of long lines at TSA checkpoints because the “party of Lincoln” refuses to support a Dem bill to pay TSA and ICE, including much-needed reforms to the latter (I mean, ICE should be abolished, but for practical reasons I know you can’t do that right away – would that you could), but if you are dealing with inconvenience while trying to fly, I would ask that you keep the following clip in mind, where right-wing “pastors” say long lines at airports because of the shutdown is why they need private planes...as I’ve said, I know I need to “get right” in my own way and I’m not proselytizing, but I will say that I know when someone has gone too far in the name of religion, and I would say this is a pretty clear-cut example...and why am I not surprised to hear this Troy Brewer character tell everyone that he was able to get to Colorado Springs, since that place may be the fundie epicenter of this country (which elected Bo-Bo Boebert to Congress of course)...

...and I’d like to give credit to David Corn at Mother Jones (courtesy of Bluesky) for the reminder that today is the 115th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, a galvanizing tragedy in this country’s labor history...146 people died mainly because of sweatshop work conditions (exits blocked, no fire prevention methods such as water sprinklers)...the tragic event helped spur the creation of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, as we learn in the video...

...and Jimmy Kimmel describes the official ’28 Olympic colors, which do indeed reflect Combover Caligula, as Kimmel notes, even the color for the bruising on #47’s chubby hands...and I suppose letting Melania name the participating countries would actually give her something to do between what is likely her full-time job of pretending not to be married to the Tangerine Toddler...however, because it’s a day of the week with a “y” in it, we must be inflicted once more with verbal flatulence from “Mr. Melania” (I’m sure he would just LOVE to be called that)...can’t think of a word to describe how demented it is that Bronzer Beelzebub thinks we’re the only country with mail-in voting, which (as we find out) he used himself...and I know I already noted the $1-billion-to-kill-windmills thing in the Maddow clip, but I have no problem with mentioning it again (and “Man-Boob Of La Mancha” – good one)...oh, and I’m SUUURRRE Iran gave Cheetoh Hitler a “prize” for blowing up their energy infrastructure and bombing that school were 100 girls were killed – just no words for some of this madness...and it looks like “America’s Mayor” is slowly turning into Nosferatu before our eyes...and yeah, let’s give new DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin the treatment he deserves once more...and I’m not going to waste another calorie pointing out the typically ridiculous lies from our *preznit about trans kids and sports (“transgender for everyone”)...and I realize that “Cancun” Cruz doesn’t care about the truth either, but in a weird way, he actually did the Dems a favor by pointing out all of the Senators involved in the ’20 fake electors scam – might not be a bad idea for everyone listed on that gray poster to “lawyer up” (and I can picture Cruz as the guy in the back corner booth of a Denny’s trying to hawk costume jewelry or knockoff Rolex watches or something to gullible rubes)...and I guess this is the “15 minutes” for “Palm Beach Pete,” who seems like a good guy (I thought the T-shirt was a nice touch)...

...and tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of the release of “Wings at the Speed of Sound,” including this tune.

Tuesday Stuff

(Posting might still be goofed up for a little while...I'm just not sure yet.)

Mike Figueredo brings us the story of three-time Trump voter Amanda Robbins in Millersburg, PA, who apparently has FINALLY seen the light; looks like it took rising gas prices for her to “get religion”...this Trump voter was fine with supporting “Bibi” and his genocide in Gaza (and yes, I know Biden was bad on that also) along with bombing a school of Iranian girls and killing all of them, along with the legion of other awful behavior from our 47th *preznit, but paying 50 cents more a gallon for gas is what woke her up; just no words...anther three-time Trump voter finally perceives reality when he discovered at last that the Gropenfuhrer has less than zero interesting in bringing down the price of housing, as if ANY president can do that by themselves (and Gen Z men, some of them anyway, are breaking from Our Treasonous Orange Pustule over the Iran war)...and as far as all of these remorseful Trump voters is concerned, what the hell did you expect from a con man who has seen multiple businesses of his collapse and who has also been convicted on 34 counts of illegally using campaign funds to pay off a p*rn star, to say nothing of being held civilly liable in a New York court on a charge of what is basically r*pe? Did you HONESTLY expect that he would give a damn about you, ESPECIALLY when he can’t run for anything anymore and officially has nothing to lose for his awful actions? Also, I share Figueredo’s concern about the Illinois 8th District Dem primary; I wasn’t sure exactly how Melissa Bean won, but the foul, fetid influence of AIPAC does explain a lot, sadly (and I definitely share Figueredo’s frustration...NSFW/H)...

...and this clip is a day or two old, but I definitely didn’t want to let it “fall through the cracks”...Brittany Page lets us know that 28 million Americans are skipping meals, borrowing money, prolonging medications, cutting back on utilities and taking other measures to pay for health care expenses, while Combover Caligula has a meeting to discuss his tacky gold inlay at the Kennedy Center (and I’ll ALWAYS call it that)...looks like Bronzer Beelzebub is closing the venue to add his particularly tasteless brand of décor, but good luck trying to find acts other than (possibly) Kid Rock, Nicki Minaj and Ted Nugent to perform there...oh, and the Tangerine Toddler is so pleased with the fact that no taxpayer dough will be involved, supposedly (damn well better not be for this); his egomania is truly bottomless (but a sentence or two later, he says that there will be “tremendous amounts of money” from the Big Beautiful Clusterf*ck presumably to pay for this mess...I don’t think he could tell the truth if his life depended on it, assuming he even knows what it is )...and oh yeah, our ridiculous health care costs in this country are making people forego buying a home, taking a vacation, adopting a child, retiring, and on and on...

