Saturday Stuff

And yet, somehow, our sick, demented, attention-span-deficit toddler child of a “president” actually made things worse today for Puerto Rico (here and here)…

…and I thought this was some particularly good commentary by Farron Cousins about regretful Trump voters, and I’m not surprised that the catalyst for this commentary is Vice News, which, as far as I’m concerned, has the most courageous reporters on earth still practicing the actual craft – and it is that – of journalism; how in God’s name someone could vote for Obama and then turn around and vote for Trump is something I’ll never understand, but this did happen last year…I like the fact that Cousins emphasizes that trying to talk down to people will only make the problem worse…yes, I know I get snarky here at this site, but it’s because I’m trying to communicate a message in my admittedly imperfect way…I have never claimed to be the smartest person in the room and I wouldn’t do that because I’m not – I just believe that I have valuable information to share to help people make up their own minds, and make of that what you will – that has always been my goal here, and that remains so…

Update 10/7/17: That being said, I think we need to keep this in mind also.

…and I have to admit that this “Resistance” commentary about the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL is a little personal for me, and of course I agree with K.O. – only an idiot would argue that Sidney Crosby isn’t the best hockey player on earth, having led his team to back-to-back Stanley Cup wins as Olbermann notes as well as a good deal of “hardware” for himself, but as somewhat of a lapsed Flyers fan, I should tell you that Crosby, along with his equally odious (but incredibly talented also) teammate Evgeni Malkin, engage in their own goonish, crybaby antics on the ice (to say nothing of the Pens as an organization, which staged a brawl over a few games with the hardly-innocent-themselves Winnipeg Jets that led to suspensions and injuries to each other’s players, with Pittsburgh GM Jim Rutherford complaining about those very antics while he recalled minor league goon Tom Sestito to deliberately injure a Jet player in response)…what on earth does any of this have to do with giving tacit endorsement to the behavior of the Gropenfuhrer? Maybe not a lot I’ll admit, but it fits into a pattern of organizational tone-deafness as far as I’m concerned…

…and in other political news this week, it looks like Repug Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee won’t seek re-election, and guess who may decide to jump into the fray and run in response, as noted here? Why, none other than Marsha Blackburn (and by the way, in the following clip, Blackburn won’t tell you, of course, that “cutting discretionary spending” means kicking the “poors,” and when she praises the states for supposedly doing a good job, what she’s really talking about is this…)

…and kudos to former Dubya ethics lawyer (yes, that actually was a job for real with that bunch) Richard Painter for standing in opposition to President Tiny-Handed Treasonous Egomaniac here…

…and related somewhat to Painter and his justifiable words, I give you this as a “don’t-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out” gesture to departing HHS Secretary Tom Price.

Friday Stuff

To paraphrase Farron Cousins of “Ring of Fire” here – it’s the income inequality, stupid! And let’s not forget this too...

…and Rachel Maddow has something to say about the Gropenfuhrer’s new tax plan – naaah, it’s not a shameless giveaway for the “pay no price, bear no burden” bunch…not much it isn’t; contrasted in the same report with the utterly scandalous mishandling of aid to Puerto Rico, which desperately needs all the help it can get (more here...if you can assist somehow, please click here)…

…and in the latest chapter of the “them that’s got shall get” file, I give you Equifax CEO Richard Smith, who will receive a nice payday even though he failed to secure the data of about half of the U.S. population from hackers – oy vay (here)…

…and Kyle K. tells us that DEA admin Chuck Rosenberg has quit in response to the Big Orange Cheetoh – NSFW; to his great credit, Kyle has continually beat the drum about this country claiming it has the right to take out the families of terrorists, which we most definitely do not…I’m not sure how much of this I agree with after about 4:13 – I get Kyle’s “libertarian” argument to leave everything alone, but I don’t totally agree with getting rid of the DEA…serious reforms for real, sure, however…good argument by Kyle also about trying to keep everything from going underground…still thinking about this commentary…

