Tuesday Stuff

I really hadn’t planned to say anything about this today given that I wanted to devote everything else to mark the grim anniversary of we-all-know-what (also noted here), but I have to given the fact that Harry Reid has said here that he won’t bring Dianne Feinstein’s renewal of the assault weapons ban up for a vote in the Senate.

To which I say, why the hell not?

We know Harry Reid can’t get any Repug votes. They’ve totally gone over as the comforters of the already-comfortable “pay no price, bear no burden” bunch. I don’t see how anyone can blame Reid for that.

But what I can (and I DO) blame him for is not making the effort to hold a vote to get these cretins on the record, establishing once and for all that these craven shills are totally at the disposal of their puppet masters dispensing their weapons of death and carnage. F*ck Senate protocol! (and yes, I really said that).

Michael Moore is on Piers Morgan as I type this, and one of the things he said is that at least the Repugs have the courage of their awful convictions. That’s more than I can ever say for Harry Reid and his admittedly good ones (this video reminds us what's at stake, in case we've somehow forgotten, notwithstanding our idiot politicians...and please spare me the whole "HE SAID 'FULLY AUTOMATIC' - BOY IS HE DUMB!" stuff...a semi-automatic will kill you just as dead, and that's all Adam Lanza needed to slaughter 20 school children and 6 adult teachers with 5 30-round clips in about five minutes)…

…and by the way, the spiritual godfather of this blog (something that would probably make him laugh if he cared enough) would have been 85 today (here) – the credo of his most famous character (I guess) is included in this clip…

…and as someone must (and Rachel Maddow is definitely someone up to the task), we are reminded indeed of what happened 10 years ago today (and those who plied their craft to foul ends in service of the war are noted here, including Mr. Suck-On-This…the Iraq stuff starts at about 11:10, but the rest of this, including Vietnam and Nixon – which I’d more or less heard before – is pretty darned interesting too...I didn't see the follow-up piece with Col. Lawrence Wilkerson)…

Update 3/20/13: And by the way, it took a lot to get a laugh out of this, but here is an example (h/t Atrios).

…and the following is offered without comment.

Monday Stuff

This is more attention than, truth be told, I feel like paying to NBA basketball, but I feel like I have to comment on the news that the career of Sixers marquee center Andrew Bynum has apparently ended, as noted here, before it ever began (the guy commenting in the video below turned out to be smarter than anyone in the Sixers’ supposed brain trust).

So the Sixers trade Andre Iguodala, former first-round pick Nik Vucevik plus some other guy, plus some other first-round picks (not sure, but I think they did) for a guy who won’t play a minute this season and probably not ever for this team.

You want to know part of the reason why this train wreck happened? Philly sports talk radio, that’s why, particularly WIP. Those morning nitwits made a career out of attacking Iguodala and could barely contain their glee when it was traded. Yes, it was unrealistic to expect Iguodala to lead that team the way another player with those same initials did previously. But is that Iguodala’s fault?

Hell, I didn’t think anything could be worse than the Charles Barkley trade for Jeff Ruland, Cliff Robinson and Roy Hinson, as well as giving up the Number One overall pick. But at least Ruland, Robinson and Hinson played.

And as long as I’m at it, the other professional sports team playing games that count right now deserve a dishonorable mention as well. If the people running the orange-and-black had any brains either, they’d be having the biggest fire sale in the world right now and try to stockpile draft picks in order to rebuild the team (to say nothing of cutting ticket prices).

That’s what the hated Rangers did about 5-6 years ago. And yes, they missed the playoffs a few times, but they’re contending now with a solid core, and we’ll see how far they go, though I’ll admit they’re still long shots (hell, the Islanders are ahead of the Flyers right now – that’s what they did too).

We’ll see what it will take for the “Stepford” sports fans in this city to stop forking over the dough to put asses in the seats and watch all this mess, assuming that ever happens of course…

…turning back to political stuff, I give you more nonsense in “The Breeding Ground for Bad Government,” as The Eternal Molly Ivins once called the “land of the yellow rose”…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and 50 years ago today, a very important Supreme Court ruling was handed down, as noted here (I’ll plan to say more about this later – this was the basis for the terrific TV movie “Gideon’s Trumpet” starring Henry Fonda)…

…and I thought this was a nifty little retro tune.

Sunday Stuff

Yeah, the political demise of Scott Brown is a few news cycles old, but I still think it’s instructive (the "full Palin" - heh)…

Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

Gee, I wonder if the CPAC crazies want to reconsider blowing off Governor Bully in light of this…

…I also should probably include this (and by the way, an utter pox on the Teahadist idiots who voted Ted Cruz to the United States Senate, another Republican from whom arrogance oozes out of every pore of his body)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and nothing like a good Friday rant (NSFW – from here)…

…and yes, this is wonky stuff, but it’s important as hell (and since when did “daughter of Breitbart” S.E. Cupp somehow emerge as a Beltway media star?)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and happy 70th birthday to Sly Stone, wishing him all the best...