...and I know I’ve cut back on TYT clips for what I believe are good reasons, but I’m going to include this one with John and Cenk commenting on a clip of PA’s Republican U.S. House mistake (one of them) Scott Perry, who thinks Iran will pay for the war...you know, the one where we’re bombing the crap out of that country to make Israel and Saudi Arabia happy (oh, excuse me - looks like Perry can't say the "w" word either..this "action"??...anyone who votes for this chucklehead in PA after this idiotic pronouncement should get an MRI on their cranium to detect any activity whatsoever)...I didn’t know the wingnuts were actually using the “47 years ago” thing going back to the hostage crisis (even though that was never an actual war, you assclowns), but I guess they were bound to come up with that since they have absolutely nothing else to try and justify this madness...

...and I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History,” and we’re going back to 3/24/11 to revive this clip of the late, great Ed Schultz calling out then-Repug U.S. House Speaker John “Man Tan” Boehner with his favorite bleat of “where are the jobs?” Well, if you’re looking at the overall presidency of Barack Obama, then more info is here....as for Our Treasonous Orange Pustule, not so much (here – about 181,000 total for 2025, just 15,000 a month on average...with our economy, if you’re not adding about 100,000 a month, something is definitely wrong)...

...and Seth Meyers gives a “A Closer Look” (through a glass darkly, you might say)...looks like Pumpkin Pol Pot is sending ICE to our airports, I guess because he’s not satisfied with beating and murdering those opposing him on our streets and other public areas but now also wants to invade our traveling spaces (and by the way, Democrats have put forward spending bills to fund the TSA and ICE’s non-capturing activities, but Sweaty Orange Bronzer Boy keeps saying “NOOOOOO” as he likely gobbles down another happy meal)...#47 is also looking for ANY exit ramp out of his Iran mess, so I guess throwing SecDef Kegseth under the proverbial bus is part of that...we’re reminded of Our Treasonous Orange Pestilence acting completely in (lack of) character in response to the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller, a man with more integrity in a single molecule than #47 has in his entire corpulent, overfed body (and Kristen Welker once more tries to generate a scintilla of sympathy for Mueller from Scott Bessent, and the result is completely predictable)...and Mush Mouth Tom Homan thinks that all the TSA does is “guard exits” and ICE can do that also?? I’m sure TSA workers are just so thrilled to hear that...

...and as noted here, Moby recently said that he thinks “Lola” by the Kinks is transphobic, which is particularly dumb when you realize that the song was embraced by trans punk rock pioneer Ginger Coyote as well as Jayne County, rock’s first openly trans singer, as the linked HuffPo article tells us...Dave Davies defended the tune and was hesitant a bit to call out Moby over his criticism, and I get that a bit since Davies is reluctant to go after a peer, but I still think that’s an idiotic remark by Moby.

I mean, where does this end? Are you going to try to ban “Walk On The Wild Side” by Lou Reed for the lyric, “shaved her legs and then he was a she”? Or Al Stewart’s song “What’s Going On?” because of the lyric “You walked like Greta Garbo but you talked like Yogi Bear” (the song ostensibly was about David Bowie). Hell, why not try excluding ANYTHING from Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust phase, or for that matter, any “glam” rockers from the 70s since they were all pretty damn androgynous?

Well, if that isn’t an excuse for the tune in question, I don’t know what is.

Monday Stuff

John Iadarola and Keith Edwards of The Damage Report bring us more madness from Cheetoh Hitler...jeez, when Our Ochre Abomination can’t even make nice with Peter Douchebag, well, isn’t that time to just make the #25thAmendmentNow official? And oh yeah, apparently no one but our alleged orange genius knew that Iran would retaliate as they did – I would say that what has happened was indeed expected by EVERYONE IN THE GODDAMN WORLD WITH A BRAIN!!!...and “thousands and thousands of missiles,” huh? I think that last lonely synapse in his noggin is flickering at this point (and I share Edwards’ concern about “midterm shenanigans,” which are already underway...good point about the election day bomb threats in ’24, which were never investigated as nearly as I can tell...God, I wish JUST ONCE that SOMEBODY from our press corps would call out this demented orange fool for the liar he truly is)...

...and Jesse Dollemore and Brittany Page bring us the disgusting spectacle of Cantaloupe Capone celebrating the death of former FBI head Robert Mueller, which is totally expected for our flatulent orange meat sack...good point about how it’s apparently OK for #47 to do that, in contrast with all the folks who were attacked for not being sufficiently mournful over the killing of Charlie Kirk (and leave it to Couch Boy to get it wrong here also)...good point by Page that there was a time when Repugs would actually do the right thing and properly mourn Mueller’s passing (and by the way, I never blamed Mueller for maybe not going as far as I would have liked with his report because Bill Barr sat all over it and wouldn’t let Mueller go in the direction I personally wanted...I think it was pretty plain when Mueller testified before Congress that he basically wanted our legislature to take his findings and use them for the required prosecution, which, thanks to Merrick Garland, didn’t happen)...good point by Page that it’s a stoo-pid and useless exercise to ask some of the flunkies in our cabinet what they think about their boss dancing on Mueller’s grave, notably Scott Bessent, who indeed should NEVER be allowed to live down his glazing of his boss here; that said, I would ask Kristen Welker what the hell do you THINK Bessent would say? Do you HONESTLY BELIEVE that he’d criticize Dear Orange Leader?? (NSFW/H)...

...and Farron Cousins discusses young MAGA voters (35 and under apparently) abandoning #47 – took them long enough...and I think there’s a lot more going on here than a “vibe shift,” by the way...I don’t know who the hell wrote that WaPo editorial (trying to be hip or something), but I’m sure it’s causing Ben Bradlee and Mrs. Graham to do somersaults in their respective graves...in fewer words, these voters, like anybody else who supports the Tangerine Toddler, got utterly played and they don’t have the first clue about what to do in response (although calling a therapist is probably a good first step)...

