Tuesday Stuff

As all of us will do one day, it looks like “Deadeye Dick” has shed his mortal coil and gone onto whatever version of the afterlife awaits him...as I noted awhile back, I thought this Special Comment from Keith Olbermann was an appropriate response to this (maybe Big Time will get the chance to accidentally shoot someone in the face in Gehenna; I give Cheney credit for pushing back against Bronzer Beelzebub, which is more than Dubya did, but when it comes to Cheney’s good deeds, that’s the beginning and end of a very short list)...

...and Cenk Uygur of TYT gives us a commentary noting that Cheney was arguably the greatest fear of former President Eisenhower; Cheney spoke on that panel when #44 was president (oooh, scary black man wearing tan suit doesn’t defend us...GMAFB!)...

...and this shows Cheney’s neighbors toppling a makeshift statue of him in effigy near his home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in August 2007 (a nod to this, with the crowd chanting “No More Iraq War” and “Impeach Cheney First”)...

Update: More here.

...and turning to the ruin from our current Republican presidential administration, Rachel Maddow discusses all kinds of negative polling for Cantaloupe Capone (including CNN, with a disapproval rating higher now than when it was in the aftermath of 1/6...also, most polled believe we’re losing our global standing; additionally, #47 has a 54 percent disapproval on the destruction of the east wing of the White House...also, according to an ABC/WaPo poll, the die-hards in favor of Don The Con are down to 20 percent, and #47 is also polling badly on Israel/Gaza, running the government overall and those stinking damn tariffs...also, ripping off the DOJ for $230 million is polling about as well as you would expect...also, I know it’s good that we have a higher polling number for No Kings than MAGA, but I’m a little stunned that that number isn’t higher than 43 percent (glad to hear Maddow cheering that on, though); I guess some people will just never learn...

...and speaking of our current ruling cabal, Trevor Hayes of More Perfect Union investigated hundreds of Trump donors to “follow the money”...oh, and of course, Couch Boy doesn’t tell us that the reason Mango Mussolini went after Google was because #47’s account was suspended after the 1/6 insurrection...looks like our tech behemoths all gave Don The Con at least a mil each for #47’s inauguration because there aren’t any rules apparently on that sort of thing (at some point, assuming we turn things around, we’re going to have to put up so many guardrails in our federal government over the Gropenfuhrer’s excesses that it will be beyond belief, and the “R” party will be kicking and screaming every step of the way of course)...and oh yeah, it looks like the CFPB has been neutered under Pumpkin Pol Pot, just to let you know...report tells us about all of the tech giants (Google, Apple, Meta, etc.) making out like bandits under our current regime, including Apple’s exemptions from those beyond ridiculous tariffs (“a bribe with extra steps” indeed)...1 in 3 lawsuits brought by the government against Big Tech have been dropped by the regime of Dementia J. Trump...all the dough that supposedly went into #47’s inauguration might collectively be the biggest slush fund of all time...and $2 million for Chevron to operate in Venezuela, huh? Nah, Don The Con isn’t blowing up all of those boats and killing people without accountability for oil, huh? Not much he isn’t...and Boeing got in on the action too of course, since they needed legal cover what with their 737s falling out of the sky, resulting in mass casualties...as Hayes notes, all of this is only the tip of the metaphorical iceberg; we’ll likely never know about all of the people and various entities who paid off Our Treasonous Orange Pustule to get what they want...

...and for anyone in the “garden state” reading this, today is the day to vote for Mikie Sherrill for governor (more here)...

...and Canada responds to the Gropenfuhrer’s tariff increase over the “Saint Reagan” ad, courtesy of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert...sorry about the Blue Jays also, and kudos to Boyertown’s Trey Yesavage – they had a hell of a run...

...and happy 85th birthday to Delbert McClinton.

Monday Stuff

Emma Vigeland of The Majority Report brings us a clip of working mothers discussing what the loss of SNAP benefits will do to them and their families...and as it turns out, there is a SNAP contingency fund that Cantaloupe Capone could tap into, which would partially cover the loss of SNAP, but of course #47 won’t do that because the cruelty is the point...and oh yeah, let’s not forget that the Repug-run U.S. House has been on an extended vacation FOR OVER A FREAKING MONTH because MAGA Mike Johnson won’t swear in Dem Rep Adelita Grijalva since she would be the 218th signature on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files (under the heading of part of the reason behind the shutdown, which happens ONLY WHEN REPUGS ARE IN CHARGE)...and for the bonkers point of view on this subject, I give you Repug guv Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma (oh, the “rainy day” fund in his state is only for a “state” problem and not a “federal” problem; somehow I don’t think the people in his state who will go hungry care about the difference)...NSFW/H because of a completely true comment by Matt Lech (the Capitol switchboard phone number is 202-224-3121, as mentioned)...

...and for another insane point of view related to doing without SNAP, I give you Repug U.S. House Rep Clay Higgins here (meanwhile, while Higgins yells about SNAP, Trump gets his golden ballroom and tries to shake down his own DOJ for $230 million...more on Higgins here and here).

Here's the Majority Report clip...

