…and I guess it really isn’t that much of a stretch to go from porn to Republican politics, since I believe the metaphor that comes immediately to mind would work on a couple of different levels…
…and I suppose nobody else is going to add this clip in response to this, so I might as well do it…
…and yesterday marked the signoff of folk radio legend Gene Shay in these parts after 50 years on the air (here) – many thanks and all the best (he favored us with this tune among many others yesterday, which still fits I guess).

...and I don't know much about Victoria Nuland, but if she thinks that media in this country tells nothing but the truth, then she must believe in fairies and elves too – is RT perfect? No, but no media outlet is, and casually trying to dismiss them as insignificant somehow is just plain dumb (and a nice little "get" by RT on Nuland at the end)...
...and RIP Rod McKuen – yeah, a bit of a '60s relic, but still a talented lyricist and vocalist.

I had a video here last night about IDF soldiers and the increased risk of suicide, and I thought that that, sadly, paralleled the experience of too many vets in this country, as Rachel Maddow reminds us in this clip (pathetic that Crazy Tom Coburn wasn't held up by our corporate media for the appropriate level of ridicule for his actions, but as always, IOKIYAR)...
...and speaking of ridicule, I thought this was an appropriate response to this story (and I'm sure Comcast feels really bad because they were actually busted for it - NSFW)...
...and have fun if you plan to watch that football game this weekend, but make sure to watch your balls (heh – I'm sure Marshawn Lynch is a great running back, but I have to tell you that I'm getting awfully tired of looking at his face every time I go to check the news on my phone)...
...and congrats to Sly Stone for this – hope the verdict survives the appeal.

I thought this was a particularly well-done report by Rachel Maddow on Loretta Lynch, nominated to take over as AG for Eric Holder, who I'm afraid will never get the credit he's due, much like his boss...
…and any loss of life is terrible, and I’m sorry for the Israeli soldiers and their families as noted in the report – all I’m going to point out is that this, to me, is strangely reminiscent of what our own military has suffered mainly as a result of Former Commander Codpiece and his Not-So-Excellent Adventure in Iraq…
...and yes, "Snitchens" ended up going over to the dark side under Bushco (and I can recall this particularly awful episode that followed), but for a time, he was spot-on as he was here, something I recalled in response to this (with "Senator Honor and Virtue" doing his angry old man thing yet again...when I recall Henry Kissinger, though, I think of this first and foremost)...
...and maybe if we rock a little harder, the weekend will get here sooner - just sayin'.

I’ll tell you what; I’ll make it so simple that even “Goober” Gohmert can understand it – if you let Netanyahu address Congress, then Pope Frank has to be allowed to do the same thing (here)…
…and yeah, I’m not crazy about the title of this college-level course either, but I guess I’m so old that I can remember when the point of courses like this was to actually attend and have something close to an informed discussion – of course, the phrase “informed discussion” is nowhere to be found at Fix Noise (slightly NSFW)…
…and turning to world stuff, it looks like providing the anti-malaria mosquito nets here doesn’t solve the intended problem without education; looks like folks in Tanzania still face one hell of a dilemma – either eat or protect your kids…
…and here is a little number in honor of this guy, whose birthday we observe here (hey, I’m overdue for some ‘80s trash :-).

Jon Stewart gives up the lowlights on the Repugs and their response to Number 44's State of the Union address (next-to-last one I guess)...
...and it was nice to see Bill Maher rebound with this “New Rules” segment after his utterly wretched one defending Flush Limbore – the fat jokes about Governor Bully are actually a little tiresome, though, partly because there are so many other reasons to go after him (NSFW of course)...
…and I have to admit that I don’t like posting about abortion, but I thought Lawrence O’Donnell made a good point here about how incest laws vary from state to state in this country…
…and I guess I should put up a song about snow since we’re going to get a good bit of it apparently, but I think this is an appropriate response to this item (what the #@!$ is it with the Repugs and using songs in violation of copyright without permission? More here too).