...and given that I mentioned earlier about the double standard of Trumpists speaking out against those who weren’t sufficiently grieving over the death of Charlie Kirk while acting like it’s OK to trash Robert Mueller, I should remind us of last week’s clip of the two goofballs advocating the death of James Talarico, which apparently is fine also as far as they’re concerned – given that, I’d like to include Talarico’s response here...

...and here’s a tune from Mr. Newberger about the top story we’re all dealing with in one way or another...

...and today marks the 70th anniversary of the release of Elvis Presley’s debut recording (here), which consisted entirely of cover tunes since he was starting out; “Blue Suede Shoes” is probably the most remembered number, though this was included also.

Friday Stuff

Jesse Dollemore tells us that some nematode named Brooks Potteiger (a follower of SecDef Pete Kegseth’s “pastor” Doug Wilson), is apparently praying for the death of Texas Dem U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (here)...what a POS this Potteiger guy is...as usual, Jesse is spot-on about the Constitution and prohibition of a particular religion sponsored by our government, and I don’t know anybody else who’s saying that “Christian” nationalism in this country is our equivalent to the Taliban (including this William Wolfe charlatan), but Jesse is right about that also IMO, with Potteiger et al oppressing folks of all kinds of other faiths in the process...also, this Michael Cloud life form thinks “the left” only knows about Matthew:25; well, speaking only for myself, I’m familiar also with the letters of St. Paul and the Sermon on the Mount, though I definitely AM NOT a “holy roller” by any means, though I WILL say that the common theme is helping the poor and caring for your neighbor, and I definitely think Cloud doesn’t get that despite what he says...and of course, leave it to a Repug like Cloud to suddenly care about THE DEBT THE DEBT THE DEBT!!! when it comes to spending for something besides war and doling out tax cuts for the rich, proving Jude Wanniski and his “Two Santa Claus” theory once again (NSFW/H)...

...oh, and before we get all misty eyed over the departure of Chuck Norris into, presumably, some karate studio in the great beyond, let’s not forget that he and his wife issued this beyond ridiculous pronouncement about what was at that time the potential for a second term under President Barack Obama...I had to “set the wayback” on this clip from David Pakman to tell us about it...

...to be fair to Norris, he definitely didn’t come across as a strident “true believer” of a movement conservative to his credit, though I definitely cannot say that about another wingnut who just left us, and that would be former NRA head David Keene...he and fellow scumwaffle John Lott ended up giving a commencement address to a whole bunch of empty chairs, each representing a student killed from gun violence who would never see graduation (here)...still can’t get my head around the fact that important statements like this (the chairs I mean) will NEVER shame soulless right-wing cretins like these two into doing the right thing, though I of course applaud this then as now by Manuel and Patricia Oliver, whose son Joaquin “Guac” was killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in 2018 (a link to the group "Change The Ref" that they founded is here)...Keene and Lott were told the address would be filmed, but the two found out later that the whole thing was staged (as noted in the clip, if they’d actually checked, they would have found out that James Madison Academy, the school allegedly filmming their address, didn’t exist).

Oh, and as noted here, Keene helped mobilize a coalition of Repug senators to block a bill to expand background checks on gun purchases, because of course...Keene also opposed a United Nations Arms Treaty, wrongly saying it was a plot by the Obama Administration against the 2nd Amendment...Keene also alleged that Obama would impose “radical limits on the 2nd Amendment” after the gun massacre at Sandy Hook (if only).

Here’s the “empty chairs” clip (and I believe the phrase “rest in piss” is apropos)...

...and Sam Seder of The Majority Report explains why trying to shut down Kharg Island (presumably to bomb it, given this idiotic crew) could severely hurt Iran’s oil exports...good point that this might be not too awful of a strategy for fighting a war, but assuming you somehow win and you’re responsible to repair the damage, you’ll be screwed...pretty pathetic that we’re lifting sanctions on Iranian oil to do SOMETHING to keep the price under $200 a barrel – I mean, if you’re going to fight the damn war, is it asking too damn much to be consistent in your strategy? And yes, as Sam also points out, Obama and Biden were unfreezing Iranian assets that were originally frozen after the Shah was deposed in 1979 – no, those two weren’t “giving Iran money”...ugh...and oh yeah, along comes Our Sweaty Orange Meat Sack to give us his utterly demented version of how his war is proceeding (oh, sorry...I’m supposed to call it a “little excursion,” like he’s taking a detour of a flight to Mar-a-Lago)...and of course, that bit about another president saying he wanted to do what #47 did in attacking Iran is still another lie...and just when you thought all of this couldn’t get more bizarre and disgusting, along comes Couch Boy to turn the stoo-pid up to 11, you might say (and when it comes to the alleged green energy “scam,” allow me to present this; I’ll admit that Denmark may have soured on solar, but they’re into wind big time, and last I checked, that country didn’t choose to fight any wars for oil...and yeah, one NATO member country had to prepare for a potential invasion from another NATO member country by getting ready to blow up some airfields – just add that to the pile of sick generated on a daily basis from this wretched bunch)...

...and Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show tells us that SecDef Kegseth wants another $200 bil for our war of choice in Iran, but of course, this country can’t find the dough for universal pre-K, extending ACA credits, funding Medicaid including community hospitals, helping our farmers by creating new markets for their crops, supporting debt-free college, universal basic income, community broadband access, affordable housing, funding clean energy initiatives, rebuilding our infrastructure including repairing our power grids, and on and on (and we revisit Our Blundering Orange Fool’s utterly inappropriate remark about Pearl Harbor)...I know I just had a clip of Klepper a couple of days ago, but I absolutely had to include this one also because of Afroman’s court victory; glad I can wrap up the week with SOME good news...

