Tuesday Stuff
This is your periodic reminder that our PA-01 U.S. House Rep Brian Fitzpatrick won’t come out of hiding and debate his Democratic challenger Bob Harvie running in this fall’s election.
Thom Hartmann tells us about Amendment 82 in Colorado (pushed by yet another dark money group called Advance Colorado), which apparently would strip local pollution regs and lock in fossil fuel dependence (peachy)...as Thom says, if somehow this passes (God forbid), we can expect similar legislation to pop up across the country...of course, there is definitely an alternative in renewables (I’d also like to get in a commercial of sorts for the great state of Vermont that we recently visited, where there were solar panels all over place and it definitely didn’t blight the glorious landscape)...great discussion here on the Germany Rooftop Solar Plan that Thom mentions; also didn’t know that Nebraska has managed to keep a for-profit utility company out of the state for about 80 years (BTW, it looks like about $600 billon in green energy investment from Biden managed to get allocated despite the efforts of Dementia J. Trump to wipe it out as noted here)...
...and Jesse Dollemore brings us the video of Dem U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan putting that Repug operative in his place over that beyond ridiculous Muslim brotherhood question at a recent town hall (something that, again it should be noted, Bri-Fi refuses to participate in)...and oh yeah, the next time you hear a Repug whine about “paid protestors,” I would ask that you keep in mind the $200 to be comped to college students making imbeciles out of themselves while they attempt to make Dems look bad (that amount does indeed buy a lot of Ramen)...telling that all “Tommy” could do is sneak out like a coward after he got a dose of reality (mildly NSFW/H)...
...and Belle of the Ranch informs us that the Consumer Price Index released by the BLS climbed 0.6 percent in September, as we learn, up from 0.4 percent in August, so inflation is not only going up, but at a faster rate...the biggest factor behind this is gas price increases (9.1 percent in September) due to #47’s Not-So-Excellent Adventure in Iran...housing costs also rose 0.4 percent from last month, as we also learn...average hourly pay fell 0.5 percent in September, which is another headline...”slowing inflation doesn’t mean prices go back to where they were; it just means that they rise more slowly” indeed...
...and Yasmin Khan of Rebel HQ talks about younger voters and what appears to be a 50-plus point swing in a direction away from #47 from two years ago...not hard to see why for the reasons Khan points out, namely affordability overall, the cost of education, the crappy job market, wrecking government agencies where they could potentially be employed, etc...and a 91 percent disapproval with the Gropenfuhrer on inflation?? Jumpin’ Judas H. Priest on a pogo stick!...and if the Dems are returned to power in Congress, they’re going to have their hands full to be sure, but they should allocate some time to investigate taxpayer dough Our Ochre Abomination has used for political propaganda...and I’m trying really hard not to dump on at least one of those younger voters in that clip, partly because what they say is the result of endless wingnut indoctrination to the exclusion of any perspective related to actual common sense (this Bluesky link provides further info for college loan borrowers, and when it comes to "Team D" and younger voters, let's keep this in mind please)...
...and the Onion News Network informs us that SecDef Kegseth has a bold plan to “kill everyone” by 2028...as usual, dancing on that razor’s edge between satire and reality...
...and we recently observed what would have been the 100th birthday of Chuck Berry – here’s a little number for the occasion.
