Friday Stuff

Melissa Harris-Perry brings us the story of Teahadist Repug Jeff Duncan in the U.S. House, who wants the Census Bureau to not do its job (not surprising that the political party that doesn’t like science apparently doesn’t like math also – and the jobs numbers actually weren’t too terrible, by the way, as noted here, though there’s plenty of room for improvement)…

…and I’m not sure how many more pitiable human beings there are on this earth aside from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who seems to be working towards his Ph.D. in Sour Grapes (here)...

…and before we draw a close to this week marking the 10th anniversary of Dubya’s “Mission Accomplished” fiasco, it might be a good idea to take a look at the awful reality of what his regime of pirates wrought in Iraq (Gramps McCain should just ingest a hot toddy and go lay down somewhere)…

…and I’ve been pretty lazy about putting up a George Jones video at long last, so here it is.

Thursday Stuff

(I also posted here – kind of ranting a bit I’ll admit.)

I know the whole bit about Assad using chemical weapons in Syria is messed up, but something comparable in that vein are the Beltway warmongers who quite rightly get “the treatment” from Jon Stewart here

…and as I said, I’m not going to stop beating the proverbial drum on this subject (and here is another profile in gun cowardice)…

Update 5/3/13: The obscenity continues...

…and John Fugelsang invokes a higher power to try and rid us of Orange Man as House Speaker (and no, I don’t mean George Soros – that’s a joke, by the way)…

…and I guess this is a borderline religious tune in the spirit of this day…maybe.

Wednesday Stuff

Keith Olbermann reminded us in May 2007 of how Former President Nutball vetoed legislation to start winding down his ruinous war of choice in Iraq – tried to find something appropriate for “Mission Accomplished” Day (nothing like a stroll down memory sewer, as it were…the Party of Dubya should certainly never be trusted with executive branch power again, or really anything else related to the federal government – I mentioned Dumbya over here earlier)…

…and I’m pretty bowled over that our own Pat Toomey, of all people, “went there”; I don’t know what’s gotten into Toomey’s precious bodily fluids, as it were, but I hope he ingests more of it (and MoDo should just ask to pass the sweet and sour shrimp and STFU…Bob Shrum actually makes a great point about the midterm elections at about 7:00)…

…and the “Politics Nation” clip ends with more tales of GOP madness, which I think is a good segue to this guy (you’re damn right the fight is not over, “Senator Squish” - more here)…

…and returning to Number 43, Mem Shannon came out with this little number in January 2009 – I’m kind of in a mood to hear it again.

Tuesday Stuff

Looks like our illustrious governor put his proverbial foot in it again (here)…

…and Ron Paul said here that the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing was worse than the actual bombing – looks like the door hasn’t been slammed shut hard enough to keep the “crazy uncle in the attic” from spouting more utter nonsense (and I take it with a grain of salt from Bill Maher, who, unlike Paul, has never held, and likely never will hold, elective office)…

…and good for John Fugelsang for going after Chris Broussard of ESPN; I haven’t really said much about Jason Collins coming out because I really didn’t have anything particularly noteworthy to add, other than I wish him all the best (and unlike Tim Tebow, Jason Collins actually has talent)…

…and happy 80th birthday to Willie Nelson – Corbett, Broussard and Paul all act like they’re high here, but Willie knows the real deal :-).

Monday Stuff

Chris Hayes reminds us about the real victims of the sequester…

…and awww, looks like Just Plain Folks Sarah Palin Dontcha Know haz a sad because the parade is passing her by (an epic takedown by Martin Bashir)…

…and with all the Dubya nostalgia going on (please), I would say that the these remarks by former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor reek more than just a little bit; if you have second thoughts, Madame Former Justice, do us all a favor and keep them to yourself, and pray that God is merciful…

…and underrated guitar legend Mick Ronson (here with Bowie during the “Ziggy Stardust” period) left us 20 years ago today.

Sunday Stuff

I think John Fugelsang gives us the definitive Dubya “tribute” here…

...and I went back and forth between this and a George Jones video – nothing against Jones, but I think I’ve given enough space to entertainers who have passed on over the last week.