...and Tennessee Brando tells us about the ex-cop from that state who was jailed for posting an anti-Trump meme (which, basically, was a quote from #47 applied to the Charlie Kirk murder in which the Gropenfuhrer said “we have to get over it” concerning school shootings, which is typically awful from Cheetoh Benito)...and I’m sorry, but I think the whole “community anxiety” rationale for the cops to go after this guy was basically a pretense for “don’t you DARE criticize someone who’s a conservative hero to us (meaning Kirk)”...that being said, I think this Bushart guy should have taken down the post when he was asked to by the cops, even though he shouldn’t have had to do that; yeah, the whole notion of jailing someone over a meme is bonkers unless it’s a threat to harm someone, which this wasn’t of course...Brando is spot-on though IMO to say that this is pretty much all about MAGA wanting revenge on anybody they dislike...”the party of cancel culture” for sure...more here (slightly NSFW/H)...

...and Chris Hayes informs us that the whole MAGA “third term” fantasy is Trump faking strength...and it looks like “MAGA Mike” Johnson is suffering from the same mental delusions as his boss; yeah, Repugs are looking good over the shutdown mess (uh, no)...and leave it to meth head Bannon to give away the game on a third term for Bronzer Beelzebub in ’28; just keep running your mouth on that and see how that works for you (I’m sure our cattle ranchers and soybean farmers would like a word)...

...and under the heading of “getting over it” (concerning the Brando clip), I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 11/4/16, in which that phrase is uttered by Trump-supporting women voters in response to sexual assault allegations against Cantaloupe Capone (with Cenk and Ana of TYT)...yep, Heaven forbid that Dear Orange Leader is questioned in any way, which has worked out exactly as an adult with a functioning brain synapse could have predicted (and yes, this Carol Robertson person is indeed a “deplorable”...I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; there is definitely “Obama hatred” in this country, as well as “Biden hatred,” but there is NO HATRED in this country like “Clinton hatred,” which is pretty much a religion for a hell of a lot of people)...definitely NSFW/H...

...and I thought this was a particularly timely take from Mr. Newberger on the shut down and those miscreants who are most responsible...

...and as long as we're in a bit of a blues idiom you might say, I thought I'd include this number to get the week started.

Friday Stuff

Brian Tyler Cohen comments on Dem AZ Senator Ruben Gallego’s idea of renaming that stinking White House ballroom in honor of Barack Obama, which (short of destroying it utterly with the same wrecking ball used on the East Wing) is a good idea as Cohen says because it would get you-know-who's shorts tied into perhaps a permanent knot...and by the way, I think it was Jake Tapper who said Dems had clipped the “top priority” quote from spokes-liar Karoline Leavitt...um, that quote sounds pretty legit to me based on this clip (and I give Jessica Tarlov so much credit for dealing with those hyenas on that ridiculous show on her trash network...NSFW/H)...

...and John and Sharon Reed of The Damage Report let us know that it looks like the alleged “peace deal” with #47’s pal Bibi went up in smoke, including 46 kids and 20 women killed in the latest strike; add that to the death total of about 211 Palestinians since this “truce” was supposedly struck...and once more, the butcher in charge of Israel demonstrates that he doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “proportional response,” assuming the Israeli story about Hamas violating the cease fire is even true...oh, and Our Sweaty Orange Boy says Hamas should behave itself in response...uh huh (I don’t think I’ve ever heard John so animated...kudos)...

...and David Pakman tells us more about large-scale job losses as the economy under Cantaloupe Capone collapses, with at least 100K jobs gone in total across a variety of industries...I’d heard about the AWS (Amazon Web Services) outage, but I didn’t know the impact was as widespread as it was (I read awhile back that Amazon makes more money out of AWS than it does over its consumer business)...and of course, the dirty little secret about AI (well, maybe not so secret now) is that it will lead to even more job losses...

...and Belle of the Ranch discusses #47 saying he doesn’t need Congress, which, as Belle notes, is particularly demented given that he indeed needs Congress to pass a budget...I guess Bronzer Beelzebub decided that he got everything he wanted in his Big Beautiful Clusterf*ck so now he can just kick back, eat Big Macs and watch Fix Noise for another three-plus years while Pee Wee German runs the country...

...and Desi Lydic of The Daily Show brings us the tale of Our Treasonous Orange Yam greeted by “YMCA” when landing in South Korea, where Pumpkin Pol Pot gets a “golden crown”; I’m old enough to remember Dem VP nominee Tim Walz warning last year about everybody in the world paying off Don The Con with flattery to get whatever they want...I realize it’s tough to come up with humor over the fact that A WHOLE BUNCH OF (MORE) PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GO HUNGRY WITH THE LOSS OF SNAP BENEFITS STARTING ON SATURDAY (and once more, I give you this), but Lydic gives it a good try...and yeah, what a shame Timothy Mellon couldn’t find some dough for SNAP, amirite – I guess he thinks that’s just more stinky “big gumint” socialism (but paying our troops isn’t??)...w/Michael Kosta (mildly NSFW/H)...and by the way, I know I spend a lot of time here commenting on #47’s latest insanity, but believe me when I tell you that I would LOVE to devote more time instead to commenting about what Dems would do if they ever returned to power, but Team “D,” as usual, does a lousy job of telling folks about that, which is inexcusable...

...and uh oh, here comes the Big, Scary, Radical Left Agenda (I guess that counts a little towards what I just said) – RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!...

...and RIP bassist extraordinaire Anthony Jackson...

...and by the way, Happy Halloween everybody (in spite of everything).