...and I started this week with a newer tune, so I’ll likely end it with another recent selection (and with the first video of this post in mind).

Thursday Stuff

Anybody who voted for this orange scumwaffle in ’24 (maybe in ’16 also) should have a big red “T” tattooed onto their foreheads to advertise their stoo-pidity to the whole world...yeah, just go ahead and piss off one of our most important allies for no good reason...

...oh, and speaking of Japan, they have a 73 percent unfavorable opinion of Cheetoh Benito’s war of choice against Iran, as Sam Seder and the crew of The Majority Report tell us here, with Harry Enten of CNN giving a breakdown of the incredibly negative (and not surprising) global opposition, which could have been foreseen by anyone with an actual brain...yeah, it’s going to take awhile to repair some of the goodwill #47 has utterly destroyed...maybe a decade or two, assuming sane political leadership in this country (which is a big “if,” I know)...

...and Anne Applebaum, staff writer for The Atlantic, gives us more of a historical context – Mango Mussolini is doing his best (worst?) to destroy global alliances that this country has forged over about 80 years or so...

...and John and Nina Turner of The Damage Report discuss Dem U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff holding “Tokyo Rose” Gabbard’s feet to the proverbial fire over who’s responsible for the threat assessment when it comes to Iran in particular and their nuclear capability, with Gabbard trying to evade responsibility (I have to admit that the phrase “ovarian audacity” is a new one)...and believe me when I say that, as someone who once supported John Edwards, I’ve tried to be extra circumspect about politicians who seem to show up late for the party, you might say, and Gabbard to me was always one of those people; she was a fraud then, and she’s an even bigger one now...

...and turning to domestic matters, Chris Hayes informs us that, as bad as the Tangerine Toddler’s approval rating is overall (and it is for sure), it gets worse when he’s polled about what you could call his priorities, with about 70% saying he’s not paying enough attention to the issues that ostensibly got him re-elected (and that includes #47 acting like the ketchup-flinging ingrate we know he is if he doesn’t get his precious SAVE Act to suppress voters everywhere in an effort to make sure Repugs keep control of Congress)...Hayes speaks with NYT columnist Jamelle Bouie and former Dem Senator Jon Tester (I’m actually shocked to hear that Tim Scott collaborated with Elizabeth Warren on a housing bill – I just don’t know enough about that at the moment to say anything, but the ban on single-family homes to rent sounds sketchy – but of course it may go for naught if you-know-who doesn’t end his hissy fit and sign it into law)...and I don’t know much about this Mark Dubowitz person, but even among his most insane followers, I refuse to believe #47’s Iranian mess has 90 percent approval...good point that the cost of fertilizer for farmers is in the stratosphere also in addition to gas because both are affected by the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz...

...and Johnny Rivers debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 with this tune on this day in 1966 (another homage to Patrick McGoohan, who lives on in this humble little blog...today would have been his 98th birthday, oddly enough).

Wednesday Stuff

(Posting might get a little flaky over the coming days...I'm just not sure yet).

Rachel Maddow discusses how other nations are taking advantage of the abysmally poor planning by our ruling regime in executing the war with Iran, including Energy Secretary Chris Wright saying we were escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz, when we weren’t as it turns out...also, it looks like the decision was made fortunately for us NOT to escort ships through the Strait since it would be a “kill box”...but oh yeah, soon a “coalition of allies” will magically appear to escort ships instead of our navy doing that – uh huh...and as always, when it comes to EVERYTHING from this utter disaster of a *presidential administration, Russia emerges as perhaps the only winner here, and they’re also helping Iran attack our troops and target facilities in the Mideast (I’m old enough to recall when we had political parties with actual spines who would speak up and mobilize public support against unpopular wars, but I guess we’ll have to consult the history books if we want to learn about that)...so what does Pumpkin Pol Pot do in response? FURTHER lifting sanctions against Russia...that’ll show them! Oh, and it looks like our DOJ is asking a court to withdraw a guilty plea from a guy linked to Russian intelligence...the hits just keep on coming, and that includes dropping a case against a Turkish bank accused of laundering billions for Iran...oh, and speaking of money, Wonder Boy Jared Kushner is still trying to “make bank” in the Middle East with our dear friends the Saudis while war rages...yep, it does indeed look like our military has been rented out to Israel (which we knew already) and the Saudis...I think calling this whole thing a quagmire is being kind...

...and Kyle Kulinski brings us a clip of 1st Trump term SecDef Mark Esper saying Cantaloupe Capone is losing the Iran war, bringing what I would call some pretty solid analysis to the table (Esper I mean)...man, is Kyle ever right about the influence of the actual adults during the reign of #45...I would add H.R. McMaster and John Kelly to that list; I mean, yeah, they were still conservative, but they had a bit of common sense and actual experience...and when John “Blow ‘Em Up” Bolton looks like the freaking voice of reason, I think it’s safe to say that we’re looking at one great big sh*t sandwich and we’re all going to have to take a bite...and the “smokey-eyed sociopath” Mr. Hillbilly Elegy – good one (NSFW/H)...

...but despite how bad #47’s military misadventure gets, our *preznit will always have the fundie nut jobs in his corner, including this Todd Lamphere character, saying “we’re behind him” when it comes to the war, the jackbooted ICE Gestapo, etc. (of course, not that these people have the slightest inclination to actually carry a weapon to support our country of course)...

...well, to lighten the mood a bit, I give you this item, where Jesse Dollemore tells us about horny MAGA men getting all worked up over a Trumpist woman who happens to be an AI – way too damn funny (especially making donations to her “OnlyFans” account, which, as Jesse says, probably went to some graphic designer who came up with this scam)...this person had better keep a low profile, since I can’t imagine what the rubes will do when they find out that they were utterly played yet again, especially when it comes to the “Border of Peace” (ROFLMAO)...NSFW/H...

