...and part of the reason why I’m including this video is for everyone to watch Repug U.S. Senator John Hoeven completely dance around the question of whether or not Keystone XL will be attached to a bill to fund much-needed infrastructure repair and upgrading in this country, as well as any future legislation from “the world’s greatest deliberative body” – of course the answer is that the Repugs will keep bringing up Keystone over and over and over (and I think it’s telling that, when Hoeven talks about energy, he completely ignores renewables).
And by the way, good for Ed Schultz for mentioning the fact that, while Repugs will scream about “eminent domain” all the live long day when it comes to solar, wind and geothermal, they’re quiet as proverbial church mice when it comes to oil (here), though I would have been happier if he’d allocated his time a little better so Jane Kleeb had as much say as Hoeven…

I think it’s actually pretty hilarious to watch anyone from our supposedly “respectable” corporate media take shots at Jon Stewart for supposedly debasing our already-trashed political discourse, and Fix Noise dutifully obliges here (as always, though, it’s a stretch to consider these particular frauds as emblematic of anything whatsoever besides rank propaganda).
The networks with initials for names have fundamentally failed to educate and inform their audience on the critical issues that we face in this country, opting instead for a two-or-more-dueling-talking-head format that serves only to inflame passion instead of cultivating reason (for ratings of course, and also to try and deflect the charge of “liberal bias” that will be made by the usual suspects regardless). And the void created by that terrible decision has been filled by Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, John Oliver, and many others.

Science fiction writer Robert Heinlein, in his famous novel Starship Troopers, envisioned a society where voters, too, had to demonstrate their patriotism before being allowed to vote. In his fictional society, the right to vote came only after some kind of dangerous public service — in the military, as a volunteer in dangerous medical experiments, or in other ways that demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice personally for the common good. The thought was that such voters would be more careful, and less selfish, in their voting.
So when the five-day wonder of questioning Barack Obama’s patriotism is over, perhaps we should address another question: How patriotic is the electorate? And how long can we survive as a nation if the answer is “not very”? And we should proceed from there.
So, just for the record, "The Ole Perfesser" thinks that voting should only be allowed if someone of a suitable age had first participated in an activity like this...
…and I have no idea whether or not author Robert Heinlein was ever influenced by controlled substances or not – makes me wonder a bit based on that clip – but in case he was, I think that makes this NSFW commentary from Bill Maher (here) particularly at the end even more timely…

So the latest faux right-wing hero Dr. Ben Carson said the following (here)….
"They got the wrong philosophy (re, ISIS), but they're willing to die for what they believe, while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness," he said as Republican officials from across the country interrupted him with applause. "We have to change that."
Hmmm...to me, that sounds suspiciously like the following (but don’t hold your breath waiting for a fraction of the heat on Carson for his words that Maher ended up taking for his)…
…also, I thought this was a well-done segment by Rachel Maddow about the aftermath of the vote for war with Iraq in this country as compared to the vote in France for expanding the fight against ISIS (basically, one vote in opposition each time…part of me thinks everyone who voted for the AUMF should have sung The Star-Spangled Banner way back when in imitation of what France did, but in this country, I think that would have made the ultimate perversion even worse)…
…and this was truly funny stuff from Jon Stewart on FLA; the really funny part is that he did this on a show where Marco Rubio was a guest (have to check out that interview later)…
…and given that the prior clip featured the Sunshine State, here is perhaps its most famous performer favoring us with a tune written by the guy I put up here a couple of days ago.

…and as I know I’ve said ad nauseum, you’d be better off watching paint dry than viewing a minute or less of Fix Noise…