…and I’m sure this is going viral now, as it should be, and that is Lt. Gen Jay Silveria of USAFA speaking out against racism (may we as citizens be worthy of the honorable tradition and sacrifice of our military men and women – here)…

…and I’m going out of order once more with K.O.’s great commentaries about Generalissimo Trump, but I think it’s appropriate for the moment (and speaking of disgraced former advisor Paul Manafort, I thought this was particularly repellent)…

…and with the passing of Hugh Hefner this week, I wanted to take a moment and bring you this clip from “Playboy After Dark,” a late-night variety and entertainment show from back in the Dippity-Do era…as I watched a few clips over the last day or so, I was struck when I recalled all of the big-name music acts that appeared on the program, as well as entertainers and other celebrities of the time; this features an early version of Fleetwood Mac in more of a bluesy than pop phase, with former guitarist Peter Green (also, kind of klutzy comedy with Arte Johnson, and was that Don Adams? And you'll have to crank the volume a bit)…

…and happy birthday tomorrow to Trey Anastasio of Phish.

Thursday Stuff

I would say that Tom Steyer knows a thing or two about how to successfully grow a business…

…and K.O. opines here on Trump allowing Puerto Rico to die (and screw the bleeping Jones Act – I know the Gropenfuhrer has said that he’ll go to the island, which is literally better than nothing)…

Update: Took him long enough (here)...

…and it’s also thoroughly embarrassing that Alabama Republicans actually voted for that clown Roy Moore to victory in their U.S. Senate primary, but that’s where we are now all right – OK Dems, let’s actually remember the party we’re supposed to be all about, OK?...

…and RIP Hef – I don’t indulge in the kiss-and-tell gossip stuff, as it were, and I’m sure there was another side, but I think he ended up pretty well for a guy who wanted to sleep in late most days and go to work in his pajamas…

Update: I thought this was interesting about the departed Playboy founder also - kudos.

…and speaking of gender issues (were we?), it looks like Jared Kushner is registered to vote in New York as a woman (the jokes truly write themselves at times, people...now which party are the ones screaming about "voter fraud" again?)…

…and I think, if Hef wanted to leave us with a particular message, I think it would be expressed in the title of this song.

Tuesday Stuff

I’m not sure if I’m totally onboard with K.O. here on not standing for the anthem, but I DEFINITELY support what he tells us here otherwise; if someone decides to protest the anthem, that right should be respected without a doubt (and I also DEFINITELY respect the courage of Oakland A’s catcher Bruce Maxwell, among others)…

…and speaking of courage, two days ago marked the 60th anniversary of President Eisenhower’s use of the 101st Airborne on behalf of the “Little Rock 9” allowing them to enter high school (imagine the caterwauling if a president, especially a Democrat, tried that today – Fix Noise would be screaming for impeachment)…

…and though I know it’s hard to keep up with all of the outrages of Generalissimo Trump, I would say that allowing Puerto Rico to die is particularly horrible (to help, click here)…

…and today is National Voter Registration Day; the video is from two years ago, but it definitely still applies, now more than ever as far as I’m concerned…

…and lost in all of the political flotsam over the thoroughly justifiable demise of Graham-Cassidy is the truly courageous vote of Sen. John McCain; if he is nearing the end, then he definitely is going out like a hero (McCain’s struggle will end one way or the other eventually and his good name will stand up for all time – on balance I’ll admit given some past misdeeds, but they pale in comparison now – but the stupidity of Louie Gohmert is eternal)…

…and Turner Classic Movies is showing the D.A. Pennebaker film of the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival at the moment, which reminds me that I utterly blew it by failing to acknowledge the 50th anniversary last June – please allow me to make up somewhat for that oversight with this memorable performance.