...and Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show gives us the rundown that we probably didn’t know we needed (and why am I not the least bit surprised to see the Tangerine Toddler now focusing on Cuba, since everything is just so peachy in Iran?)...and last I heard about this Joe Kent guy, he lost to conserva-Dem Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in the U.S. House, making both of them about the same in my book (and nice job by Pumpkin Pol Pot to appoint the guy who was supposedly “weak on security” to FREAKING HEAD COUNTER-TERRORISM!!)...and man, am I snacking on the popcorn while watching the tweet war between Mark (“Micropenis”) Levin and “Maniac Megyn” Kelly (and even Marjorie Taylor Greene too? Looks like I’m getting extra helpings)..and I’m not going to make a joke about the new ayatollah because, unlike other media idiots (and I don’t mean Klepper, or Troy Iawta), I happen to think actual war, with our people in harm’s way, is serious (NSFW/H)...

...and today marks what would have been the 85th birthday of Wilson Pickett.

Tuesday Stuff

David Pakman tells us about Dems winning another special election, this time in New Hampshire - Democrat Bobbi Boudman defeated Republican Dale Fincher, flipping a state house seat that was won by Cantaloupe Capone two years ago by nine points as noted here (and believe me when I tell you that, overall with some exceptions, New Hampshire trends towards the “R” side; I get mad at conserva-Dems like Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan at times, but they know the landscape of that state better than I do)...as impressive as the 13-point swing here towards the “D” team is, it also means a lot that the strategy of “let’s drown the Dems in negative ads” apparently didn’t work this time fortunately, and it’s also heartening that the “R” team lost on school vouchers, showing that there’s more support for public schools than our corporate media thinks (and Jesse Dollemore talked last week about Shawn Harris leading so far in GA-14)...

...and David Shuster of Rebel HQ brings us the story of “I did that!” stickers apparently popping up at gas pumps all over the place, aimed right at Cheetoh Benito; turnabout is definitely fair play here, since that stoo-pidity was ubiquitous against “No Malarkey Joe” in ’24...GREAT point that “energy dominance does NOT mean energy independence,” given that we lead the world in liquified natural gas from fracking (which is ruining our landscapes, but that’s a whole other story)...oh, and now along comes human phallus (no, not Baby Goebbels for once) Brendan Carr to basically threaten news orgs to tow the line from our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes or lose their broadcast licenses, a threat that will survive exactly zero court challenges...oh, and it also looks like SecDef Kegseth punted the awful attack on the Iranian girls school over to CENTCOM to avoid accountability, just like a good Trumpist lickspittle is supposed to...

...and yesterday marked the 23rd anniversary of the murder of peace activist Rachel Corrie; she was crushed by a bulldozer that was demolishing Palestinian settlements in Gaza...I actually didn’t know what happened, but I saw the torrent of wingnut ridicule heaped upon her posthumously so I looked into it...she actually survived the attack and lingered for a few hours; the pictures are horrifying...maybe some insanity mixed in with her incredible bravery; we’ve been coddling “Bibi” and his hellish thugs for way too damn long, and I think we should commemorate anyone who stands up to that...

...and Emma V. of The Majority Report tells us about Dick Durbin in the Senate commendably speaking up against the SAVE Act, which, yet again, is a “solution” in search of an actual problem...didn’t know that driver’s licenses by themselves wouldn’t be accepted as valid under the Act, but given the people behind this stoo-pidity, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised...also didn’t know that the Gropenfuhrer is holding out his endorsement of John Cornyn in Texas to try and get Cornyn to go along with this mess, but to be honest, I don’t think #47 has the gravitas he once had on this, especially in a Repug primary (maybe in the general, but to be honest, I’m not even sure about that either)...and man, is Matt Lech right about Repug voters feeding on horsesh*t and our corporate media totally falling down when it comes to calling it out...one of the many good points here is how voter suppression overwhelmingly influences minority communities and those where people of color live, as well as people with disabilities...more on Cleta Mitchell, a woman who basically has been doing her best to “ratf*ck” Democratic elections for over 30 years (and all because she ran unsuccessfully as a Dem for Oklahoma lieutenant governor in 1986), is here and here...also, I don’t know why the hell David freaking Axelrod just SHUTS THE HELL UP about the Iranian school bombing; he certainly doesn’t have any intel on that, nor do I of course, but that has all the hallmarks of some of the garbage Israel has pulled in Gaza (referencing the Rachel Corrie clip a bit - NSFW/H)...

Update 3/18/26: This utterly awful piece of legislation is being debated today; call 866-393-5761 and tell your Senator to vote No.

...and Seth Meyers gives us “A Closer Look” on the Iran war that is A) Just beginning or B) Just ending, is a A) Short excursion or a B) Longer war, along with oil prices that are A) Going up or B) Coming down; yeah, they don’t have a clue about this...and I’m sure Huckleberry Graham just put on his oversized Florsheim shoes (and you KNOW he has a pair, right?) and told Combover Caligula to bomb bomb bomb, bomb Iran, like Graham’s old pal John McCain once sang...OK, so we have “warfighter” SecDef Kegseth acting like there’s no end in sight, along with Mango Mussolini with those lonely synapses flickering to life and not giving a straight answer on this or anything else...ugh (and it doesn’t matter how much that human thumb Brendan Carr tells the media to stop reporting on the war in a way that hurts his boss’s fee fees; pictures of tankers blowing up from Iranian missiles are going to be a fact of life for a little while)...and golly gee, you mean Baby Newton Leroy is ready to throw in the towel already while he’s complaining to Kudlow? Good thing I never shared a fox hole with him (full disclosure: I never shared a fox hole with anybody)...and #47 tells his great unwashed followers that he was falling asleep while contemplating the gravest action a president can take (and worrying about the branding of course); I’m sure the families and friends of our casualties will be happy to hear that...

