Chris Hayes tells us about Our Ochre Abomination and his party coming after NPR and the CPB/PBS again, just like they have as long as these entities have existed (a testimony to the integrity of President Ford that his was the only Repug administration that didn’t try to do this...great point by Hayes about Repug political cowardice on Capitol Hill that’s letting Combover Caligula to, in essence, steal the “power of the purse” from the legislative branch, while those contemptible assclowns in the House and the Senate act like “hey, blame Trump, not us for gutting all of this stuff”)...
...and Brian Tyler Cohen discusses Yambo (who doesn’t know much about the oath he took to uphold his office based on this) wanting a military parade for his birthday, which, coincidentally, is the same day as Flag Day, so I guess that’s #47’s excuse to say he’s NOT going full authoritarian here (which he is of course)...”(Trump) wants to rule like a king, not govern like a president” indeed...
...oh, and I realize that only filthy, unkempt liberal blogger types like yours truly are allowed to point out that Bronzer Beelzebub is a stone cold racist (that’s too impolite for our fourth estate cousins, I realize), but to emphasize that, I bring you this clip of Jesse Dollemore telling us about #47 ending desegregation, trying to overturn one order at a time, apparently, from inside his “(In)Justice” Department, with a focus on the South of course, mainly in Louisiana for now...I realize the Gropenfuhrer doesn’t care about history especially that affecting non-whites, but the SCOTUS desegregation orders came because school districts (mainly, but not only, in the South) dragged their feet so much when it came to trying to comply with the High Court guidelines from the Brown v. Board rulings (slightly NSFW/H)...
...and Thom Hartmann says that a vote in the U.S. Senate to end the self-declared “emergency” by Our Treasonous Orange Pustule could come tomorrow (#47 used his “emergency” as an excuse to enact those utterly ruinous tariffs of his)...there could be at least 4 possible Repug defections (both from Kentucky, along with Lisa Murkowski in Alaska and “Disappointed” Collins in Maine, with all 3 states getting clobbered by Canada...in Kentucky the bourbon distillers are taking it on the chin, and I think tourism is the story for the other two)...I mean, we are talking about Republicans after all, so we shouldn’t get our hopes up too high...
...oh, and let it be known also that the “party of Lincoln” is refusing to stand up against the head of their party deporting U.S. citizens; apparently, Pramila Jayapal, to her credit, introduced this measure in the House and it was supported only by Dems – Farron Cousins tells us about it (more here)...
...and here’s a newer tune to help ease us into the week...hopefully there won’t be too much insanity, but I guess we have to expect that there probably will be for awhile yet (heckuva job, all you numbskulls who made sure we were stuck with this orange pestilence last year).
