Wednesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow discusses Pumpkin Pol Pot in retreat as his anti-immigrant program becomes a political catastrophe (well, really, it’s that of Pee Wee German, but the proverbial buck stops with #47)...and I don’t want to hear one f*cking word of reprisal from Not Your Father’s Republican Party, since they had NO PROBLEM with kids, women, and people of another complexion getting terrorized by the ICE Gestapo, but as soon as a white male doctor was blown to pieces (and yes, that was also horrible), then apparently that was the proverbial bridge too far...and I’m definitely not of a mind to vote for a Repug ever again, and I can’t in Minnesota of course, but respect to former gubernatorial candidate Chris Madel for his stand...utterly shocked to hear Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma joining the “enough is enough” chorus...oh, and Greg Abbott says Bronzer Beelzebub needs to “recalibrate”; that waste of protoplasm would have been better off saying nothing...and I know Senate Dems have said they won’t fund DHS/ICE, and I hope they stick to their guns so to speak, but they’ve folded before (and this guy continues to be an embarrassment on this issue in particular)...also, I think Kristi Noem needs to update her resume, at a minimum...and oh yeah, those 7 U.S. House Dems who voted to fund DHS last week are now furiously backpedaling, which figures also...I love Maddow’s snark about our allegedly august business leaders, who were more “behind the curve” on this than anyone else...

...and taking a trip “across the pond,” Jonathan Pie opines on Terror in America (I was late with one of his recent clips, but I’m on time with this one)...boy, do I share his utter exasperation with this country and guns...I honestly didn’t know Alex Pretti had been shot TEN FREAKING TIMES!!!...as I’ve said before, we consider our politics to be “rough and tumble” in this country, but it’s a whole other matter for our friends on that “emerald isle”; they have no hesitation whatsoever about getting in someone’s face if they think the issue warrants it (NSFW/H)...

...and I know I haven’t done this in a good while, but I’d like to bring back “This Day In Doomsy History” from 1/28/17...sticking with UK-related stuff, I should point out that the acclaimed actor John Hurt passed away on 1/25/17, and this clip from “V for Vendetta” was offered as a tribute...if anyone wants a look at unadulterated, unobstructed MAGA Trumpism, I think Hurt demonstrates that pretty well here...

...and Tony Hinderman of Really American brings us the news that, apparently, more artists are bailing on Kid Rock and his MAGA music festival nonsense (another reason for yours truly to dump on what country music has become)...this includes Carter Faith and Morgan Wade, whoever they are (and I didn’t much care about Jason Aldean anyway, and he’s pretty much dead to me now), and Shinedown also really showed their butt on this one...also, kudos to the guy speaking out against school shootings (and once again, Jon Stewart completely nails it) (NSFW/H also)...

...and Stephen Colbert on The Late Show offers a thoughtful commentary on the execution of Alex Pretti, including the news orgs that contradicted the BS line from our ruling regime...and I know I haven’t said much about Gregory Bovino, who apparently is now one of the people who are going to be quite rightly left hung out to dry over this utter horror (I may have more on him later)...and good for Colbert to make his important points with humor, and believe me, you DO NOT WANT to piss off health care workers in particular, especially nurses...I have to admit I got a little choked up hearing those brave Minnesotans singing in that church, along with the clip of Pretti speaking about our veterans at the end...

...and as long as I took note of musicians telling Kid Rock and Cantaloupe Capone what they can do with their MAGA music festival, I think I should include a tune from someone else who stood up to our pathological ruling regime (here), and that would be Rhiannon Giddens (sorry I’m a little delinquent on this, but better late than never I guess).