…and happy St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday, by the way (also NSFW).

Wednesday Stuff

OMIGOD Paul Ryan is SO SERIOUS, isn’t he, according to the Beltway punditocracy (here, and thank God for Alan Grayson)…

…and here is some actual, honest-to-goodness good news on guns from Bill Press of Current TV…

…and Senator Elizabeth Warren does it again here – more power to her…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and best wishes to His Holiness Pope Francis (here).

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Tuesday Stuff

Just a bit of a Freudian slip from Mr.-Puppy-Dog-Eyes-With-The-Shiv, huh (here)…

…and now it looks Chucky and Davey “think it would be fun to run a newspaper,” as a movie character once said (here – and by the way, trying to destroy Social Security is merely the tip of the proverbial iceberg with these two foul creatures)…

…and can you think of a word to describe the irony of Daddy Fred going over to Russia to help “Uncle Joe” and then coming back to the US of A preaching the gospel of anti-communism?...

…and Rachel Maddow and the one and only Rush Holt of New Jersey explain to us just how ridiculous our energy policy (or what passes for it) truly is…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I second, third, fourth and fifth what John F. says here about Former Commander Codpiece…

…on a wholly other (and much more pleasant) note, happy 65th birthday to JT (once met brother Hugh years ago at The Outermost Inn - good dude).

Monday, March 11, 2013

Monday Stuff

As I watched this, I wondered if junior and high school kids in other countries are going to study (if they're not already), in their social studies textbooks, the importance of, say, prevailing wage law and strong private-sector unions as a means to achieve genuine income equality and a just standard of living, as opposed to those poor saps in the United States who kissed it all away by electing primarily Republicans (and I don’t totally absolve myself on that either – it took me awhile to figure out how rigged the game truly is)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and let’s not forget how big a role this plays too…not sure if this is as pathetic as the Dems caving on FISA in 2008, but if not, it’s pretty darned close…

Update 3/12/13: And by the way, in a related story as they say, I meant to link to this earlier.

…and I don’t know who these guys are, but I thought this was a fairly cogent commentary on the whole North Korea/South Korea thing (here), which I’ll admit is a bit disquieting (and former New York Ranger Derek Boogaard, he of the untimely death, once beat the hell out of former Flyer Todd Fedoruk in a hockey fight – just sayin’)…

…and now that I think of it, maybe I should have used this for International Women’s Day instead.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Sunday Stuff

Kudos to Lawrence O’Donnell for speaking truth to stoo-pid here – I got tired of all of these articles trying to create this fantasy that Rand Paul is some kind of “glibertarian” moderate, as opposed to the hare-brained loon that he actually is...

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and not only did I fail to acknowledge International Women’s Day yesterday, but I also failed to acknowledge Black History Month in February – please allow me to make up both at once here.

Friday Stuff

I thought David Axelrod had some interesting insights into the 2012 election; yes, he leans Dem of course, but he’s a data-driven guy, let’s not forget…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and Ezra Klein gives us a lesson in political priorities (“White House Tours,” Repugs? Really? Women, children, unemployed, our veterans trying to seek educational assistance – they all don’t count, I guess…full disclosure: we had a tour last year arranged through the office of Sen. Bob Casey…Casey’s people did a great job – you didn’t seriously think I would have asked Mikey the Beloved, did you?)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I’m not sure how I managed to do this, but I somehow neglected the passing of Firesign Theater’s Peter Bergman last year, who left us a year ago tomorrow – here is my belated tribute…

…and happy birthday to Gary Numan (yep, just when you want to stomp it out of existence once and for all, the ‘80s live again).

Thursday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

Yep, you have to go a long way to make people like Larry Kudlow and Rick Santelli at CNBC look intelligent, but leave it to Fix (Business) Noise to do something that is virtually impossible, as Lawrence O’Donnell explains here…

…and I don’t have much to speak of on this video, so here it is - a nifty little number I must say.

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Wednesday Stuff

Yep, we’re coming up on the anniversary of this too – not sure my words can do justice to the horrors carried out in our name (“Saint” Petraeus – what a joke)…

…to say nothing of the utter stupidity (John F. didn’t mention the two million Iraqi refugees, a mistake committed by a lot of others also, including many who should know better)…

…and this reminds me of better weather – watch yourselves, you crazy kids…

…and RIP Alvin Lee.

Tuesday Stuff

Hst tip to Balloon Juice for this - good for Jay Carney (Will doesn't have to worry about getting dropped from the Bucks County Courier Times, or the WaPo either I'm sure, though that should happen in both places)...