...and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who observe.

Monday Stuff

Oh look, Combover Caligula’s war of choice versus Iran has caused “the largest disruption in the history of the global oil market” according to industry analysts, as we learn from Emma Vigeland and The Majority Report...and of course, in response, #47 is telling everyone to SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP about high gas prices and deal with it (yeah...let’s see how well THAT message plays out in November)...prices have jumped 35 cents in a week, and it will likely go higher...and oh yeah, here come more lies about Iran killing US citizens for 47 years, all without proof of course (what a mental defective our *preznit truly is...let’s see if he and his lizard-brained followers chanting “U-S-A!” are still quite so rambunctious after Iran has effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz for months and the world is gripped by a COVID-like recession as a result, to say nothing of the ongoing threat to our military)...and for the umpteenth time I know, we had a nuke deal with Iran under Obama, but Trump waddled away from it...and as usual, the top fraction of 1 percent has gamed “the big casino” of our economy to clean up when we have rising energy prices, while the rest of us get nothing by comparison (and another good point is to mention the Biden clean energy initiatives that could have helped here that Cheetoh Benito destroyed...slightly NSFW/H)...

...and this clip from Canadian television (the CBC) explains why securing the Strait of Hormuz is harder than our clown car of an administration suggests (with Lyndsay Duncombe)...and we have “don’t need to worry about it” Kegseth lying as usual, especially since, as the journalist interviewed suggests, Iran has lots of options when it comes to disrupting ship traffic, including using shoulder-fired missiles; we also learn that clearing mines in the strait is dangerous and risky (which, again, should have been foreseen by any adult with an actual brain), and the ships that ARE getting through are signaling that they’re from China or Iran, and even THOSE signals are getting “spoofed” (an update is here, with the Tangerine Toddler kicking and screaming that someone else needs to clean up his mess...how disgustingly predictable)...

...and turning to domestic political matters, Belle of the Ranch tells us about U.S. Senate Repugs blocking DHS and TSA funding...it looks like Dem Senator Patty Murray commendably asked for unanimous consent on a measure to fund areas of DHS not having to do with immigration enforcement as well as for TSA and cyber security, and three guesses what happened next and the first two don’t count...yeah, Repugs have no problem caterwauling on TV and social media about how obstructionist Dems allegedly are, but when it’s time to do some actual governance, they suddenly “reach for the chicken switch,” you might say (‘don’t let them lie to you about this” indeed...and I love the shirt)...

...and I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” from 3/16/12...sadly, I think this clip from "back in the day" is timely given this awful story...oh, so this Mark Gordon Philistine who’s the governor of Wyoming signs a bill banning abortion after 6 weeks (when most women don’t even know they’re pregnant, and joining four other states with similar bans), and he acts like the lack of exceptions in the bill goes against his beliefs or whatever...but he signs the stinking thing into law anyway? What, does this guy think he should get credit somehow? Because, as always, it’s Jobs, Jobs, Jobs for Not Your Father’s Republican Party...

...and returning to our regularly scheduled war, I thought I’d include this item from Mr. Newberger...

...and I think this guy is coming to Philly on June 4th...should be a good show if his other tunes rock like this one.

Friday Stuff

Kyle Kulinski gives us an update on Cheetoh Hitler’s illegal war with Iran...and the “Axis of Epstein,” huh? (meaning Dementia Donnie and “Bibi”)...good one...and I would say that that 24 percent number (of the people who actually think Iran bombed their own school) reflects the very worst of the flatulent MAGA mouth breathers out there...it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the IDF did that and are acting like, “yeah, well, maybe it was really the U.S.”...and only 10 percent of those polled think this war will actually improve their lives; I would imagine they own stock in Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and General Dynamics...and 52 percent think this whole mess is to distract from Epstein; yep, I would say that the BS isn’t working any more also...and I think “George W. Trump” fits too (NSFW/H)...

...and I guess it was inevitable that our corporate media was going to turn all “oh, you can’t criticize Dear Leader on his war of choice with Iran or else you’re anti-Semitic,” but it looks like the WaPo has the inglorious “honor” of being the first to pile on with that, as Mike Figueredo of The Humanist Report tells us...and I have a feeling this “AI slop” video was created by wingnuts to troll our side, mainly because the production quality of the clip is awful and doing something like that is right out of their playbook (and this Op-Ed was written by a guy named Will Oremus, who appears to be a technology writer; I guess he’s legit, but I’ll withhold judgment for now)...and according to his bio, this Bret Schafer guy who is quoted is an expert in “computational propaganda,” so to be honest, I think he doth protest too much here since he’s a little too close to the subject...oh, and as far as this Anna Kelly idiot is concerned, “fake news” is good when it suits the purposes of Bronzer Beelzebub, but when those outlets report the truth and by definition are no longer “fake,” then that’s bad? Make it make sense somehow...and indeed, the utter horror of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal isn’t because he’s Jewish (to be honest, I was wondering how long it was going to take before somebody tried THAT argument); it’s because he ruined the lives of apparently hundreds of women for the benefit of the “pay no price, bear no burden” one percent (NSFW/H also)...

...and I’m not sure there’s anybody out there better than Lawrence O’Donnell when it comes to keeping a record of all of the disgusting depravity of Dementia J. Trump, and O’Donnell does so again here concerning Operation Epstein Fury; that flaming tanker in the Strait of Hormuz is emblematic of this ruinous administration...so I guess all #47 has left are these garbage videos about his war of choice to peddle to those gullible fools who have supported him – typical...