Thursday Stuff

Richard Ojeda of Rebel HQ tells us that nobody’s buying Trump’s BS on the economy, despite the “happy talk” spin at Fix Noise over Hamburger Helper (the epitome of processed food – no wonder there’s a diabetes epidemic in this country I say to myself), which is typical...more here on our cattle ranchers getting it in the neck from Pumpkin Pol Pot and his “buy Argentinian beef” move...”the stupidity doesn’t discriminate between party lines” indeed...one of Ojeda’s great points is that this supposedly great beef deal with Argentina is going to do nothing but give us what amounts to the entrails; the prime cuts will likely end up on the plate of the one percent as per usual (and speaking of Fix Noise stoo-pidity, there is also this)...

...and Kyle Kulinski echoes this somewhat as he presents Combover Caligula’s poll numbers which are crumbling to abysmal new lows...and I’m sorry, but I don’t have much of a positive opinion about Hispanic voters as a bloc based on what happened last year; yes, the Dems did a typically awful job of outreach, but that still doesn’t absolve those voters IMO...looks like #47 went from even last year to 25-65 down now with those voters, echoing similar numbers with other groups...this is eminently predictable given the ICE Gestapo raids and the militarization of our cities to go after immigrants, and those stinking tariffs aren’t helping one bit either of course...a 20-point lead among Independent voters is good, but we’re a looong way from November ’26 (and as a commenter on YouTube pointed out, anybody in that 32 percent favorable range based on the polling must meet the clinical definition of insanity)...and 25-67 when it comes to Gen Z voters, huh? Yeah, I’d consider building a ridiculously ostentation ballroom to try and hide from voters also with numbers like that...more here (NSFW/H)...

...and Jon Stewart of The Daily Show (of course) brings us up to date on the ballroom fandango and a whole bunch of other Trumpist garbage, including that idiotic dance (again) in Kuala Lumpur (somewhere along the line, it looks like Mango Mussolini ditched the red tie, albeit briefly...and believe me when I tell you that I would LOVE to see Our Treasonous Orange Yam try to hold down a job in news media...all he would do it trip over his metaphorical d*ck and it would be truly hilarious)...

...and as we know, every once in a while, a story comes along which stops you pretty much dead in your tracks, and yesterday’s news of the passing of longtime WMMR disc jockey Pierre Robert definitely falls into that category...to say Robert was a radio institution in these parts doesn’t even begin to describe his positive impact for over 40 years...definitely a joyful presence who tried his very best to share his love of music (and Philly overall, really) with all of us...I can’t imagine filling the musical and cultural void created by his loss, assuming that’s even possible, but I guess the best tribute we could pay to him would be to remain positive and reach out to others as he would and try to imitate his example...

...and if there was one band Pierre loved above all others, it was the Grateful Dead, so I’d like to offer this selection as a tribute (I suppose I should include “Alice’s Restaurant” which he would play every Thanksgiving...maybe another time)...

Update: Also, speaking of Philly radio personalities, I used to listed to this guy a lot during the morning drive time (and for Temple Owls football)...RIP as well.

...and here is another seasonal selection.

Wednesday Stuff

Jesse Dollemore informs us that nearly half of ICE recruits (about 200 apparently) showing up for training are being sent home because they can’t pass an open book test on the Constitution or immigration law, and some also have prior convictions and apparently can’t pass a drug test; additionally, it seems a bunch of these nematodes were brought onboard without going through the full vetting process (mildly NSFW/H)...

...and Tennessee Brando tells us about MAGA mocking the hungry (here) as Cantaloupe Capone wrecks everything, which is typical for the bunch who yelled about groceries all over the place last year, believing that Their Orange God really would lower prices on day one as Brando points out...great point about the cruelty being what matters for Repugs generally; I don’t say that MAGA are different from other Repugs because they’re not – this Trumpist bunch is just the latest iteration of the same crew of intolerant assh*les...I love Brando’s take on the people who “punch down” the most and how these individuals pretend that they’re something special on every Sunday in particular (mildly NSFW/H)...

...and Farron Cousins brings us Americans sharing horror stories from Don The Con’s tariff nightmare...yep, corporate media in this country will NEVER have a problem finding well-off individuals saying how good economically everything supposedly is, but Heaven forbid that they go to these ubiquitous-during-the-presidential-campaign diners for more “Trump Voter In Trump Country” pieces NOW, because they’re likely to get a dose of reality...fortunately, The Guardian actually did what they were supposed to on this story, talking with 40 people to get the gory details...

..and Rachel Maddow tells us about protesting the Gropenfuhrer so he doesn’t take away the right to protest...”nothing is inevitable” indeed...yep, it figures that Bronzer Beelzebub would use a C-17 cargo plane to export a grand total of FIVE FREAKING PEOPLE out of the country (ahhh, just smell the incompetence, my fellow prisoners...more here)...kudos to Maddow for in particular highlighting Comcast for contributing to that stinking ballroom...not sure why this was cut at the moment Maddow talked about the Chicago protests against ICE (more here)...

...and I guess it was inevitable that our neighbors to the north would respond with their own version of (N)ICE...oh, the humanity! (here)...

...and I realize we’re heading into the time of year for witches and goblins and the like (and the kids are getting ready to head out for candy – hopefully the weather will cooperate)...with that in mind, I present this tune.

