Friday Night Video

And to wrap up this week's commemoration of MTV's 25th anniversary, I now present "She's A Beauty" by The Tubes (Fee Waybill, Re Styles, the late Vince Welnick and company weren't real subtle in the early '80s, as you can see).

That's the beauty of The Tubes - they were really never subtle. What do you want from life?

This is an absolute CLASSIC! I loved this when it came out, and I am old enough to remember when it first came out, yes.

Thanks for the sharing.

My pleasure - I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The Tubes made an album called "Remote Control" produced by Todd Rundgren in '79 that absolutely knocked me out, full of a lot of witty songs and Rundgren's slick, keyboard and synthesizer-laden production style that predated what became typical for the '80s. It can be downloaded as an MP3 real cheap now, I'm sure (when I hear "T.V. Is King" from it, I stop dead in my tracks).

My other favorite video by the Tubes is "Sushi Girl," which I think is on the same recording as "She's A Beauty." They did some goofball take off on Dinah Shore cooking in a kitchen or something, only this time they were hacking up a piece of dead tuna...truly great stuff.