Monday Stuff

When you've lost Terry Bradshaw and Rex Ryan on the whole “take a knee” NFL thing, then yeah, I would say you've lost the moral high ground (and let’s not forget, as some particularly astute folk have noted, it isn’t about the flag or the anthem)…

…actually, it has a lot more to do with what Hasan Piker notes in this very NSFW clip…

…and Cassidy-Graham is still very much alive, people, unfortunately (here – call 202-224-3121 to demand that our Republican congressional frauds VOTE NO!)…

…and Puerto Rico is still a total mess from Maria, as Cenk, Ana and Ben tell us – to help, click here (more here from our Tiny-Handed, Clueless, Treasonous Egomaniac-In-Chief)…

…and whaddaya know – it turns out Jared K. used a private Email server too (and it runs in the family of course)…

...and RIP Charles Bradley.

Saturday Stuff

I would call this an effective ad (keep calling 202-224-3121…we’re not there yet, people.)…

…and Kyle K. is absolutely right when he sez that, while last year’s Dem presidential nominee is promoting her book (which she’s allowed to do, I realize), Bernie is doing this…

…and oh yeah, I left a message with this thoroughly compromised charlatan about Graham-Cassidy, and of course you know how he intends to vote (the time to do something about Toomey came and went last year, sadly, and now we’re stuck with him until 2022 at a minimum – heckuva job)…

…and sticking with health care, I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 9/24/13 (yeah, why the hell would the Kochs be in favor of a trans-vaginal probe anyway...utterly sick, twisted bastards - here)…

…and I know I’m a little behind on my Seth Meyers videos, but I still thought this was a good one (hard to keep up with the outrages, I know)…

…and I guess this selection is inspired a bit by the first video in this post.

Friday Stuff

Wow, it looks like President Tiny-Handed, Impulse-Control-Issue Treasonous Warmonger is afraid of a lady with Stage 4 cancer – what a “tough guy”…

…and former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich reminds us just how awful Cassidy/Graham is also, and more importantly, what to do about it…

…and Cenk and Ana discuss that puke Bill Cassidy, and Kilmeade too of course, in light of recent commendable comments by Jimmy Kimmel (and boy, is Cenk right about the Dems and the media not doing their jobs on explaining how horrible Cassidy/Graham is - I think from about 9:01 to 10:05 of this are particularly noteworthy about Dems not fighting, sadly - there have been signs of that getting better under the Gropenfuhrer, but it needs to change ONCE AND FOR ALL - and by the way, I would say once more that karma is a bitch based on this)...

…and Chris Hayes tells us how HHS Secretary Tom Price is pissing away our precious tax dollars on private jets, like the rest of this outlaw regime (and Hayes is absolutely right in his comments about commuting between DC and Philly)…

…and Rachel Maddow reminds us that, in certain cases, campaign funds are to be used for campaign funds only, as in the case of former Idaho Repug Sen. Larry “Wide Stance” Craig, and also in the case of Generalissimo Trump and his family (although, after talking with Craig Holman of Public Citizen in this thought-provoking discussion IMHO, it looks like we have a lot of places where we need to tighten things up on how campaign donations are spent; as Bill Maher said, you can never assume anything with the Trumpsters – have to get it in writing)…

…and Kyle tells us that Sen. Bernie Sanders’s claim about tuition-free college weren’t as “pie in the sky” as his detractors claimed (and yeah, another profile in cowardice by the Democratic Party on this issue – NSFW)…

…and TMR & Sam Seder tell us about the conservative writer who said the Trump was elected because liberal women refused to have sex with conservative men (and Charles Murray, to me, is the very embodiment of an elitist right-wing scumbag)…

…and tomorrow marks what would have been the 91st birthday of legendary jazz saxophonist (and one-time Philly resident) John Coltrane; this year also marked the 50th anniversary of his passing on July 17th.