Tuesday Stuff

Thom Hartmann speculates as to why Combover Caligula is after Venezuela...to be honest, I think it’s just for the damn oil, but it’s still an interesting theory that Vlad The Butcher wants #47 to attack that South American country because that revives the whole “pre-emptive war” thing against a nation that hasn’t attacked us (like the “Moscow Munchkin” did with Crimea and Ukraine, as Thom tells us; some scary parallels here)... 3:24 to 4:33 is an ad...interesting perspective from caller “George” about alliances Venezuela has with Russia; Putin would just LOVE to see us bogged down in another forever war, which would garner sympathy for “the Russian bear” since they would be perceived to be getting picked on by the world’s most powerful military – just my theory I’ll admit (and once more, there is this)...

...and David Pakman lets us know that everything is falling apart under Don The Con, including SNAP benefits for 42 million people...and as always, every accusation is a confession from this bunch, this time about “extortion”...and I honestly don’t know how Bronzer Beelzbub can sue his own DOJ for $230 million, but I realize any notions of legality don’t pop into this demented fourth-grade brain (and I’d actually forgotten about the $200 million from Kristi “Unsafe At Any Speed” Noem on her private jets)...and speaking of SNAP benefits, I’ll try to have more to say about this...

...and Robert Reich tells us about all the ways that the biggest names in the supermarket biz are ripping us off with pricing scams for supposedly “on sale” merchandise (“minimal competition opens the door to maximum price gouging” indeed)...

...and this clip from More Perfect Union takes a bit of a deep dive into AI leading to antisocial behavior (my paraphrasing), having to do with an over-reliance on AI chatbots (reporter is Karen Hao)...LA music producer James Cumberland is profiled; apparently, he used an AI chatbot to learn how to make a music video and went down the proverbial rabbit hole, tied to the threats of sycophancy and “emergence”...this is also tied to more and more data centers being built to create more and more sophisticated AI apps to harvest more and more data, and I hope you see the same slippery slope here that I do...as far as I’m concerned, this is also a consequence of our lives becoming more fragmented and isolated and dependent on technology (not a very original “hot take” I realize)...Sam Altman of Open AI is featured, discussing ChatGPT...I just don’t know enough about this yet to determine whether or not Altman’s steps to address the issues raised here are good enough; I hope they are of course...and as usual, Brave Sir Josh Hawley makes good-sounding noises on an issue for headlines, but the proper follow through never sems to materialize (somewhat NSFW/H)...

...and Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show takes a look at Fix Noise token personality Lawrence Jones...I have to admit being more than a little fed up with people proclaiming, “Well, I’m a conservative/libertarian/whatever, so that means that my opinions are my own”...oh puh-leeze! Rupert Murdoch tells you to jump and you ask “how high?” just like everyone else in The Roger Ailes BS Factory...also, I think we’re fortunate that Jones knows nothing about criminal matters (here) or foreign policy (here)...

...and tomorrow marks the 54th anniversary of the death of Duane Allman in a motorcycle accident.

Monday, October 27, 2025

Monday Stuff

“We’re just gonna kill people” (perhaps not an exact quote I know, but close enough)...Jesse Dollemore tells us that that’s the very latest utterance from Our Treasonous Orange Yam; there’s so much verbal diarrhea that comes out of his stinking maw that I’ll admit that it’s hard to parse some of it properly, but we now have evidence that this narcissistic sociopath is just planning to commit indiscriminate acts of murder when he feels like it (once more, that quote about shooting people on Fifth Avenue fits, unfortunately)...I suppose it’s necessary once again to point out that the president has to go to Congress for a declaration of war, which is spelled out in the Constitution Repugs pretend to revere so fervently...I think Jesse is right to point out that this language from Combover Caligula is just an extension of what he said towards people who disagree with him on other issues, such as the militarization of our cities, the rampant (likely) criminality of his administration overall, #47’s ridicule of the climate crisis as “the green new scam,” etc. (mildly NSFW/H)...

Update: And this development should surprise exactly no one.

via GIPHY

...speaking of violence, John and Viviana Vigil of The Damage Report (definitely not them) inform us that one of Trump’s 1/6 pardoned insurrectionists, Jake Lang, is seeking a U.S. Senate seat from Flori-DUUUH!, and this guy is apparently running on a campaign to deputize Proud Boys and other insurrectionists to go after people they think are illegal immigrants; why should this be considered a stretch at this point...oh, and by the way, another 1/6 rioter has been charged, this time with threatening to kill Hakeem Jeffries, and that would be some life form named Christopher Moynihan (but, of course, according to Sean Inanity, the alleged threat from dancing inflatable frogs and unicorns is more urgent than the terroristic acts of those 1/6 criminals pardoned by the Gropenfuhrer since violence is only coming from the left...uh huh)...

Update 10/31/25: And here is the latest idiocy from "the sunshine state."

...and Chris Hayes gives us more on the destruction of the east wing of the White House (“exactly what I expect from that idiot” for sure)...at least Democratic senators have shown a sign of life, writing to the National Park Service as well as the trust from the donors collecting for the construction asking for details, such as when the project began and at what point they knew how much it would cost, as Hayes points out...looks like dough to settle #47’s bogus lawsuits went towards this ridiculous project also...and oh yeah, we also get an idea of how much the Gropenfuhrer and his kin have benefitted from crypto (BINANCE specifically, whose CEO was just pardoned, allowing resumption of US operations...pardon recommended by “a lot of people” of course...more lies), which is used largely by criminal enterprises...Hayes speaks with Jamelle Bouie and Douglas Brinkley (“a symbol of Trumpism” indeed...and this should suprise exactly no one)...

