Friday Stuff

Happy 80th birthday to Social Security – Cenk and Sen. Elizabeth Warren give us a cautionary reminder…

…and ZOMG, how can Planned Parenthood BE SO RELENTLESS! IN PROVIDING TOP-NOTCH CARE???!!!

(OK, I'll stop...)

...next, Chris Hayes interviews Dem Senator Dem Brian Schatz of Hawaii on the Iran nuke deal, which Schatz, a Jew, supports (I hope Bob Casey is listening - if you want to try to persuade him to see things our way, click here - Update 8/16/15: More here)...

…and Thom Hartmann interviews RT's Lauren Windsor about Chucky and Davey Koch’s latest soiree, which – ssshhh! – no one was supposed to know about (attendees included the guy behind Papa John’s…and by the way, your pizza sucks – here)…

…and John Oliver – again – makes an important, serious point with comedy, this time on the subject of sex-ed (here)…

…and I’m nearing the end of my songs for the summer, so I’d better take care of them, including this one (which, I think, qualifies).

Thursday Stuff

All the best in your fight, President Carter (more here)…

...and I thought this was a good point by Larry Wilmore on how much time Fix Noise spent on race issues in that "debate," and I'm sorry that I'm back on that topic again - typical that they followed with the "Straight Outta Compton" ad, of course, which I believe was completely intentional - here...

…and Mark Bittman talks with Saru Jayaraman, a leader in the food labor movement…

…and I think she visited these parts with George Ezra while we were on vacation – doesn’t stop me from putting up this great tune, however.

Wednesday Stuff

I put up a nice video for Bernie Sanders last night, so, to be fair, I give you the following (great stuff, actually, from HRC – more here)…

...and I give you this recent item from Vice News...sorry I'm a bit behind (great stuff also, particularly about the UK wage gap between men and women and the guy in Indonesia who makes transport for the disabled - Vice News does real reporting, people)...

...and we don't have to journey too far back in time for the latest installment of "This Day In Doomsy History," only to 8/13/14 with this always-timely reminder...

...and I give The Purple One credit for standing up for artistic freedom here, but not all of us can be rich enough to self-promote and publish ourselves - just sayin' (might have to crank the volume).

Tuesday Stuff

I give you John Oliver on last Thursday's "debate" here, saying the Trump/Kelly stuff won't mean anything in the end - hope he's right (oh, and here is more, just confirming that Fix Noise runs the Republican Party, as if anyone still had a doubt about that...and in a related story, as they say, I got a kick out of this)...

...and Rev. Al tells us about the absence of any questions on voting rights in that Republican farce from last Thursday – I don't always see eye to eye with Rich Galen, but I think he at least has a brain on this stuff...jeebus, give me a break on “Calgary” Cruz, willya?...

…and you know what? I have to tell you that I’m sick of all of the horseshit about that stupid “debate” on Thursday, which really is nothing but "bread and circuses" anyway. Instead, I’m going to give you a dose of reality from Bernie Sanders (more here – and after watching this, why the hell wouldn’t you support him?)…

...and this month marks the anniversary of the Watts riots in 1965 (here); here’s a tune for the occasion – strikes me that, in some ways at least, not a whole hell of a lot has changed in 50 years (also considering this).

Monday Stuff

As far as I’m concerned, the College Board is truly a collection of gutless weasels for this (more here)…

…and I’m sure this exchange won’t be noted in their phony baloney textbooks anywhere – dag, Poppy Bush and The Sainted Ronnie R sound like a couple of stinkin’ libs here, don’t they (heh)…

…and for anyone who doesn’t think that the NRA owns our beloved commonwealth, check this out (I hope a family member or friend of Jonathan Goldstein is somehow affected by gun violence – I hesitate to say that, but apparently that’s the only thing people like him understand…he can be so glib about Harrisburg overruling municipalities because he knows how utterly bought and paid for many of those clowns in Harrisburg truly are)…

…and this awful story, as far as I’m concerned, brings to mind this tune (sorry to be such a downer, but I don’t make this stuff up).