.....and changing the mood big time, Rachel Maddow tells us the significant impact the federal hate crime law has made in the prosecution of the murder of James Craig Anderson in Mississippi...
...and it looks like new Repug Iowa Senator Joni Ernst made a big impact with her base here, though her response was apparently lacking in the content department, which is typical – made me recall this tune (appalling beyond words that she's taking the U.S. Senate seat once held by Tom Harkin...wonder if he has second thoughts?).

…also, I thought this was a well-done segment by Rachel Maddow about the aftermath of the vote for war with Iraq in this country as compared to the vote in France for expanding the fight against ISIS (basically, one vote in opposition each time…part of me thinks everyone who voted for the AUMF should have sung The Star-Spangled Banner way back when in imitation of what France did, but in this country, I think that would have made the ultimate perversion even worse)…
…and this was truly funny stuff from Jon Stewart on FLA; the really funny part is that he did this on a show where Marco Rubio was a guest (have to check out that interview later)…
…and given that the prior clip featured the Sunshine State, here is perhaps its most famous performer favoring us with a tune written by the guy I put up here a couple of days ago.

I’m glad to hear Jeremy Scahill’s point of view on the response to the Charlie Hebdo tragedy, particularly his opening remarks about all of the world leaders who attended the march on Sunday and their at-best lukewarm record on press freedom and human rights overall…
...and I thought this was a pretty interesting report on all of the online stuff going on between ISIS and Anonymous (funny in a Stanley Kubrick kind of way that ISIS couldn’t even break down the pay wall for the Albuquerque newspaper - BTW, Richard Engel's report was pretty interesting)…
…and as I know I’ve said ad nauseum, you’d be better off watching paint dry than viewing a minute or less of Fix Noise…
..and yes, I realize the prior clip has to do with Birmingham in the UK, but it still put me in the mood a bit to hear this tune.

…and with the arrival of the 114th Congress, now completely in the control of Republicans due to the dunderheaded stupidity primarily of Southern voters and those too lazy to show up on Election Day last year, allow me to make a not-bold-at-all prediction that we will have more gridlock, more whining by Republicans about how that baaad Kenyan Muslim socialist isn’t doing everything he can for the “one percent,” and more faux hand-wringing by our Beltway courtier media wondering why oh why those bad-mannered Democrats just won’t roll over and give the Republicans every single thing they want.

…and here is more on the “violence” incited by “race hustlers” such as Al Sharpton and President Obama, each of whom supposedly has “blood on their hands” according to the wingnuts in light of the horrible killings of two New York police officers – yeah, check out the “violence” of the protests shown in the clip…boy, those crowds are sure worked up into a violent frenzy, aren’t they (here)?...
...and I know we just observed the big day, but here's a little item I might add for next year - well, maybe not (I could do without the "O Holy Night" one at the end, to be honest)...

Let’s see – how many ways does this go wrong…chock full of violent images, crammed full of anti-liberal stereotypes, objectifying women…oh, and it’s absolutely NSFW because of language. And the biggest right-wing boogeyman (person?) of all is at the very end, of course.
And the person behind this is Matthew Continetti, who I’m sure is just oh so proud (and who I've posted about many times in the past)…what an imbecile…
…and I absolutely couldn’t help but thinking of the Troy Davis case as I watched this…

I always thought that the whole Nixon/Elvis thing was an instance where “The King” got utterly played by Tricky Dick and his pals, though I didn’t hear Elvis complaining at the time (John Lennon would reply to Presley later on about The Beatles and drug use, something about Elvis selling out when he enlisted; yes, the Fab Four certainly consumed their share of hallucinogens, but Elvis would turn into a walking pharmacy under the “care” of Dr. Nick himself)…
…and there actually are retailers out there that are trying (in their way, I guess) to be “family friendly” for the holidays – so let’s give them “a taste” as much as we can, OK?...
..and to the seasonal stuff we go – I think we're going to have a “wet” Christmas in these parts, as opposed to a “white” one...
...and let's order up a side o' soul, OK?...
...and some blues while we're at it (the needle isn't completely in sync, but that's OK)...
...meanwhile, Captain Kirk explains it all (joke)...
...and it isn't Christmas without family misbehavior, hopefully not involving the police (or nothing they'll actually report, anyway)...