Thursday, September 21, 2017

Thursday Stuff

Yeah, I would say that Dem Sen. Kamala Harris of CA understands what’s going on here (and spare me the noise that “oooh, she’s a ‘Corporate Dem’! – I agree with what Kyle said yesterday, but still, can we please put the purity tests on hold for now?)…

…and yeah, perpetually playing the victim sure is a tactic of right-wing demagogues all right, as K.O. notes (and yep, nothing is EVER the fault of Generalissimo Trump, is it? - here)…

…and I remember when we used to do stuff like this in our own country (and in a somewhat related story, I give you this)…

…and Seth Meyers gives us a wrap-up of recent news, including that Disney-esque pink dress (and I don’t mean that in a good way) that Melania Trump wore recently (wonder if she was cleared for takeoff? And I respect John Kerry also, but I’m afraid the proverbial ship has sailed for him also)…

…and heh, “All Lives Splatter,” huh? What a “laff riot” – NOT (updates are here and here)…

…and I haven’t featured a song from 1967 for a little while now, so I now give you the following (Bowie once sang a great cover of this tune - once saw "Waterloo Sunset" or thereabouts almost 14 months ago).

Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Wednesday Stuff

It seems that there are many voices rising up in response to the Graham/Cassidy atrocity that the U.S. Senate Repugs are trying to foist on us in one last effort to destroy the dreaded “Obamacare” once and for all (to resist, click here and here – more here and here).

Here’s what’s really going on here, people: the Repugs and their Koch/Club for Growth/Americans for Prosperity, etc. puppet masters want to destroy Medicaid by “block granting” it to the states. With that done, the strategy is for private insurers to gobble up the remaining subscribers (assuming they could pay the premiums, which they probably won’t be able to given that 32 million people are projected to lose insurance according to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services).

And we should no longer be fooled, assuming we have all wised up by now; this latest horror from this bunch should prove that such a thing as a “moderate” Republican is as extinct as the brontosaurus (please prove me wrong, Sens. Collins, Murkowski and Capito – not holding my breath on “Regular Order” McCain either).

They are trying to kill us to make a profit, people. The stakes are literally life and death; I don’t know how else to lay this out (and Dem U.S. Senator Brian Schatz does so commendably here)…

…and the U of P study cited by Farron Cousins here yields some truly depressing results about our civic ignorance as a country (not saying that people such as your humble narrator is smarter than a Trump voter, though at the risk of being snarky that may be true, and I’m definitely not trying to say I’m a better person since I don’t have the right to try and make a claim like that, nor does anyone else…I’m just agreeing with Cousins that, at some point, we need to learn how our government works and who the government REALLY IS, and that would be US! If we don’t, we’re bound to lose it all)…

…and yeah, I heard what Fran Leibowitz said on “Real Time” recently, and after that, I think she should just go away (I give Salman Rushdie a bit more credit) – hey Dems, Bernie had the momentum last year! If those supposed DNC geniuses had known what was going on, they could have tried to “out-Bernie Bernie” (assuming that could be done) and, as Kyle has said before, “go to the left”…but of course, HRC decided instead to have a party onstage with LeBron James while she was losing the state of Ohio (and yes, there are times when I get sick of the “Corporate Dem” caterwauling, but bashing Bernie feeds that narrative I’ll admit…incredibly NSFW; this is the angriest I’ve ever seen Kyle, and I think he definitely has a good reason for that – makes a whole bunch of good, sobering points)…

…and turning to the Gropenfuhrer, Chris Hayes reminds us that, of all of the inauguration $$ received, our ruling cabal of idiots and crooks committing high treason basically haven’t given a dime of it to charity as they said they would (big surprise, I know)…

…and hey, all you MAGA saps – Rachel Maddow tells us that all the money you forked over for merch is going right to Generalissimo Trump’s lawyers (“Lordy, there might be tapes” indeed)…

…and nothing against Peter Gabriel & co., but why do I have a feeling that this song is on the Big Orange Maniac's playlist?

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

Tuesday Stuff

Want to know why the Repugs keep coming back OVER AND OVER AND OVER to try and kill the Affordable Care Law, which has been upheld by not one but two Supreme Court rulings, to say nothing of loud voiciferous protests ALL OVER THE COUNTRY telling these Congressional bottom feeders to LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE (more here)?

Because of human stains like this Anthem Blue Cross guy who Elizabeth Warren is questioning here, who represents the true “base” of the party; yeah, that was his canned answer and Warren didn’t really speak to it, probably because she rightly IMHO realized it was utter nonsense.