...and turning to domestic electoral matters, Jesse Dollemore lets us know that Dem Shawn Harris is the leader of all candidates from Tuesday’s special primary contest for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s GA-14 seat, though, to be fair, we still have to get to the general election, but as Jesse says, given the fact that GA-14 was once a plus-37 district for Trump...well, I don’t think you have to be a political genius to see what this portends for the “R” party...and speaking only for myself, I’m tired of this “runoff” business because that’s just MORE money spent on campaigning for another election that could be used for much better purposes; whoever gets the most votes should win the damn election the first time, whether it’s a primary or “the general”...good point by Jesse that those gerrymanders made what were some super red districts now potentially in play for the “D” team (NSFW/H as well)...

...and Jimmy Kimmel brings us up-to-date with the latest headlines (jeez, $250K of sex toys getting robbed; wonder if somebody is working on a script to make a movie out of THAT?)...and 50K TSA employees working without pay because of Repug budget games, again...and you can tell it’s time for more propaganda from Our Treasonous Orange Yam since there’s always a typo...and eeessnt eeet soouh eeen-terest-eeennng tuuuh heeer Melania spout off about her visionary creative mind dancing, or whatever that mess was (and DJT just looked so thrilled listening to that, didn’t he?)...and gee, we have Our Demented Child King receiving ANOTHER medal for something he didn’t earn – how pitiably sad (and it looks like I’d better book my trip to Hollywood Boulevard – heh)...

...and I would advise staying away from sharp objects this Sunday, especially if you want to proclaim yourself emperor for life (you can Google it if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

Thursday Stuff

Part of me wants to completely ignore these evangelical numbskulls who hope that Jehovah is getting ready to “rapture” them up to the great beyond now that their Orange Leader has joined the U.S. in Israel’s war against Iran, but on second thought, I know attention must be paid...this Drenda Keesee person sees our latest Mideast war as the fulfillment of their vision of the second coming, or something...I believe we’ll all have to make an accounting for ourselves one day, and while I readily admit that I have work to do on that score, I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of this faux spiritual frauds for anything (especially because of this)...

...and Brittany Page discusses Repug U.S. Senator Jon Husted of Ohio, who just said that people living in poverty don’t know how to navigate the real world, or some such nonsense, which is completely typical for his party of course...actually, the best way to get back at this assclown is to donate to the campaign of Sherrod Brown, who is running to return to office and boot Husted out...and yeah, this line from Husted that someone on SNAP doesn’t know how to budget is both ignorant and insulting (yet another hypothetical person Husted claims to have met – no info on this individual of course because I’m sure this person doesn’t exist)...that table from the CBPP makes it pretty clear that a family of 2 is going to have a pretty damn difficult time trying to get by on $370 a month...also telling that 40-60 percent of those in poverty have jobs, but in our end-stage capitalist economy, those wages by themselves aren’t enough...

...and Farron Cousins tells us about retiring Repug U.S. Senator Joni (“We’re All Going To Die One Day”) Ernst contorting herself to somehow find a way to blame Democrats for her party’s dismal electoral fortunes...and of course, expecting Trey Gowdy, of all people, to ask a serious question is utterly delusional (good job by Cousins to call out that little “we” tell on himself in Gowdy’s softball to Ernst)...and here is still another corporate media example (about 3,624 at least by my count) of Democrats supposedly being obligated to reach out to Repugs based on Ernst’s nonsense (and why the hell should they EVER do that?), when it is NEVER EVER the other way around (and ESPECIALLY since the Repugs run the entire federal government thanks to the dunderheaded stoo-pidity of too damn many voters in 2024...briefly NSFW/H)...

...and David Shuster of Rebel HQ lets us know that it looks like MAGA Mike Johnson now has a majority of three seats after CA Repug U.S. House Rep Kevin Kiley became an independent...and I suppose I should give Rand Paul credit for talking about what is likely to transpire this fall (though we all need to work to make that happen of course), but I don’t want to hear this “kinetic action” crap...ANOTHER Republican *preznit has launched ANOTHER war of choice in the Middle East, so let’s call it what the hell it is, OK?...and I’m not sure that “if we lose the majority in the House, it’s the end of the Trump presidency” is such a great rallying cry for Not Your Father’s Republican Party...also, the prospect of deploying ground troops to Iran is absolutely sickening, especially since that nation is getting help from China and Russia; this is exactly what “Bibi” wants, so as far as I’m concerned, he can get the IDF to do that...here’s my theory on all of this; who else remembers when Cheetoh Hitler said that we would take over Gaza after it was pretty much glassed by Israel? Well, as far as I’m concerned, Netanyahu wouldn’t have gone along with that unless there was something else in the deal, and I think our involvement in the war against Iran was that “something else”...and oil over $100 a barrel with a fifth of the world’s tanker traffic stalled is what I believe Cantaloupe Capone will be paying attention to (as much as he pays attention to anything) more than any other aspect of this war...

...and Stephen Colbert brings us up to date on the latest developments...so lemme guess; to coin a phrase, according to Bronzer Beelzebub, “war is over if you want it”; yeah, I’ll believe that at exactly half past never for our ruling gaggle of idiots, unfortunately...I give Stephen credit for trying to be entertaining about this; forcing Iran to watch the “Melania” movie, though, is truly cruel and unusual punishment...and gee, our “Secretary of War” Kegseth sure is a spendthrift on the taxpayer dime, isn’t he? So, supposedly, he set about $93 billion on fire over nonsense (as well as $225 million on new furniture) while much of this country goes without healthcare and community hospitals, as well as government services wrecked by DOGE and a completely collapsing economy...I’d like to find a way to put this clip on Linkedin so all of the folks trying to find employment can see how this regime truly expects them to “let them eat cake,” for lack of a better way to put it (no wonder Mango Mussolini got rid of all of the Inspectors General so nobody would be able to keep track of this)...and oh yeah, you’d better wear the “man shoes” to the upcoming Mar-a-Lago soiree, or you’ll be on the next flight to CECOT I suppose...