...and oh, baaad Democrats for clipping the “main priority” quote from spokes-liar Karoline Leavitt (here); do you know what I say in response? GOOD FOR THE DEMS, considering that Fix Noise clips quotes from Democrats ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!!...

...and speaking of madness from our delusional, ketchup-tossing toddler who just wrecked "the people's house" (more on that here), it appears that Dementia J. Trump just raised the tariff on Canada because he has hurt fee fees over an ad by that country featuring “Saint Reagan” explaining how awful tariffs really are (more here and here)...and last I checked, you didn’t need permission to quote words from a speech in the public domain with proper attribution (Update: Doug Ford chickened out and took down the ad) – the spot aired during the Toronto Blue Jays/Seattle Mariners ALCS game; not sure which one...I definitely could do without some of Scar’s kibbitzing here, but I think there’s also a lot of substance in this clip...

...oh, and concerning the White House ballroom, here’s more from Mr. Newberger (it would be tragically apt if somehow this wreckage made the entire White House structurally unsound to the point where it needed to be torn down and rebuilt)...

...and I hope you’re in the mood for a newer blues tune, because here it is.

Friday, October 24, 2025

Friday Stuff

David Doel discusses the latest dustup over the alleged Nazi tattoo from Graham Platner, contrasting Platner with Janet Mills (recruited to run in the Maine Dem U.S. Senate primary by Chuck “What Do The Baileys Think?” Schumer...Mills I mean); it should be noted that Mills (as we learn in the clip) condemned moves in her state to divest from Israel (what’s a genocide between best buds like “Bibi” and Pumpkin Pol Pot, though Biden was also no better on this issue to be fair)...I can’t think of a word to describe how preposterous it is for anybody to get a case of the vapors over a Dem with a questionable tattoo (that he has already covered up by the way, as noted here) when you have BASICALLY AN ENTIRE POLITICAL PARTY ON THE OTHER SIDE EMBRACING PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE NAZIS STOOD FOR...also, I didn’t know much about Dem U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, but I definitely agree with his quote, as well as Ruben Gallego who also served of course, as did Platner...all I’ll say is that I don’t think you should decide whether or not to support Platner based on this kerfuffle...mildly NSFW/H...

...and David Pakman informs us that voters blame congressional Repugs for the shutdown by 50 to 43 percent (and that 43 percent is likely hard wired to reject ANYTHING having to do with Team D, facts and logic be damned...sounds like the blame hasn’t worked its way back to Bronzer Beelzebub yet, but give it time I say)...the most important number to me is the 72 percent approval (including among Repugs) for the ACA subsidies; I knew it was high, but I didn’t know exactly what it was...oh, and in case somebody thought that Senate Majority Leader John Thune was supposed to be the adult in the room, you can rest assured that he’s just another GOP liar...”Republicans don’t really understand the country that they broke” indeed...

...and Mike Figueredo of The Humanist Report tells us about some monster named Valentina Gomez saying "let the fireworks begin" while Israel continues to bomb Gaza, claiming Hamas violated the cease fire agreement (which, as we know, is Israel's go-to excuse for carrying out wanton destruction...and of course, Gomez is a Repug running for Congress for TX-31); this definitely isn’t a “one off,” since she’s done this with Muslims, LGBTQ plus individuals and others...and “Bibi” doesn’t care about anything approximating “proportional response” now or ever, and I know Figueredo knows that...and oh yeah, it’s not surprising to see Mango Mussolini congratulating himself for this phony baloney “peace deal”...I didn’t know the IDF abducted a 16-year-old boy who’s also an American citizen; once again, I can recall a time when our alleged political leaders would be up in arms over something like that...”reality is debatable to fascists” indeed; hard to control the nauseous reaction looking at those maps at about 10:04...definitely NSFW/H...

...and this CBC report brings us the tale of two nurses who moved from this country to Canada to escape Dementia J. Trump; story is from correspondent Lyndsay Duncombe...sounds like about 140 health care workers (so far) have moved to Nanaimo, B.C., a scenic town with a lot of health issues including an opioid epidemic; I’d be interested in a follow-up report to find out if any decided to move back, but somehow I don’t think many of them will (probably best to maintain dual citizenship and not revoke your U.S. status)...

...and I know I’m a little behind on this (apologies), but I definitely wanted to include Jon Stewart’s earlier great bit on “The Daily Show” about the “No Kings” protests, with the idiotic carping from Fix Noise that you’d expect (can’t think of a word for the utter lack of reflection from The Roger Ailes BS Factory complaining about too many old white people)...we’re also reminded about all of the courtiers in industry sucking up to our Mad King, including Tim “Apple” (with said “whited sepulcher” in An Oval Office entertaining delusions of godhood)...mildly NSFW/H...

...and today marks what is basically the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (this is the day that the charter was implemented as noted here)...with that in mind, I tried to find a tune about such utterly non-Trumpian themes as peace and freedom and brotherhood, and I came across this number which I think is a bit timely – hope you find it somewhat inspirational.