(Oh, and don’t listen to Warren according to that idiot Jimmy Dore, because Warren is a “corporate Dem” who has fought more battles in the public area for us that Dore ever will in his entire life.)...

…and K.O., for my money, connects a hell of a lot of dots here in terms of just what happened in last year’s presidential election; what I’d like to know is Mark Zuckerberg’s reaction to all of this given that the Facebook genius got utterly played here by Russia and the Repugs…

…and for the love of God, somebody get this lunatic out of the White House somehow before he blows up the whole goddamn world already (and I don’t think the Gropenfuhrer has the foggiest idea of what is in the Iran nuclear deal, by the way – more here)…

…and for a bit of much-needed comic relief, Cenk tells us that the wingnuts are now mad at “The Man of Steel” (way too damn funny)…

...and I'm a little behind on this latest clip from Sam Bee, but here it is anyway (NSFW I think)...

…and happy 70th birthday to Lol CrΓ¨me of 10 C.C. (yep, I agree with You Tube commenter Sam R; this indeed should be the theme for Our Tiny-Handed, Warmongering, Impulse-Control-Issue Chief Executive).

Monday, September 18, 2017

Monday Stuff

(Yeah, "Photoshop"-ed I know, but it still works for me.)

While Generalissimo Trump was engaged in this typically childish crap yesterday, the person who won the popular vote in last year’s presidential election by about 3 million was doing this (related to this)…

…and gosh, could it be that the “Gropenfuhrer” is finally getting the memo? Don’t hold your breath...

…and Kyle K. tells us that Congressional Repugs are trying to destroy “Obama-care” AGAIN (here) – looks like we have to fight these idiots on this YET AGAIN (no wonder this bill is called “Screw Blue”…NSFW - more here)…

…and it’s hard for me to tell here which ones are truly the clowns (nah – actually, it really isn’t…and pardon me while I wipe my butt with the “flag of St. Andrew”...more here)…

…and RIP Harry Dean Stanton (Frank Vincent also – BTW, the Emmys are even more ridiculous IMHO for forgetting to note the passing of these two as well as Dick Gregory…clip is from “Repo Man”: NSFW)…

…and I know yesterday was a day for worship, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t go to “church” (the title of this song is my mantra every single day).

Friday, September 15, 2017

Friday Stuff

I think that the red-shirted idiot in the following video should be tested to see if he can dent the IQ meter...

…and once more, we support our brave Brit friends during a time of crisis (and the utterly non-surprising response from our Tiny-Handed Impulse-Control-Issue-Child-In-Chief is here…more here and here)…

…and K.O. holds the “news” organizations with initials for names to account for all of their mindless garbage about the Gropenfuhrer (as well as the "fourth estate")…

…and I heer that the presidunt haz a probluum wit typos on hees oofishul communicashuns – yeah, goes to the whole “woefully unprepared to do the job” thing as far as I’m concerned…

…and potty mouth Kyle K. tells us that the DOL under Fergus Laing intends to honor The Sainted Ronnie R; hard to think of a worse selection as far as I’m concerned (“you’re just sleazy liars, and that’s clear”…NSFW)...

…and speaking of sleazy liars, here is my question: what will it take for longtime Repug scumbag Roger Stone to be arrested and imprisoned at long last?...

…and with the Jemele Hill story in mind as well as this one, I think that makes the following segment of “This Day In Doomsy History” from 9/15/14 more timely than ever…

…and it’s Friday night (and a payday also – woo hoo!) – anybody in the mood for a swim?

