Saturday Stuff

I thought this was a particularly good Lincoln Project video in light of the D-Day anniversary, contrasting honest-to-goodness leadership with what we have now (why the hell can’t the Democrats do stuff like this???!!!)…

…and speaking of phony leadership, Ana and Cenk of TYT tell us about “bunker boy” building his “wall” around the White House (and yeah, it sure would be nice to know who’s paying for this, wouldn't it, though I can pretty much guess to be honest)…

…and with another nod to history (and something Mango Mussolini would never, ever do), I have no idea if Tricky Dick’s confrontation with protestors at the Lincoln Memorial ever actually played out the way Oliver Stone depicted it, but I thought it was still instructive to show this clip from the movie…

…and Sam and the crew from “The Majority Report” show us how Buffalo cops “dogpiled” a guy interviewed on TV (this was the first video where I’ve seen the guy pushed to the sidewalk bleeding out…what the hell is wrong with these people? I guess what Cenk Uygur said is absolutely night – as far as the cops are concerned, “better to be judged by 12 than carried out by 6”)…

…and Kyle K. tells us that way more $$ has been spent on criminal justice from 1970-2018 than prevention and social programs (yep, once more, a lot of this garbage goes back to Reagan as far as I’m concerned; more on Campaign Zero is here…briefly NSFW/H)…

Update 6/8/20: And speaking of bad police behavior, apologies for missing this in my own backyard.

Update 6/10/20: An update to the prior update is here, along with a typically tone deaf response from the PPD.

...and here's another song for today's protests (more here - hope JB is OK).

Friday Stuff

A resolution was introduced in the U.S. Senate to criticize Our Orange Pestilence for cracking down on protestors in Lafayette Square so he could stage his latest disgusting photo-op, but three guesses who blocked the resolution (the pic is a hint) – Ana of TYT tells us more (and I like John’s take on this in particular; to do something about Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao at long last, click here and/or here…by the way, I don’t support Amy McGrath anymore because of this...beyond fed up with weaselly, capitulating Democrats)…

…and this is another spot-on ad from The Lincoln Project, though I’m a little uncomfortable with the phrase “a time for choosing,” since that was the title of the speech given by The Sainted Ronnie R at the 1964 Republican National Convention in support of nominee Barry Goldwater, which basically launched Reagan’s political career as noted here

…and speaking of police state behavior, I give you this clip of that monster in Bethesda, MD who ripped the flyers in support of George Floyd out of the hands of the kids and apparently chased one of them trying to film the incident…believe me when I tell you I don’t say this lightly, but I hope this asshole loses his job, his house, his car…whatever, for doing this – more here and here

Update 6/12/20: Yeah, they got this asshole (here).

…and kudos to “Berner” here who still supports the protests even though his pot dispensary was apparently vandalized in a related incident; to me, pot legalization is a “vox populi” thing – I’ve seen more arguments in favor than against…I have no doubt there are places in this country where pot will NEVER be legal, and if that’s what the residents want, that’s how it should be…for place where it IS legal, though, it’s ridiculous that they can’t run themselves like regular businesses…

…and I thought this was an instructive clip from David Pakman about the rights of protestors (there is a lot of variance by state, but as Pakman says, cops can’t seize your smart phone or arbitrarily take your backpack or other personal gear unless they can produce a warrant and show cause)…

…and more protests are planned for tomorrow as noted here – here is another related tune for the occasion.

Thursday Stuff

John Iadarola and Jayar Jackson of “The Damage Report” tell us about Generalissimo Trump deciding to “inspect” the bunker…yeeeaaaaahhh (and 2 ½ times, huh? And leave it to Brian Kilmeade to float a softball question to Mango Mussolini…”So the Secret Service took you to the bunker?”…and Trump is STILL too big of an idiot to take the hint and says instead, “No, I decided to go myself.”)…

…and the “Morning Joe” crew discuss former Trump Secretary of Defense Gen. James Mattis and Adm. Mike Mullen both speaking out against the antics of Our Treasonous, Tiny-Handed Russian Operative in An Oval Office…

…and Kyle K. tells us about our ruling criminal regime in Washington allowing foreign entities to now apparently donate to nonprofits funding our elections and not report it…I have to admit, though, that I get fed up with Kyle bashing on the Dems for going after the Trump-Russia connection…YES, KYLE, THAT IS A THING!...

…and Farron Cousins tells us about VA Repug lawmaker Amanda Chase who is apparently worried about the history of white people bring “erased” with the removal of the statue of Robert E. Lee (cry me a freaking river! And yeah, she sure sounds like she’s running for Governor all right)…

…and David Doel tells us about Dr. Cornel West laying a “truth bomb,” if you will, on CNN and Anderson Cooper; I also think West ties together pretty well the effects of racism, including excessive force by police and denial of economic opportunity, with the current moment of coast-to-coast (and global, actually) protest…

…and turning from one Canadian to another, I give you this tune as part of this week’s musical theme (I know I featured another Bruce Cockburn song recently…well, here is another one…YouTube took out the bad word, so don't worry).

