Friday Stuff

What follows is our corporate media glossing over the thoroughly indefensible (but totally typical) act of the Trumpsters to not defend the ACA in a court suit against the individual mandate (I mean, the ACA has been upheld by 2 Supreme Court rulings, but screw the rule of law as far as Generalissimo Trump is concerned) – more of a real-world perspective on this is here (And remember how Alan Grayson was once ridiculed over his “die quickly” remark? I would say that looks eerily prescient now)…

…and RIP Anthony Bourdain; I give him credit for exposing not just different types of food but other cultures also, to say nothing of sustainability and smart food choices (and people, if you feel like you need help, please find a way to get it – we all need to do that from time to time)…

...also, Lawrence O'Donnell tells us that the UN is condemning this country for putting kids in cages - as Atrios would say, we do so love our children (with Maria Teresa Kumar - GREAT point about having to pass comprehensive immigration reform - uh, Democrats? You DNC centrist Beltway LOSERS! Are you paying attention? Maybe you could actually BITCH OUT LOUD ABOUT THIS! Rock-a-bye baby...)...

…and as a bit of a follow-up item, Sam Seder and Michael Brooks present a security border patrol officer fronting for the Gropenfuhrer on Fix and Fiends - sure, like everything else, blame Obama for actually being a decent human being...

...also, Farron Cousins tells us about the woman who apparently said that talking to Trump was like talking to a toddler; I think that’s pretty insulting to toddlers, actually (the stuff on the teacher lockdown drill at the end was particularly powerful, by the way)...

…and I realize that there’s a lot of heavy stuff in this post, and here’s another similar item – Prince would have been 60 yesterday.

Wednesday Stuff

I’m taking a break from the usual back-and-forth in the news to observe the 50th anniversary of the death of Robert F. Kennedy – here is a Pathe report on his funeral…

…and here is the report from ABC News, including a portion of Ted Kennedy’s eulogy, repeating the quote from Shaw noted in the clip above (which, I think, DESERVES repeating)…

…and on the PBS Newshour, Judy Woodruff speaks with Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and filmmaker Dawn Porter about Robert Kennedy’s legacy…

…and I know she wrote this song for Dylan, but whenever I hear it, I think of RFK also.

Tuesday Stuff

CNN and Anderson Cooper tell us about the Gropenfuhrer deciding to uninvite your Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles to the White House, with Jim Acosta, David Gergen and Marc Lamont Hill (I thought Gergen was shockingly sensible in this segment)…

…and with the prior clip in mind, I give you Jason Kelce’s very NSFW response from the parade…

…also, Farron Cousins tells us Trumpian lackey Paul Manafort now faces accusations of witness tampering – typical for this bunch of crooks…

…and kudos to Dem U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley for trying to figure out what’s going on with this “resettlement center” for kids in Brownsville, TX (and keeping kids in cages, huh? God almighty, what kind of a nightmare are we living in?)…

…and Kyle K. brings us the story of the murdered Palestinian medical aid worker…more here (NSFW of course)…

…and with the lead story in mind, I give you this tune which I didn’t get to when I did my “green” selections earlier this year (and in a bit of a related item, I'll eventually finish this good book).

Monday Stuff

Kyle K. discusses our treasonous, tiny-handed orange dictator saying he can pardon himself – NSFW (I’m not sure what constitutional crisis we suffered under Obama, but I’m willing to listen to intelligent arguments on that)…

…and Rachel Maddow introduces us to North Korean Gen. Kim Yong-Chol, who, for my money, is one of the scariest people on earth based on this report, which tells us why (not surprising that the Gropenfuhrer tends to gravitate towards tyrants given his behavior…and for what it’s worth, I thought “The Interview” was hilarious)…

…and Chris Hayes reminds us that Generalissimo Trump’s Mar-a-Lago visits cost more than the Mueller probe – just sayin’…

…and I can’t really explain it, but I just felt like hearing this song (maybe based on the news).