Thursday, September 14, 2017

Thursday Stuff

As far as I’m concerned, ESPN’s Jemele Hill should get a raise, though I know that won't happen of course; here’s how I look at it – if local sports radio idiot Al Morganti can make snotty remarks about Democrats and liberals and not face any reprisal whatsoever, then Hill can should be able to speak her mind with impunity also…

…and of course, when all else fails, the Repugs can just kick those lazy “poors” again, as Farron Cousins notes…

…and while we’re on the subject of corporations getting off scott free, I think that’s a logical transition to this clip of “No Corporate Tax” Pat Toomey protesting a questioner at a town hall event recently; I don’t think Radecki asked his question the right way (should have started by stating that it was hypothetical instead of sounding like a threat), but I don’t think that justifies the ridiculous over-response either (NSFW)…

…and I think this is the most accurate summation of the web of deceit created by this nightmare of a presidency on Russia, as K.O. spells out…

…and it looks like “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli is heading to prison a little early for a threat against Hillary Clinton; couldn’t happen to a more deserving scumbag (here)…

…and I know summer is over (I don’t know about officially or not), but it’s partly sunny and about 80 degrees in these parts, so I’m going to sneak in one more seasonal tune (James gets a little rude here and sneaks in an “F” blast, but it still rocks).

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Wednesday Stuff

Farron Cousins tells us that Trump EPA head Scott Pruitt thinks it’s insensitive, or something, to talk about climate change with all of the disaster relief efforts going on – yeah, typical given this

…and Rachel Maddow tells us about the Russians using Facebook (and of course Breitbart) to spread anti-immigrant propaganda (nice)…

…and K.O. tells us that he thinks the end of the Gropenfuhrer’s utterly failed reign is in sight – how long it will take to get there is anybody’s guess, though…

…and I think this tells you what a foul, putrid, wretched life form Ed Secretary Betsy DeVos truly is (made me recall this also)…

…and I thought this was a nice clip on how pop singer Olivia Newton-John is focusing on weed in a positive way for others in the midst of her own cancer battle – all the best…

…and if this isn’t an excuse to put up one of her songs, I don’t know what is – from a “guilty pleasure” of an ‘80s movie that was pretty much brainless fluff, but entertaining (I thought) anyway (with great music from her and ELO, including this tune).

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Tuesday Stuff

As far as I’m concerned, Pope Francis definitely gets it on climate change and DACA; to assist Irma’s victims, please click here – and that quote from Generalissimo Trump about a religious leader supposedly not being able to question someone’s faith is about what you should expect from a delusional psychotic)…

…and Rachel Maddow tells us about Russia’s claim that our intelligence “slept” during the ’16 elections (probably right, unfortunately)…

…and I thought these were some timely words from K.O. about the recent anniversary and our tiny-handed, impulse-control-issue chief executive (and for local folk, I offer this)…

…and Seth Meyers gives us a roundup of sorts also on Irma and cable news coverage, as well as that white nationalist POS who was interviewed by Charlie Rose for reasons that truly escape me (yeah I know – ratings…way to give this bottom-feeder a free channel to spout his disgusting garbage…I have a feeling Ed Murrow, Bill Paley, Cronkite, etc. are doing somersaults in their graves)…

...and the little girl in this video is my new hero (heroine?) for the month for flipping off that Infowars clown "reporter" (and Alex Jones is a ridiculous cartoon of a life form, but we knew that, didn’t we?)...

…and I know I’m way overdue for some great new music, so here it comes (and I don’t think he sounds like The Black Keys, but I’d be OK even if he did).

Monday, September 11, 2017

Monday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

It looks like Charlie Dent, the apparently exiting U.S. House Repug rep from PA-15, won’t be missed by these brave men and women in uniform (more here)…

…and I think this video highlights another type of bravery to be commemorated for this day in particular…

…also commemorated by these videos.

Thursday, September 07, 2017

Thursday Stuff

How about “two weeks” left in your utterly wretched presidency, Herr Gropenfuhrer?...