Thursday Stuff

Belle of the Ranch tells us about the grocery problem faced by Bronzer Beelzebub...and an increase in “Go Fund Me” pages for groceries since we’re looking at the biggest price climb since the pandemic, huh?; Naaah, our economy isn’t doing the big swirl in the hopper – not much it isn’t...and it sounds like our regime of grifters and lowlifes knows that the tariff madness and ICE garbage are having an impact all over our economy, but the people in charge simply don’t care (and it does indeed sound like a good strategy to prepare as if we’re looking at a natural disaster, unfortunately)...

...and Tennessee Brando informs us that it looks like #47 was unsuccessful in trying to kill off another Vice President (i.e., the mishap at Camp Pendleton)...fortunately, CA guv Gavin Newsom had the foresight to close Interstate 5 near the base ahead of this nonsense so people didn’t get hurt (and when I say “nonsense,” I refer to the staged photo-op, not anything from our military)...I guess “couch boy” ended up OK, which is good; as much as I detest this regime (and despite what they want for us), I don’t encourage violence against any of them since that would be messed up, even for this motley collection of Homo sapiens...I didn’t think that the demonstration in honor of the Marine anniversary was timed to try and deflect attention from the “No Kings” protests, but that definitely makes sense...glad to hear Brando express concern about this Trumpist garbage somehow being normalized, which should NEVER happen (mildly NSFW/H)...

...and speaking of the recent “No Kings” protests. Robert Reich comments that he thinks “the sleeping giant is awakening” (hope so)...Reich goes over prior historical events (the McCarthyite witch hunts, Vietnam, Watergate) and attempts to draw a parallel to now...every circumstance and context is different, and in prior years we had corporate media on our side, but I believe we can no longer say that, unfortunately...

...and Farron Cousins tells us that the nomination of Paul “I Had A Bit Of A Nazi Streak” Ingrassia to lead the Office of Special Counsel was just pulled because U.S. Senate Repugs said this guy wouldn’t even make it out of a committee for a floor vote, so apparently his mom went and complained, but to the U.S. House, which can’t do a damn thing in response...womp womp (oh, but she was mad at House Dems Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia for sending out that letter about her son; cue the world’s tiniest violin)...

...also, in a date perhaps forgotten (though it shouldn’t be), today is the 42nd anniversary of the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 of our service personnel and 307 people in total (here)...being the pointy-headed lib that I am, I always believed that the invasion of Grenada that came soon afterwards was pretty much an attempt at a diversion by The Sainted Ronnie R (initial reporting by David Brinkley)...

...and Stephen Colbert gives us his “Tearing Down The House” monologue...yeah, I know it’s a joke, but I could actually do without some ridiculous drama once in a while from Our Demented Orange Toddler in An Oval Office...this tells us more on Our Sweaty Orange Boy’s demolition of the east wing of the White House (just take a second and try to contemplate the sense of entitlement on display from such horrific destruction and also try to imagine what would have happened if a Democratic president had done something like this...there would be calls for impeachment 24/7/365 from EVERYBODY)...and yep, a typically clueless move from Scott Bessent to say, “ssshhh, no pictures of our wanton destruction of the people’s house”...and I hope nobody out there was planning to visit any of our national parks while the shut down WHICH COULD BE ENDED IF REPUGS STARTED ACTING LIKE ADULTS AND STOOD UP TO DON THE CON AND PROTECTED OUR HEALTH CARE continues...oh, and as I just noted, another Nazi nominee from our collection of guttural lowlifes bowed out, and that would be the previously mentioned Paul Ingrassia...and the story of the woman in the penis costume in Alabama who was handcuffed and arrested is partly dumb but also hilarious...

Update 10/24/25: A related item for Bluesky folks is here.

Update 10/26/25: More on this is here.

...also, today would have been the 100th birthday of Johnny Carson, without whom Colbert and many others likely wouldn't have jobs (a fact they all acknowledge with gratitude...by the way, I hope you won't be shocked to learn that this was rehearsed)...

...and happy recent 85th birthday to Manfred Mann – hope it was a good one.

Wednesday Stuff

David Pakman tells us about the most recent communication between juvenile Trumpist harpie Karoline Leavitt and Huffington Post reporter S.V. Date, who asked Leavitt a perfectly legitimate question about why the Gropenfuhrer and his boss were going to meet in Budapest, Hungary, land of fellow strongman Viktor Orban (where Putin said apparently in ’94 that he wouldn’t invade Ukraine), and Leavitt responded with “Your mom did” – so professional...and this clueless neophyte Leavitt apparently thinks Date is a “journal”...um, no – you’d be referring to a book, something I would venture to guess that you’ve never read (slightly NSFW/H)...

...also, David Shuster of Rebel HQ lets us know about ICE getting slapped with a $50 million lawsuit for throwing a 79-year-old man to the ground (car wash owner Rafie Ollah Shouhed...more here; bad that the man was hurt of course, but good for the lawsuit!)...and yeah, in addition to slamming this man onto the concrete, let’s just detain him for 11 hours for no good reason...oh, and let’s handcuff 11, 12, and 13-year-old kids also including little girls while we’re at it...and man, would I like to treat that woman getting onto the elevator yelling at those ICE bastards to a beverage of her choice (not because I have designs, I wish to emphasize, but only to show appreciation for her guts)...NSFW/H...