Somehow I think that, if a certain Willard Mitt Romney and Vice President Puppy-Dog-Eyes-With-The-Shiv were residing in An Oval Office instead of the current occupants (and thank God that that's not the case), then we would be hearing something different...hopefully all will continue to go well from an environmental point of view in Mississippi, but if their water catches fire, things blow up and/or people start getting sick, don't come crying to us...

I can’t tell you how utterly disgusted I am about this idiocy with North Korea and that movie “The Interview,” with Seth Rogen and James Franco (here).
So let me get this straight – we are now kow towing to threats from two-bit regimes that have somehow become particularly adept at cyber warfare? Where does this end? Does Iran, for example, which (last I checked) doesn’t recognize Israel’s right to exist, now tell us that we can no longer broadcast “Schindler’s List?” And believe me when I tell you that I have issues with Israel, by the way.
Basically, this is about OTHER studios/distributors as well as theater chains worrying about the chilling effect this whole dustup could have on THEIR movies that will debut next week (such as Disney’s adaptation of “Into the Woods”). Because (and I definitely don’t enjoy pointing this out), while the appropriate reaction to all of this is for “The Interview” to debut all over the country on Christmas to sold-out viewings everywhere, it’s very possible that the exact opposite would happen.
So, as a result, we end up looking like a bunch of spoiled little babies afraid of our own collective shadow. Our enemies laugh and our friends all say “WTF?”
Well, since I can’t embed that great Jeff Daniels “America Is Not The Greatest” clip from “The Newsroom,” I suppose this NSFW clip from “Team America” will have to suffice (and THAT was cancelled too? Judas H. Priest on a pogo stick!!!)…
...and I wasn't able to get this video from MSNBC's still-wretched-and-utterly-hosed web site, but fortunately You Tuber PlanetEarth TrimTab did - Rachel Maddow tells us that the parents of the Sandy Hook victims are going after the gun lobby on the issue of firearm immunity from prosecution, which to me has always been particularly contemptible...
...and here's a question for our ol' buddy Vlad Putin - do you STILL think invading Crimea was a good idea (here)?...
...and it looks like that Kenyan Muslim tree-hugging socialist is making vast new areas of our environment safe for posterity again; seriously, kudos to Number 44 for this (and this actually got 15 "dislikes" on You Tube - unbelievable)...

(Sorry, but there’s a lot of verbiage to lead off this clip – the more I watched it, the more pissed off I got.)
Want to know why the Dems got creamed in the last election? I submit that part of the reason is because of the unbelievable disconnect between the White House and progressive U.S. House Democrats as evidenced in this clip (yeah, the Repugs are being typical greed heads, but I don’t think that’s news at this point…give voters a choice between Republicans and Republican-lites, and Republicans will get the vote every time, even though we’re going to be continually punished for the result…I have to admit, though, that Alex Wagner asks a really stupid question at about 5:30 and follows up just as stupidly at about 7:00, and why the #@!$ are they featuring Chuck Todd(ler)? – yeah, MSNBC sure is “liberal,” isn’t it…nice to hear Chris Van Hollen complain about the pages in the bill after listening to the Repugs carry on about the size of the health care bill that of course became law…Howard Fineman makes some good points, but I take issue with the entire framing of this clip; I think the U.S. House Dems are the only responsible adults here, and I don’t know how or why they should be held to account if there is a shut down – oh, and let Joshua Green do some framing too against the backdrop of the mid-terms, when in reality, if the Dems – as usual – had the courage of their convictions and stood with Number 44, I honestly don’t believe it would have been quite the rout that it was…not giving Obama a pass for caving and signing off on this garbage, though – one more thing; Wagner goes completely off the rails with her comment about the Teahadists at about 13:00; they came to fruition to oppose Obama and rebrand after Dubya – they don’t have a “populist” molecule in their metaphorical bodies)…
Oh, and by the way, the damn thing passed the House with the help of 57 “Democrats” here (a Senate vote will take place over the next day or so).
And who the hell decided to call this mess the “Cromnibus,” by the way? It sounds like one of the last emperors of Rome before it was overrun by the Huns...
…switching to a whole other topic, I think there have been times when Time Magazine really blew it with its Person of the Year selection, but I think they really nailed it in the best way possible this year…