…and there are so many outrages going on right now with our tiny-handed impulse-control-issue-child of a chief executive, but though I’m sure nobody is forgetting his DACA atrocity, I’m presenting this video about it anyway (more here and here)…

…and I can’t imagine the stupidity of people who still continue to listen to that fathead Flush Limbore, and hopefully I never will (here)…

Update 9/8/17: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

…particularly given this (for help, click here)…

…but I guess some of the same life forms who think climate change is just a scheme to make that fat Al Gore rich are outraged over this instead…

…even though their hero is a few fries short of a happy meal, you might say…

..and here are a couple more Steely Dan tunes to wrap up my tribute to Walter Becker…I have to dip out for a few days for personal reasons – not sure if I’ll be able to post on Monday the 11th, but I’ll try; if not, I should be back to this by the 12th or so.

Wednesday, September 06, 2017

Wednesday Stuff

I think there's a little more to the whole Woodrow Wilson thing than K.O. notes (not saying he wasn't a little guilty of racism too, but he was more badly served by his underlings than guilty himself of hurting minorities IMHO), but I realize that the main point here is Generalissimo Trump’s infernal efforts to throw about 800,000 people out of this country…

…and Rachel Maddow talks here with Dem U.S. House Rep Adam Schiff of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee over the Repugs and their apparent inconsistencies about sending out subpoenas – they seem to be in a hurry this time to try and discredit the Steele Dossier, which looks more and more credible (important Schiff update is here – more here)…

…and boy, do I hope some of these conservative numbskulls need medical treatment from an RN, in particular Tucker and this Gregg Re life form – I’m sure the nurses will be nothing but professional as they just about always are, but it will still give me a laugh (didn’t realize the cops may not have been allowed to conduct a high-speed chase also, by the way…this has to do with the Utah nurse who was roughed up by the idiot cop, even though she was doing her job in exemplary fashion)…

Update 9/5/18: I realized that I never provided this update - my bad.

…and yeah, apparently “prosperity gospel” preacher Joel Osteen is really that big of a jagoff (something to keep in mind when contemplating the pic at the top of this post)…

…and here are a couple of more Steely Dan tunes for Walter Becker…

…including this one, which could be the Gropenfuhrer’s theme song.

Tuesday, September 05, 2017

Tuesday Stuff

Farron Cousins of “Ring of Fire” talks on DACA and the Tiny-Handed Orange Egomaniac’s decision to kill it (and this is the brave individual Cousins was referring to)…

…and Rachel Maddow reminds us that, when it comes to the Repugs and demonizing minorities (Latinos in particular, particularly those facing expulsion from this country as a result of Generalissimo Trump’s aforementioned decision to end DACA), it’s a feature, not a bug…

…and believe it or not, but “immunity gnome” Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, mentioned in the Maddow segment of course, wants to retry the woman who laughed during his confirmation hearing…

…and I bring you another installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 9/7/13 – I know we just observed Labor Day, but I think this is still a cautionary reminder…

…and I know it’s really hard to find humor any more, but I had to put this up (God, this is hilarious!)…

...and here is another Steely Dan tune as a tribute to Walter Becker.

Monday, September 04, 2017

Monday Stuff

Kudos to everyone giving what-for to the idiot politicians misrepresenting them, in particular on Trump/Ryan/McConnell-Scam-Care…

…and by the way, I’m not putting this video up to say that those suffering from Harvey should be denied the relief that needs to be provided for them; I’m just saying that it’s stupid to be talking about “offsets” when people are suffering and drowning, in particular “No Corporate Tax” Pat Toomey…

…and Thom Harrtmann speaks with climate activist Anthony Torres of the Sunrise Movement about the role (an actual one, I would argue) that the fossil fuel industry played in the Harvey disaster…

…and this gives us a bit of the history of the labor movement that led to this day…

…and here is more on the importance of Labor Day…

(More is here, by the way. And why should we be in any way surprised by this?)

…and gosh, aren’t you impressed by the way Generalissimo Trump showed “heart” when dealing with DACA recipients? Giving them six months, apparently (here - one F.U., let’s not forget)…he might as well have given them six minutes

Update 9/5/17: Actually, I was wrong - I should have said six seconds (here).

…and here is a tune for the holiday (continues to surprise me for some reason that these guys were from Scotland)…

…and another Steely Dan tune in tribute to Walter Becker.
