Here’s a fun little game – instead of Number 44, imagine that we’re talking about Former President Numbskull, and instead of John McCain and Saxby Chambliss (a man who once linked multiple Vietnam war amputee Max Cleland to bin Laden, let’s not forget), let’s imagine that we’re talking about Dick Durbin and John Kerry.
Now tell me the universe in which something like this would actually take place with the latter combination...

...and Bill Maher made his point with humor, but Chris Hayes makes his point with serious reporting and commentary (and I sincerely hope neither Jim Howell nor his family or friends will fall victim to gun violence in his state, but if that happens, he will have only himself to blame - and before we "blue staters" get too smug on the whole GOP "preemption" thing when it comes to guns in particular, keep in mind that that's what our beloved commonwealth of PA practices concerning the city of Philadelphia)...

...and how anyone can actually vote for any of the life forms in this video in light of these utterly ridiculous remarks (including Jeb Bush, the supposed "adult" in the room blaming liberal arrogance, or something, for the deterioration of this planet) is something I will NEVER know...
…and I give you the following remembrance in light of today’s 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion during World War II…

Yeah, I think the Bowe Bergdahl stuff is the last bloody straw for yours truly, for the reasons Rachel Maddow points out here (and leave it to corporate media harlot Diane Sawyer to criticize Pfc. Jessica Lynch for telling the truth and basically giving away the foul, fetid Bushco game)…

…and yes, this needs to be repeated as long as the other side keeps braying loudly, and wrongly, in consideration of the latest proposed EPA regulations…

As far as I’m concerned, it is an eternal shame that the United States, in its greed and dunderheaded stupidity, rewarded a regime responsible for the Tiananmen Square massacre by basically offshoring much of its computer hardware industry to that location (to say nothing of screwing over workers in this country and adding to the deficit, of course)…
…and I’ve had the following tune in my head all day in response to the above-noted story – have to dig deep into the archives for this one.

Rachel Maddow leads off with a collection of truly awful political ads before she turns to covering Teahadist victories this week in Texas; figures that the only way one of them could lose a primary election is to an energy industry executive (and speaking of MSNBC, I’ll remember this every time I go to their site and the first thing I see is that natural gas ad with that woman with her eyebrows who apparently doesn’t care whether or not her kids are ingesting fracking chemicals)…
…and yes, my fellow prisoners, Judge Rudolph Randa really is that bad (I have to admit, though, that I’m losing patience with Chris Hayes; he continually goes out of his way to give a forum for conservatives – the problem isn’t that these people have a contrary opinion, the problem is that they are demonstrably and provably wrong)…
...that being said, I noted on Wednesday that I was wringing my hands on the food issue in this country, so I think it’s important to put up this video for more information...

…and yes, I apologize for involving myself or anyone else into the 2016 stuff already, but when it comes to the future of the planet, I think that topic tops all others (as well as taking a well-deserved shot or two at Lex Luthor Scott)…
…and even though I thought “Cold, Dead Hand” was great, Jim Carrey remains pretty much an acquired taste for yours truly – I heard his recent commencement address was awesome, though, including this excerpt (I’ll have to go find the whole thing and watch it later)…
…and this guy made it to Philly last month – sorry I missed the show and didn’t put up the vid earlier.

Statistically, I’m sure we’ll be down this road again, as we wring our hands and do nothing while another lunatic lurks in the shadows – love to be wrong, of course (here)…
…and oh yeah, remember the Afghan War Number 44 inherited from Former President Nutball?…
…and aside from the latest income inequality news, which is terrible, please believe that I support the first lady’s food initiative, but if kids are going to just waste healthy food (monumentally stupid, and I would consider it a sin also), then maybe the schools do need the flexibility to manage their food budgets appropriately; yes, those criticizing Michelle Obama are mainly doing it because she’s a “D,” but maybe we need a meeting of the minds versus the mindless on this subject…still wrestling with this as you can tell…
...and I have to admit that, in a good way, this is an infectious little tune (can't tell you what's up with the huge pink slurpee, though).

How about a policy of “no vibrators, no guns,” then? You want to know how fast the High Court of Hangin’ Judge JR would overturn that one?...
…and I take no pride whatsoever in holding up Michael Kinsley to ridicule, but his comments about “the government” being able to decide what should be reported on above all else earns him scorn, which is truly sad…

Richard Burr nor “Dr.” Ben Carson have ever served our country (and almost just as galling is to see Nia Malika Henderson try to pivot this mess away from Burr to the Democrats – typical corporate media narrative; more false equivalency...the bill Henderson refers to "went down" in the Senate because it was killed by Senate Republicans, noted here)…

Happy 50th birthday to “The Great Society” of President Lyndon Johnson, derided (usually inaccurately) by wingnuts everywhere (here); the following clip comes from January 1965 (yes, lofty goals and picturesque rhetoric I know, but Johnson was a hard, cold realist too – there’s a lot more to learn about it, but this clip gives a taste of what it was all about)…

…and 80 years ago today, legendary bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were gunned down by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and his cohorts; of course, they were the subject of Arthur Penn’s equally legendary 1967 flick here (returning to the LBJ era again) starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons, and other fine actors; here is a tune for the occasion (spawned from the movie a year later of course) that I don’t think you would ever hear except for right now.

Well, I got one right anyway – congratulations to Kevin Strouse, and thanks to both Allyson Schwartz and Shaughnessy Naughton for their class in pledging their support to their party’s respective nominees (not quite sure how good Tom Wolf is at slinging back the mud that surely will come his way from Corbett and his pals, but we're about to find out).
Now, Strouse goes on to fight Mikey the Beloved in the fall (and please, for God’s sake, dispense with campaign ads like this one...sorry, but "happy touchy feely" doesn't work for yours truly)…
...actually, this is MUCH better - sorry I didn't show it sooner...
…and drat that tree-hugging Obama and his Bureau of Land Management (the same bunch trying to enforce the rule of law against wingnut welfare recipient Cliven Bundy) for trying to protect our environment and create jobs (removing my tongue from my cheek)…
…and here is an update to Robert Greenwald’s fine documentary “Koch Brothers Exposed” (Keith Olbermann's Special Comment about Citizens United looks more and more prophetic, unfortunately)…
…and I would have liked to see Alan Grayson, Pete DeFazio (a veteran) and Joe Crowley named to the BENGHAZI!!! circus instead (here), but I think these are good choices, particularly Rep. Cummings (part of me wants to see the Dems sit this out, but unfortunately, the cable news channels have a bigger squawk box than just about any other blogger out there, and for the Dems not to provide some kind of push back could be fatal from an electoral perspective)…