...and Rachel Maddow tells us that “MAGA Mike” Johnson is still keeping the U.S. House out of session to protect Cantaloupe Capone...must be nice to have a job where you can take at least five weeks of an unplanned vacation, all to avoid seating a Dem U.S. House rep in Arizona who would be the last signature on the discharge petition to make our cretinous ruling regime release the stinking Epstein files at long last (which I’m sure are redacted as hell by now...love to be wrong about that)...and oh yeah, military families and government workers are lining up at food pantries (but the Repugs definitely “support our troops”...sure they do)...additionally, it looks like Dementia J. Trump wants to furlough 80 percent of the workers tasked with keeping our nukes safe...also, we’re starting to get the numbers on healthcare premium increases as a result of the Big Beautiful Clusterf*ck (e.g., a family of four in Maine making $130K will face an approximate $16K increase annually in health insurance...it’s a similar story for families across the country...sounds like a good reason to shut everything down to fix this insanity)...

...and I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 10/26/07...this pertains to kids’ health care and is really aimed at Congress I realize, but I think it fits (also with this in mind) given that our legislative branch has decided to put any notion of integrity or guts in a blind trust in order to maintain fealty to Mango Mussolini...

...and I thought this was another timely bit from Mr. Newberger...

...and kudos to Kenny Loggins for this, which kind of brings to mind this tune for yours truly (I realize there’s kind of a “Cat’s In The Cradle” thing going on here – I’m trying to do a bit of a deeper dive into Loggins’s material and resist a more obvious selection...leave it to our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes to try and steal more intellectual property for propaganda purposes).

Tuesday Stuff

Kyle Kulinski tells us about Dementia J. Trump murdering more people in another Venezuelan fishing boat...I’m old enough to remember when we would actually have congressional oversight hearings about carrying out extra-judicial killings of individuals living in foreign countries who were accused of trying to do harm (looks like our ruling regime has carried out the fourth such attack that we know of as well as one on a Colombian boat as noted here – 27 people murdered in 6 weeks as Kyle points out)...yep, the Gropenfuhrer is indeed “marrying” the War on Terra! Terra! Terra! Terra! with the war on drugs...I honestly don’t know if this garbage from Combover Caligula is a pretext to a ground invasion, which is horrifying, but that has to be considered unfortunately, and all for O-I-L (NSFW/H)...

...and Thom Hartmann lets us know that Jamie Dimon of J.P. Morgan Chase recently said that he’s worried about a “market correction,” which is econ-speak for something really bad happening to the economy (and the fact that we’re in the fourth quarter when this often takes place is even more worrisome IMO)...Dimon’s concerns are apparently shared by the head of the IMF...in addition to the tech bubble Thom mentions under Clinton, we also had the housing bubble under Dubya, and we know what happened with that, right?...

...and Yasmin Khan of Rebel HQ lets us know about Our Treasonous Orange Pustule recently holding some “roundtable” with pretend wingnut “journalists” where #47 continues to lie about an “insurrection” underway in Portland (I guess the “insurrection” is led by dancing blow-up toys including a bunch of inflatable frogs)...and as usual, it takes a court of law to hold Pumpkin Pol Pot accountable...also, it looks like Our Cretinous Ruling Regime is adding more than its share of AI slop to keep as many people misinformed as possible...and for the record, we’ve given $21.7 billion in aid to Israel since Hamas’s disgusting, murderous attack on Israeli civilians, an amount which is beyond all possible reason and explanation IMO given Israel’s most recent destruction in Gaza; also, this report informs us of just how much Israel is pretty much ignoring the cease fire agreement supposedly in place...we also hear once more about “I’ll Drink To That” Hegseth’s attempt to get journalists to only report on news approved by the Defense Department, which only the pretend “news” network OAN has agreed to...by the way, the headline for this Rebel HQ video is “Republicans Terrified as Trump is Duped By Fox News,” and if you can find evidence of that claim in this clip, please let me know...

...and Jake Cimperman of More Perfect Union tells us how the truly die-hard fans of the Buffalo Bills football team are going to get priced out of seats in the new stadium (oh, excuse me – I forgot that we’re discussing the oh-so-august-in-their-imaginations NFL, so we’re not talking about sets per se, but slots to potentially purchase seats one day through what’s called a “personal seat license”)...yes, inasmuch as I follow any Philly sports team, I do indeed follow The Birds, but I’m definitely sympathetic to Buffalo also (unless they play us, of course)...I would never imagine buying Eagles season tickets even if I could because I would likely need to take out another mortgage to do it...interesting tale of the Pegula family that owns the team, NY Governor Kathy Hochul, and a bunch of public dough thrown around in backroom deals, but again, the working class fans are getting left out in the cold (and since we’re talking about Buffalo, I DO MEAN cold!)...and not even a veterans’ discount, huh? Just no end to the rapacious greed of these one percent bastards...

...and Stephen Colbert tells us that Our Treasonous Orange Pestilence held a big soiree for everybody dishing out dough for that ridiculous White House ballroom...and yeah, many people have said, “Sir, your design for the arch is brilliant! No one has ever thought of that!” (snark mode off)...and yeah, that sure is some scary footage of Chicago that’s really from red states, amirite?...also glad to see the young Republican a-holes get cuffed again...

Update: More here.

...and today is the 60th anniversary of the recording of this song by the Fab Four (in about three takes, apparently).

Monday Stuff

Jesse Dollemore informs us that some self-proclaimed prophet lady named Kim Robinson claimed she saw Charlie Kirk riding horses on a ranch with Jesus or something along with puppies, skiing and rollercoasters in Heaven...I think somebody has had one too many servings of sacramental wine, if you catch my drift...and apparently this pink-haired Kat Kerr person is cut from the same wretched cloth, if you will (and she’s promoting a web site also because of course)...

