Being the utterly filthy and still-unkempt liberal blogger that I am (with blogging way past its usefulness in most cases I’ll admit), let it be known that I somehow forgot that today is the 75th anniversary of VE Day, so with that in mind, I give you this clip of U.S. troops marching through London upon their arrival in the UK in 1942…
…and here is a BBC clip of the 75th anniversary celebration, with Winston Churchill’s declaration of victory…
…along with a clip of US troops returning home…
…and when I think of that era of my parents, it’s impossible for me not to think of this song.
