Friday Stuff

To say that this clip contains some rather prophetic commentary from former U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter is an understatement – I’d honestly forgotten that Souter voted against the majority in Bush v. Gore also, which makes him even more worthy of my respect, for what it's worth...

…and that’s probably an appropriate lead-in for another commentary from K.O. about The Big Orange Cheetoh…

…and I give you another installment of “This Day in Doomsy History” from 10/22/10, and whaddaya know? It’s a campaign ad against “No Corporate Tax” Pat Toomey (R-Elevator…yeah, his record is pretty close to Former “Senator Man-On-Dog” all right – to help Katie McGinty, click here)…

Update 10/25/16: I hope sitting on that fence gives Toomey a nice, big, fat welt right on his butt (here).

...and kudos to Steve Santarsiero for this (to help, click here – and as far as Steve’s opponent “Bri-Fi” is concerned, what does this video tell you?)...

Update 10/24/16: AWESOME!!

…also, John Oliver gave what I thought was a great commentary on third-party candidates earlier this week; I think Jill Stein is well meaning but way out of her depth, and Gary Johnson is just an idiot (but hey, how about that “Joe Exotic”? Think he’s a “game-changer”?? – snark)…

…and this is easily the funniest development of the week – God, that would be hilarious is somehow “Goober” Gohmert ended up in charge of the U.S. House Repug “leadership” (volume fades in and out a bit, especially where he says “Thank God for Andrew Breitbart” – some of this is funny but some of it is also just incredible idiotic…and let’s not forget this gem also - more here)…

...and Number 44 gives us a reminder as to how "Fergus Laing" rose to prominence, with Chris Hayes and Jon Lovett (this may put me off Risotto for awhile, by the way - and "there's no sin like losing," indeed...clip is a little behind the news cycle I'll admit, but not by a lot)...

…and happy belated birthday to Tom Petty (“Spike,” a tune for all of those Trump supporters out there).

Update: As I type this, the Repug nominee for president is within shouting distance of Le Manse Doomsy (if you have a really good pair of lungs - here).

As if he has a shot of winning PA…

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Update 11/28/16: OK, OK, I know what happened - eating crow...let's see what we learn from the recount.

Thursday Stuff

Yeah, the debate was apparently just as pitiable of an exercise as was forecasted – kudos to HRC though for, as TYT says, doing her homework and actually showing up prepared; once more, as in 2012, a Repug presidential nominee who gestated, if you will, in the conservative “thought bubble” saw it go POP when it met reality in the general election…

…and sorry, but I respectfully disagree with K.O. here – “Donald Drumpf” should be forced to see this through and get the electoral beating he thoroughly deserves…

…and if “Fergus Laing” is really interested in an example of grace in defeat (yeah, I can dream, can’t I?), here is the most memorable example I can think of, and that is the concession speech of one-time Dem presidential nominee Sen. Hubert Humphrey in 1968 – the lines that everyone remembers, and which are the most noteworthy as far as I’m concerned, are between about 3:05 and 3:20 (and remember the horrors that preceded this in that dreaded year)...

...and Rachel Maddow reminds us here on the “New Black Panther Party” stuff in Philly (actually scary to see how utterly stupid some of those people in Alaska are, to say nothing of everywhere else in this country…and of course, the idiot behind all of this faux outrage was hired by Trump to supposedly ensure the integrity of the vote on 11/8 – uh huh, when pigs fly…and try to tell me again how mainstream “Maniac Megyn” Kelly supposedly is)…

Update 10/21/16: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

…and Former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich weighs in on “No Corporate Tax” Pat Toomey (R-Elevator); to help Toomey’s opponent Katie McGinty, click here...more here)…

...and congrats go out to the one and only Bob Perkins of WRTI-FM in these parts (the jazz part of the station), for this - here is a tune for this great occasion (the title is certainly apropos anyway..."Lady Day" with Ben Webster -- tenor saxophone, Lester Young -- tenor saxophone, Vic Dickenson -- trombone, Gerry Mulligan -- baritone saxophone, Coleman Hawkins -- tenor saxophone, Roy Eldridge -- trumpet, Doc Cheatham -- trumpet, Danny Barker -- guitar, Milt Hinton -- double bass, Mal Waldron -- piano and Osie Johnson - drums).

Wednesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow gives us a clip of The Sainted Ronnie R from back in the day and tells us why it might be a good idea for Mike Pence to NOT cite Reagan’s ’64 speech on behalf of Barry Goldwater as some kind of equivalency for “Donald Drumpf” (yeah, all those who thought "The Gipper" was always so gosh-darned lovable should check him out in the clip included in the video, with hair slicked down, jaw clenched and at full snarl)…

...and I thought Chris Hayes had a good discussion here on what is really going on with voter ID laws, including Ari Berman of The Nation…

...echoed also somewhat by K.O. in another one of his great commentaries...

…and I didn’t see all of Michelle Obama’s recent speech, which was brilliant apparently, including this clip…

…and it looks like “Top-Step Shill” is at it again, this time going after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (can’t wait to see her carve him up)…and with all due respect to Jimmy Dore, there have been “Trumpians” all along (nice segment with Dore, Richard Eskow and Alonzo Bodden)…

…and happy birthday to Karl Wallinger of World Party and the Waterboys – best wishes for continued good health.

Tuesday Stuff

Yeah, I would say that they’ve more than earner the right to smack down “Donald Drumpf”…

…and gosh, it looks like “Senator Honor and Virtue” gave the game away again (here) – I think that calls for the following reminder (and I don't believe this for a minute, by the way)…

…and Keith Olbermann reminds us (and I’m sure we’ll need multiple reminders, on top of those we've received already that is) just how joined at the hip Putin and The Big Orange Cheetoh truly are…

…oh, and by the way, in the PA-08 race, Brian “Run For The Door” Fitzpatrick was recently the recipient of a $2.3 million donation by a right-wing Super PAC (backgrounder is here – more here).

Yes, you read that right - $2.3 million.

For a U.S. House congressional campaign.

Are they trying to buy the seat? Obviously. Will they?

Well, to try and prevent that, click here

…and in case anyone was wondering how this could happen, here is a refresher offered by K.O. at the time (the ruling was handed down by justices nominated and confirmed under Republican presidents, let's not forget)…

…and I’m sorry, but I’m inclined to side with Sir Paul in this little dustup; sounds like “weak sauce” to me when it comes to slights, maybe even meant as a joke…here’s a great Phil Collins/Genesis tune for the occasion.

Monday Stuff

After watching this, I hope you don’t still think somehow that I’m kidding with the graphic above…

…and this might be the most utterly tone-deaf answer I’ve ever heard to a question from a child, completely on purpose of course…

…and I’ll be honest; I didn’t think much of CNN’s Brian Stelter for awhile, but I think he’s come a long way with his commentaries, and this is his best yet…

…and let me guess – these numbskulls in VA feel they can do this in support of “The Donald,” but I’ll bet they were one of the “great unwashed” caterwauling about the OMG SCARY NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY LOOKING OMG SCARY IN FRONT OF AN OMIGOD PHILADELPHIA VOTING LOCATION OMG SO SCARY SO SCARY OMG!!!! - amirite??...

…oh, and by the way, Mr. Red Sweater Hero also has a problem on Reddit, apparently (here)…

…and I know I’ve probably been overdoing it with the milestones lately, but here’s one more; happy 75th birthday to James Seals (the one with the hat) of the ‘70s pop duo Seals and Crofts; I always thought this song was a bit of escapism, and I don’t know about you, but I feel like I need a bit of that now with all of the insanity going on in our politics that we REALLY NEED to fix one of these days, hopefully sooner than later.