...and in case you were wondering what kind of response we’d get from Mango Mussolini to the “No Kings” protests, Brian Tyler Cohen tells us about it, which is about what you can expect from this ketchup-throwing-tantrum child in An Oval Office...oh, and along comes bootlicker “MAGA Mike” to criticize Obama for closing the mall in DC during the 2013 shutdown; um, I don’t recall that SEVEN MILLION people protested President Obama, and there were A HELL OF A LOT OF OTHER PROTESTS besides the one in DC yesterday aimed mainly at the Gropenfuhrer (and this tells us about our corporate media apparently being afraid to call out poop when it is plainly obvious...NSFW/H)...

...and did you hear the news that Cantaloupe Capone and “Dr.” (Trillion Dollars Added To The Economy) Oz want the elderly to work until we’re dead...we’ve known that Repugs want to raise the retirement age, but it looks like “Dr. CruditΓ©” is making that pretty damn plain now, along with forcing older Americans with disabilities to work because they want us to go back to Dickensian days of people pleading in the streets for loose change along with “work houses,” all in the name of trying to keep the economy going, which we hear about at this wingnut gathering at the Aspen Institute...Georgia is held up as a supposed example of Medicaid reform and the wonder of “work requirements,” with administrative costs blowing past the money spent on stuff like, y’know, ACTUAL PATIENT CARE!...I knew there was a disparity in life span between the wealthy and those with little means, but I didn’t know it was nine years...it’s almost funny to read how our ruling regime thinks that “desk work” is some kind of a panacea for people on disability to put their noses back to the grindstone, completely ignoring the fact that such work is highly specialized and those jobs don’t just fall from the trees, you might say...important to mention that people don’t retire on a disability benefit unless they have no other choice because they’ll ALWAYS make less money on disability than working full time...so many reasons to detest “Dr.” Oz, but pretty much ignoring that quote from Hubert Humphrey is just another example of how twisted Oz really is...

...and Farron Cousins lets us know that Don The Con would make the student loan crisis so much worse by selling off the federally subsidized debt to private investors instead of sending that dough back to the federal government (yep, here comes yet another private equity scam, trying to monetize something the feds did much better for comparatively little cost, and our glorious financial captains of industry can indeed do whatever the hell they want with that debt as Cousins notes, including seizing more of our assets)...yes, Biden provided some student debt relief, but I recall that the SCOTUS of Hangin’ Judge JR threw a monkey wrench, you might say, into all of that (here)...we’re talking about $1.6 trillion in student loan debt owed by 45 million people as Cousins points out...

...and I thought Mr. Newberger did a typically good job here of responding to the latest Trumpian nonsense...

...and I also thought this newer tune was a good choice to help us ease into the week – hope you agree.

Sunday Stuff

Time to get to yesterday’s “No Kings” protests in this country and across the world; organizers estimate that about seven million people did participate...first, we have reports from Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Chicago, as well as rural Virginia (and more B.S. from “MAGA Mike”...yep, just keep believing that, you brown-nosing guttersnipe)...with Robert Weissman...

...next, we go to Minneapolis, MN...

...and onto South Florida...

...continuing, we go to Boston (not surprising that they absolutely killed it; Boston mayor Michelle Wu is interviewed...my only objection is the note from this Sue McConnell person saying the federal government “has been shut down by the Democrats” – for someone who’s supposed to be a political analyst, that’s an incredibly misinformed statement...Democrats control absolutely nothing in the federal government)...

...and we can't forget NYC (also San Francisco, Chicago and Washington, D.C. – and once more, “MAGA Mike” Johnson is completely and utterly full of sh*t)...

...and onto Pittsburgh we go, with a report from KDKA...

...and we can't forget Philly of course (and the two-word response from the Trump regime to the protests apparently was “Who cares?”...a typically tone-deaf attitude)......

...we now go to Chattanooga, TN (and the anchor says the protests are holding “public leaders” accountable? Uh, don’t you mean the Big Bronzer Baby in the White House?)...

...also, there were protests in Charlotte and Waxhaw, NC (they don’t mention the dictator-style parade on Trump’s 79th birthday last June)...

...we definitely can't forget about Chicago either (good stuff from Mayor Brandon Johnson at Grant Park)...

...next we go to Portland, Oregon (which, as we know, has been in the news lately)...

...and onto Bozeman, MT...

...also there was a protest in Lafayette, LA (MAGA Mike’s home state)...

...and to San Diego (in support once more of Prop 50)...

...and this covers protests starting in Florida, NYC, Charlotte, NC, Hollywood, FL, Washington, D.C., Detroit, and LA, as well as Berlin and Paris...

...we now go to North Texas, including Dallas, Plano, Arlington and Frisco...

...and staying in the “lone star state,” Dem U.S. House Rep Greg Casar speaks to a crowd in Austin...

...and returning to our nation’s capital, I give you the following from Dem U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut...

...and I think this is an apropos tune to commemorate yesterday’s fight for our democracy.

Update 1: For Bluesky folks here...

Update 2: Another Bluesky update from this country here...

Update 10/20/25: Oh, and by the way, Senator “We’re all going to die” dumped on the No Kings protests on Saturday (here); here’s a portion of what took place at her state capitol in Des Moines.
