Chris Hayes lets us know that the alleged briefing to Cheetoh Hitler on his horrible, idiotic war of choice in Iran is a highlight reel of “stuff blowing up,” which actually shouldn’t be surprising for a guy who blows off the PDBs as noted here, and reading those briefs and crafting policy around them is one of the most important presidential tasks...and I’ll admit that it’s hard for me to give Iran credit for anything even though this war shouldn’t be taking place, but man, that tweet about Edward Bernays and Walter Lippmann really is a smackdown, I have to admit...I’d heard about the Ecuador strike to take down that “life threatening” cattle and dairy farm, but the sea of incompetence from our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes is so deep and impenetrable at times that I have to admit that it washed over me, you might say...and sure, let’s target an Iraqi military base and kill more people for sh*ts and giggles I suppose...
...and Belle informs us that 13 U.S. military bases in the Middle East are “uninhabitable,” and yeah, the corporate media phrasing about troops having to “work remotely” without their tactical equipment is particularly ridiculous – we’re not talking about a call center for Blue Cross Blue Shield, we’re talking about THE FREAKING AMERICAN MILITARY!!...and yeah, it looks like it will cost more billions to rebuild these facilities that, as a federal government, we refuse to spend on health care, community hospitals in rural areas, job creation, infrastructure, fighting the climate crisis, early childhood and pre-K funding, etc...good point that, aside from the human cost, the biggest damage as a result of this Iranian escapade will be to the reputation of the U.S. (and, as with everything else under the Gropenfuhrer, this war strengthens Putin hand)...
...and Brittany Page brings us the sorry spectacle of “lefties” apparently falling into the right-wing trap created by Nick Fuentes, Marjorie Train Wreck Greene and The Swanson TV Dinner Heir...I definitely give Page credit for calling out ANYONE aligning with the wingnut crazies I mentioned; I’ve been watching this idiotic rope-a-dope with these cretins for longer than I care to remember, and I would actually broaden the group Page mentions to include “Never Trumpers” such as Steve Schmidt, who was one of the VERY FIRST people to dump all over Joe Biden for that admittedly bad debate, and look where that got us...Neera Tanden isn’t any better; I think somebody needs to get out of her Beltway bubble with the rest of her “smart set” Dem political operatives who are only experts at FREAKING LOSING ELECTIONS!!!...I can’t think of a word for how utterly gutless it is for Democratic “thought leaders” to sit silently by while “Bibi” continues to glass over Gaza and slaughter Palestinians with impunity while guttural lowlifes like Fuentes manage to co-opt the issue of Israel’s genocide for his own twisted benefit...and as I’ve pointed out in the past, I keep TYT on a VERY short leash, you might say, because as soon as they engage in good behavior that I’m happy to promote, they turn around and pull nonsense like sitting down with “Tuckums,” and I’m truly shocked to see Mehdi Hasan get called out also, and Ryan Grim as well, but I definitely think Page is spot-on (NSFW/H)...
...and David Shuster of Rebel HQ tells us that it looks like MyPillow’s Mike Lindell was served court docs during some CPAC interview with Lindell bitching about immigrants and alleged electoral fraud in 2020 because he has absolutely nothing else to say or contribute, though it’s possible that the doc serving moment was a stunt (But wouldn’t it be hilarious if it was legit? Especially because, as we learn in the clip, he’s in hock legally for millions from a suit by FedEx and someone Lindell defamed at Dominion?)...and when Trumpists like Todd Blanche mention “election integrity,” that’s wingnut code for “letting only people we like vote,” in case that wasn’t obvious already (and OF COURSE it’s illegal to interfere with in-person or mail-in voting)...I wish I could hop a flight right now to that Denver place with the crosswalk playing the anti-Trump message – outstanding!...and God almighty, ANOTHER made up award for Cantaloupe Capone??!! (not quite NSFW/H, but still a little rude, just to warn you)...
...and I realize this number from “The Divine Miss M” (which is an update to a famous Woody Guthrie tune) is too late for No Kings, but it’s definitely not too late for the November midterms...