Wednesday Stuff

We interrupt the disintegration of the United States of America for a moment to communicate the following: Steve King is OUTTA HERE, as somebody used to say (here, and to help J.D. Scholten, please click here)…

…and for the proverbial stroll down memory sewer with King, if you will, I give you this (with Kent Jones giving us "TMI" on King...more here)…

…and this Telegraph video tells us about protests in France over the deaths of both George Floyd and Adama Traore (here)…

Update 6/5/20: I wish I could laugh.

…and if ever there was a silence that spoke volumes, it was this one from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as Brian Tyler Cohen tells us…

…and Thom Hartmann asks how do we stop Trump and Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil from trying to kill us (and the only thing that I’ll say only somewhat in defense of our ruling cabal of idiots and criminals is that keeping a deadly pandemic out of New Zealand is a wholly other matter than trying to keep it out of this country, even though #44 managed to do it with Ebola, in particular this guy)…

…and I’m trying to keep up my theme of protest songs this week with this selection (about this).

Tuesday Stuff

(By the way, to be fair, it's very possible that this image was Photoshopped...pic on the left, I mean. However, I really don't care, because, as far as I'm concerned, it fits...Update: And this does too.)

Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop of the Episcopal diocese of Washington, D.C., speaks with George Stephanopoulos about Our Treasonous, Tiny-Handed Russian Operative’s disgusting attempt to use the site of St. John's church for photo-op purposes (and yeah, this definitely isn't surprising)…

…and Sam Seder tells us about the overreaction of Seattle’s “finest” in the face of non-violent protest…yeah, sure, use flash-bang grenades and pepper spray against people posing virtually no threat whatsoever (NSFW/H)…

…and I thought this was a particularly well-thought-out commentary from Kyle about the riots currently ripping us apart (clip is from Jordan Uhl); I’m not saying don’t do anything, but the Sixties protests basically ended when college students were slaughtered at Kent State, and unfortunately, that’s an instructive lesson for our current moment I believe (and I would lump in Rev. William Barber with Killer Mike and Dr. Cornel West...NSFW/H also)…

Update: By the way (and I know I really haven’t said anything about this), I am absolutely nauseated by the relative silence of the Democratic Party congressional “leadership” in response to all of this. I (like you I’m sure) have heard good-sounding words from some Dems like AOC and Sen. Bob Casey, but instead of just The Lincoln Project running ads “burning down” Trump and his gang, WHY THE BLEEPING HELL AREN’T THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATS DOING THE SAME GODDAMN THING???!!!! AND YEAH, SCHUMER AND PELOSI, I’M TALKING PRIMARILY TO YOU!!!!!!! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT DOESN’T CROSS MY MIND WHEN YOU CONSTANTLY BADGER ME FOR CAMPAIGN DONATIONS????!!!!

...and when it comes to echoes of the past, this comes to mind also.

Monday Stuff

Here’s the latest from Life In These United States, as somebody used to put it (more here)…

…and apparently, a certain cowardly orange Snowflake-in-Chief was hiding in a bunker…are we tired of the winning yet?...

...though he apparently has no problem engaging in a battle with cartoonists, as Ana and Cenk of TYT tell us here (typical...and yet more cowardice here from "President Bone Spurs")...

…but believe it or not (it should be noted), there is actually a positive story in all of this, and it apparently took place in Portland, OR recently (also this)…

…and Kyle presents a clip of Art Laffer interviewed by Charles Payne (I think that's who it was), with Laffer being perpetually wrong on the economics as always…and it tells you how dumb Fix Noise thinks its audience is to present a chart showing the US allegedly at the “top of the list” of countries providing economic stimulus, then to see that we’re actually in the middle of the list for a second before they cut away from it…

…and by including this song from a guy who knew a thing or two about taking to the street (here), I’m not saying we shouldn’t protest, but only to pay attention to the title of the tune (and of course, you could substitute the Gropenfuhrer now for Dubya, Carlson/Ingraham/Hannity for Billo, Jeff Bezos for Ken Lay, Barr/Pompeo for Rumsfeld, etc.).

Sunday Stuff

This clip from USA Today includes videos of the recent nationwide protests in response to the death of George Floyd…

…and this clip from a Louisville, KY TV station covering the protests in that city shows a news crew getting fired upon by that city’s “finest” (here)…

…and Thom Hartmann tells us about the RWNJs infiltrating the protests across the country…

…and returning to the other big story, as it were, that has been temporarily pushed off the proverbial front page (which makes Mango Mussolini pretty thrilled, I would think), Ari Melber recently gave us this Special Report on how the regime of Our Orange Pustule-In-Chief utterly blew it when it came to any kind of a response to head off this catastrophe (and by the way, "60 Minutes" responded to Peter Navarro with a report during the Obama years pointing out that, yes, another potential global pandemic was coming)...

…and this "Now This" clip shows a "Karen" Trump supporter in Wisconsin harassing a Puerto Rican family at what appears to be a campground (what a train wreck! Actually, though, as crazy as this sounds, she had a bit of a point about the music scaring away the fish, but the answer for that is for the camp ground to post a sign asking that noise be kept down for that reason...and as soon as she started criticizing the TYPE of music, then she'd lost the argument)…

…and I realize this NSFW/H tune has to do with London, and there are actually GOOD cops in all of this let’s not forget (and I don’t think it encourages violence – maybe I’m wrong), but to me, the message of this tune is to take care of what’s your own, and I think that’s a lesson for all of us (also in consideration of this, included in this).