...and on this day in music history, Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman were married, London cops conducted a raid on the home of George Harrison and Patti Boyd for pot, and John Lennon (who I referenced in that quote above about war) and Harry Nillson were thrown out of the Troubadour club in LA for heckling Tommy Smothers...it’s also the 78th birthday of James Taylor, so I’d like to commemorate all of this with a Beatles’ cover tune.

Update: And what would a Fab Four tribute be without acknowledging Mr. Starkey? (here).

Wednesday Stuff

John Iadarola of The Damage Report brings us more utter madness from Pumpkin Pol Pot (and God almighty, here is YET ANOTHER “Sir” story from this lying orange clump of trans fats, and he gives us the "accordion hands" yet again)...I’m sure there actually are people in his utterly warped imagination saying we need the “Save America!” Act, which is still more delusion...and I realize Cantaloupe Capone doesn’t have the remotest clue about how federal governance works, saying that the “talking filibuster” will help pass the SAVE Act; of course, #47 has that exactly backwards...and I agree with John that, at a minimum, we should be selectively casting the stinking filibuster aside, though sh*tcanning it for good works for me too...

...and Rachel Maddow brings us the story of Dem U.S. House members going to the migrant concentration camp in Dilley, TX...typically lowdown move by the Trump regime to invite a mariachi band to perform at the White House and then arrest two members of that band and their parents, no doubt stirring what passes for the manhood of Pee Wee German (with one of the brothers in another concentration camp in that godawful state, and yes, I know there are plenty of fine Dems doing heroic work in Greg Abbott-stan)...fortunately, it looks like the pressure from the lawmakers got the family released, BUT ICE SHOULDN’T BE KIDNAPPING AND IMPRISONING ANYBODY, NOT NOW OR FREAKING EVER!!...oh, and it looks like there was a homicide at another migrant prison in Camp East Montana in “the land of the yellow rose,” which, at 30% of its ridiculous projected capacity, is also a breeding ground for a whole bunch of communicable diseases...and oh yeah, our outlaw regime is also proposing 14K and 15K max facilities, presumably to detain “unfriendlies” such as troublesome libs, impertinent journalists, etc...good for the fine folks in Georgia protesting another of these wretched places (and if you have any dough in Citizens Bank, I would advise pulling it and putting it somewhere else with all speed)...

...and Thom Hartmann reminds us of the 50-year campaign by billionaires to get people to believe conservative nonsense...the roots of this go back a looong time, to the point when it became more important for our corporate media to provide “balance” than to report on actual, verifiable truth and reality...to my mind, this all started in the 1950s with William F. Buckley, the John Birchers and Barry Goldwater; the problem is that all of that was thought to be out of the mainstream, which it was and still is, but through a variety of means (mainly the corporate takeover of our media), their propaganda ended up getting pushed so much that the work of actual professional journalists ended up on the scrap heap (and let’s NEVER forget the part The Powell Memo has played in all of this)...everyone should be forced to memorize the last 50 seconds or so in particular of this commentary...

...and with the prior clip in mind, I’d like to bring back “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 3/10/14...as the year goes forward, we’re going to be treated to more and more political ads, and I wanted to recall this one from former Alaska Dem U.S. Senator Mark Begich, where he quite rightly calls out the beyond wretched Koch Brothers (and yes, I know David departed this world in 2019)...I hope there are PLENTY of other ads calling out Chucky Koch and the billionaire class for what they’ve done to us and this country overall...

...and John Oliver nails it again, this time with a segment on the destruction of US AID...I realize it’s a mind-numbing and stupefying exercise to try and determine the absolute worst behavior of this wretched “presidential” administration (the Iran war probably rocketed to the top of that list), but the utter ruination of this vitally important agency is in the top three of the worst acts of this cabal of criminals...and yep, destroying something that amounted to one percent of the federal budget fits for these guttural lowlifes...and what I wouldn’t give to see Benny Johnson shipped off to sub-Saharan Africa so he can gleefully proclaim the destruction of US AID to communities that have lost their entire population to starvation and disease that that agency could have prevented...and yet again, Huckleberry Graham proves that he has no convictions about anything except sucking up to power...also, about the whole “waste, fraud and abuse” thing that the wingnuts like to keep yapping about, it turns out that over 94 percent of US AID funding was allocated properly, as the report tells us...and Jeremy Lewin is another one of these Trumpist characters I’d like to see jettisoned to a place with rampant malnutrition and disease so he can “define fraud” to his coal-black-heart’s content...and it looks like this Mike Benz character is the person responsible for putting US AID “in the wood chipper” – yep, another wingnut with a grudge and hurt fee fees punching down...how predictable...and a quarter of a million dead adults and HALF A MILLION dead kids because of the destruction of US AID – I know I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, but we need a permanent “truth and reconciliation” committee with subpoena power when this horror show is over to see that people go to the slam for the rest of their lives, partly because of this, though there are plenty of other reasons too...and even Dubya’s pride and joy PEPFAR (which was something he shockingly did right) wasn’t spared from the wrath of King Elon’s DOGE incels...and oh yeah, Oxford Senator Foghorn Leghorn of Louisiana has to demonstrate what he considers an affront to his sensibilities on this, as part of the wingnut “pile on”...and “little Marco” once more demonstrates that he’s an utter liar who also has no core principles either (NSFW/H)...

...and here's a newer tune to get us through the "hump day."