I submit that part of the reason is because of the unbelievable disconnect between the White House and progressive U.S. House Democrats as evidenced in this clip (yeah, the Repugs are being typical greed heads, but I don’t think that’s news at this point…give voters a choice between Republicans and Republican-lites, and Republicans will get the vote every time, even though we’re going to be continually punished for the result…I have to admit, though, that Alex Wagner asks a really stupid question at about 5:30 and follows up just as stupidly at about 7:00, and why the #@!$ are they featuring Chuck Todd(ler)? – yeah, MSNBC sure is “liberal,” isn’t it…nice to hear Chris Van Hollen complain about the pages in the bill after listening to the Repugs carry on about the size of the health care bill that of course became law…Howard Fineman makes some good points, but I take issue with the entire framing of this clip; I think the U.S. House Dems are the only responsible adults here, and I don’t know how or why they should be held to account if there is a shut down – oh, and let Joshua Green do some framing too against the backdrop of the mid-terms, when in reality, if the Dems – as usual – had the courage of their convictions and stood with Number 44, I honestly don’t believe it would have been quite the rout that it was…not giving Obama a pass for caving and signing off on this garbage, though – one more thing; Wagner goes completely off the rails with her comment about the Teahadists at about 13:00; they came to fruition to oppose Obama and rebrand after Dubya – they don’t have a “populist” molecule in their metaphorical bodies)…
Oh, and by the way, the damn thing passed the House with the help of 57 “Democrats” here (a Senate vote will take place over the next day or so).
And who the hell decided to call this mess the “Cromnibus,” by the way? It sounds like one of the last emperors of Rome before it was overrun by the Huns...
…switching to a whole other topic, I think there have been times when Time Magazine really blew it with its Person of the Year selection, but I think they really nailed it in the best way possible this year…

As a follow-up to this item, I give you the following (a fast food protest at a McDonald’s in Detroit yesterday)…
…and as somebody said, elections have consequences – a pretty pathetic story about the “land of plenty” (a good report, though, but everyone was a little too polite towards the politicians responsible as far as I’m concerned – this stuff doesn’t happen when Democrats are in charge, but of course we won't see that again for a good while now)…
…and given that this is now in the hands of the High Court of Hangin; Judge JR, I’m not optimistic, sad to say (and turning to this incoming Congress for a solution if The Supremes rule against Peggy Young? Better luck catching a break from the Easter Bunny)…

...and with that in mind, I give you this EXTREMELY NSFW but righteous rant from Cenk Uygur here...
…and it looks like the Beltway media fairy tales concerning the non-indictment of Officer Darren Wilson are being constructed ad nauseum…fortunately, Lawrence O’Donnell provides a reality check…
..and there are times when, I guess, all that's left is humor (here)...
...also, RIP Ian McLagan (bad week for great supporting rock n' roll musicians)...
...and I'm kind of forcing myself to listen to this seasonal number, but I think I need it.

...and sticking with the environment, with all due respect to Janay Rice, anyone protesting in Ferguson, MO and even our military making heroic sacrifices overseas, among other critical issues, I can’t think of anything that trumps this (sad to hear anyone gushing over Tom “Six More Months” Friedman though)…
...and I'll let the symbolism of this story speak for itself...
…and sorry, but I’m not quite in the holiday spirit after hearing about this – I think what follows is a more appropriate tune for this tragic occasion (yeah, no lynching or tree or Southern location, but we're still talking about a dead American; I think this says it).

…and many years ago, CBS Reports produced the landmark documentary “Harvest of Shame” narrated by Edward R. Murrow – I guess you could call this an update for 2014…
…and if this is starting to sound like a broken record, that’s probably because it is (though, fortunately, Brian Dennison was apparently unhurt in this latest story of what you might call a "cowboy cop," though his daughter was scared to death, which could actually be fatal for someone severely asthmatic)…
…and speaking of law enforcement…
