Friday Stuff

Looks like it’s another day in America not to politicize gun violence (more here, and the usual bad actors who are partly responsible IMHO are here)…

…and with that in mind, I give you this ad from Pat Davis, running for Congress in New Mexico (profanity is self-defeating I know, but sometimes, there are no other words that are appropriate as far as I’m concerned)…

…and I realized I’m laughing through tears a little with this, but I think this calls for this clip from The Eternal George Carlin on the NRA (maybe a little callous, but this man paid his dues and then some as far as I’m concerned...NSFW)…

…and I know we went over the Palestinian attacks in response to the ridiculously stupid decision to move our Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, but I don’t think this great moment from Eddie Glaude, Jr. should be overlooked in any way; I’m a little more sympathetic to Katy Tur because she can’t lose sight of the fact that she works for The Comcast Network (NSFW also)…

…and I give you another installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” from 5/18/11, in which Ed Schultz tells us the harrowing truth about income inequality in this country, which will no doubt only get worse with the awful tax bill supported by Bri-Fi, among many others in his party (to do something about that, click here), up for re-election this year (parroting what Kyle K. said previously, maybe this is why Ed is a former MSNBC host)…

…and Cenk and TYT talk about the other progressive victories last Tuesday besides that of Scott Wallace, including that of John Fetterman, mayor of Braddock, Pa…

…and Seth Meyers tells us the latest on Generalissimo Trump and North Korea; yeah, it sounds like somebody is practicing “the art of the deal,” but it isn’t our Treasonous, Tiny-Handed Orange Egomaniac…

...and given the Texas carnage earlier today, I went through my list of anti-gun songs and came up with this one.

Thursday Stuff

It looks like a bill to keep Net Neutrality has passed the Senate (and kudos to Sens. Collins, Murkowski and John N. Kennedy in particular); Cenk is right – we need to keep fighting – but yeah, it faces long odds in the House, and I think we pretty much know what the Gropenfuhrer will do if it reaches his desk (hey Bri-Fi…how about a little help here? And what say you too, Scott Wallace, the Dem nominee for the PA-01 seat in the fall?)…

…and yeah, the wheel of karma sure turns slow all right, especially in the case of the disgraced Blake Farenthold – the comeuppance apparently will be delayed for former Repug TX congressman “ducky jams” (more here)…

…and it also appears that that same wheel is also taking its time with Repug Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, who has beaten a big rap for now, but he may yet be impeached – we’ll see (more here)…

…and I know we’re still barely past midweek, but as far as I’m concerned, that doesn’t mean that we still can’t go to “church.”

Wednesday Stuff

This tells us that today marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the World War I-era Sedition Act into law – I’ve defended President Woodrow Wilson on other occasions (here), but not this time…could definitely happen again, people, especially with the bunch we have in charge now…

…and I give retired GA cop Tom McCain credit for fighting the good fight on pot decriminalization…

…and if you want hear something crazier on this subject than having somebody serving a prison sentence over a pot bust, give a listen to this insanity in Illinois (slightly NSFW)…

…and yes, I give you The Putin Network once more, but Lee Camp tells us that Cambridge Analytica is OUTTA HERE…though, of course, they’re apparently just going to do what all bad corporate actors do, and that is to rebrand (very NSFW)…

…and usually I wait until Friday to put up a video from the prior week by Bill Maher, but I thought this was too good to wait any longer (nice job on the Brando riff, though I think Maher is going to take a step back by having Bari Weiss on again – oh well...NSFW also)…

…which leads me to recall this tune in a similar theme.

Tuesday Stuff

Kyle Kulinski gave us what I thought was an interesting in-depth commentary on the U.S. Embassy move to Jerusalem (yep, not dog whistles but a f*cking foghorn indeed, though there are issues with the Palestinians here, specifically with Hamas, that Kyle glosses over a bit IMHO - pretty good summary on this that wraps up at about 3:08 by the way – once again, take a bow, all you Trumpster asshats, Bernie-or-bust clowns and fools who decided not to vote at all, let alone for HRC, who helped bring us this mess two years ago...NSFW)...

...and with the same story in mind, Cenk takes a cold, hard look at the true craziness of the so-called fundamentalist "Christians" (and I’m not a life sciences professional, and I don’t even play one on TV so I’m not qualified to make this diagnosis, but as far as I’m concerned, Jeanine Pirro is certifiably insane)...

…and Joy Reid talks with Evan Osnos of The New Yorker about more Nixonian garbage from Generalissimo Trump, in particular demoting Obama-era staffers to the so-called “turkey farm”…Osnos refers to these displaced folks handling FOIA requests, and I think this is what he’s talking about…

...and kudos to Costa Rica for pledging to ban fossil fuels (yes, they may not make it I realize, but at least they’re going to try)...

…and today is primary election day in PA, and in the newly formed PA-01 district, I’m endorsing Scott Wallace (like my “endorsement” means a hill of beans I realize)…on balance, I like what I hear from Wallace on the issues that matter, and challenger Rachel Reddick started out OK, but I don’t like her last-minute turn towards negativity…Wallace pointed out that she was a registered Republican, which is no crime I know, but she responded with stuff about Wallace having a mansion in Maryland and resident status in South Africa or something, which are stupid charges as far as I’m concerned, and also implying that Wallace maligned her military service, and I saw no evidence of that – Steve Bacher is also running for the nomination…

(Oh, and it looks like all of that sweet, sweet Koch Bros. cash from that scam tax cut bill is being used for crappy YouTube promos for Bri-Fi fighting the supposed scourge of “sanctuary cities,” when in fact conservatives want the Trumpian model of “detention cities” typical for a dictatorship where someone from INS can detain you because they don’t like your looks or the color of your skin…oh, but Bri-Fi is a “moderate” – GMAFB!)

...also, we lost Mr. S. 20 years ago yesterday.

Monday Stuff

Here he comes to save the day – and that would be none other than Billo rushing to defend Sarah Huckabilly Sanders, as Farron Cousins tells us…

…and I’m a week late with this I know, but I give you another installment of “This Day in Doomsy History” from 5/7/14 with former Sen. Al Franken telling us about the importance of Net Neutrality and thus preserving a free and open internet, which Trumpster and FCC head Ajit Pai wants to kill of course (here)…scumbag

…and I’m with Cenk a little on this story when it comes to Kirstjen Nielsen of the DHS trying to prevent immigrant families from being separated at our border, which of course met with the predictable tantrum from Generalissimo Trump…

…and Joy Reid tells us about the effort to keep idiot congressional Republicans from totally screwing up Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump and Russia (and more on that turd Mark Meadows is here, and Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao is no better of course)…

…and Seth Meyers brings us the latest news, including a mention for Mother’s Day…

…and yeah, sorry I’m late with this too – hope it was a good day for all the moms out there.
