Saturday Stuff

“Attention Wal-Mart Shoppers! Pepper Spray on sale in aisle seven!”

Hey, I guess it worked so well on OWS that those smiley-faced bastards decided to try it on their customers too (more here, and no, this isn’t an episode of “Jackass” – what country am I living in again?)…

…and RIP Tom Wicker; I suppose I could find better clips since this pretty much features William F. Buckley from 1967 acting typically as a pompous ass trying to trap Wicker into admitting the dreaded “liberal bias,” but my point in presenting this here is to point out that Wicker, to me, was pretty much a no-BS guy who tried first and foremost to tell the story straight, and then just let the pundits make idiots of themselves trying to read levels of meaning or whatever into that - probably a clip out there on YouTube of Wicker on "This Week With David Brinkley," since he was good on that program also…

…and Iran-Contra hit the fan 25 years ago yesterday, by the way (a rather tongue-in-cheek "tribute" from "American Dad" appears below)…

…and as much as there’s a common thread between Wal-Mart and Iran-Contra, maybe this song tells us about it (or maybe not).