…and I know I touched on this last night, but here is more on Lord Willard Mitt and Lady Romney and their portrayal of how not to act after losing an election – somebody call the WHAAAAA-MBULANCE…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and speaking of pathetic Republican ingrates, I give you this concerning the governor of our illustrious commonwealth…

…and good luck on your movie break, Jon – we’ll miss you (here – absolutely killer ending to this)…

…and in a similar vein, I give you the genius of Mark Fiore…

…and L.Z. Granderson of CNN reminds us here that, 10 years ago this week, three brave young women told their U.K. audience what they thought of Former President Highest Disapproval Rating In Gallup Poll History – here is a song about what happened afterwards.

Monday, March 04, 2013

Monday Stuff

I thought nothing was funnier than Lewis Black and that bit of his about the two gay guys showing up at your front door and…well, you can search You Tube to see the clip yourself and find out the rest, dear reader – this is still a hoot…

…and yeah, Ed Schultz helps us to keep our eye on the ball, as it were (and I once laughed at Dennis Rodman when he was on Howard Stern, but now, he’s nothing but a pitiable moron)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I mentioned The Eagles last night, and as I read this, I had this song running around in my head – apropos, I think…

…and 50 years ago tomorrow marks the anniversary of the tragic passing of country music legend Patsy Cline – as I often say, you won’t find much genuine country music here, so enjoy it while you can.

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Sunday Stuff

I think Rachel Maddow has a bit of a novel idea here, naming political “storms” in the same pattern as meteorological ones; I just hope we have a name for the avalanche these clowns will hopefully face in November 2014 to drive them out of office, though it’s really a stretch to hope that voters remember that far in the future (just remember that, no matter how bad it may be, it is always good news for Republicans)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I really intended this for last night, but I got hung up watching that great Showtime documentary on The Eagles – better late than never, I guess.

Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

And all for the sake of pre-empting a primary challenge from a Teahadist, particularly in the case of Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao (here)…

…and I would say that Martin Bashir pretty much nails it on the House Speaker here…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and this tells us that, as usual, the Congressional Repug “leadership” is lying about Obama and spending (“cutting spending” being a right-wing dog whistle for gutting Medicare and Medicaid and privatizing Social Security, of course)…

Update 3/2/13: More evidence (as if we need it) is here.

…and leave it to our crack press corps to…uh…no, let me guess…what exactly is it again that they do…

…and as for Number 44, I think he needs a refresher on pop culture based on this (just kidding – honorable mention for taking a shot)…

…and I guess the weekend is time for a guilty pleasure – I think this kid is a pouty little brat, but this is a nice tune, I have to admit.

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Thursday Stuff

Thank God Elizabeth Warren is in DC to point out just what kind of a sweet deal the banksters are getting still; would that we had more of this kind of representation all along – Bernanke wouldn’t be who he is and where he is unless he was an expert at double talk (here)…

…and with Scalito’s antics with the Supremes on the Voting Rights Act, it’s important that we don’t let Hangin’ Judge JR off the hook either (and with all due respect to Rep. Clyburn, he needs to bring the same urgency to the table that Martin Bashir does here)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and really, “Booby”? Number 44 is as bad as this guy (and I’m totally ignoring Fix Noise “Democrat” Pat Caddell, which is what he deserves)...

...and this was released 30 years ago today - here is one of the hits, as they used to say.

Wednesday Stuff

Rachel Maddow has a timely history lesson, particularly so given this repulsive development…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and returning to the "sequester," here is some more reality from Former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich (making more sense in about five minutes than any Sunday morning pundit idiot could make in an hour)…

…and with an opposing point of view (giving him too much credit I guess), Bryan Fischer continues to “bring the crazy” here (A “vulture”? Moi?)…

…and now, time for a big change of pace; RIP Van Cliburn (a bit of culture once more).

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Tuesday Stuff

When it comes to the “sequester,” welcome to the “new normal,” as Rachel Maddow explains…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and Martin Bashir talks to Dana Milbank and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter about the upcoming gun votes in D.C.; cute of Milbank to stick in the fact that there are cowardly rural Democrats in the Senate on the gun issue, which is true, but there are a hell of a lot more bought-and-paid-for Republicans – trying not to be too obvious with my disgust over the fact that, as usual, the NRA made sure their toady politicians “let the air out of the ball” and drained the momentum (and by the way, here, at last, is some sanity on this issue)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Update 3/1/13: This strikes me as darkly humorous, though I guess it shouldn’t.

I guess David Keene and Wayne LaPierre will now have to create a National Bullet Association; I’m sure their fundraising will be a windfall for “red state” and some “blue state” Repug politicians all over the country. And their motto? “Bullets Don’t Kill, People Do,” of course.

…and Michael Shure, sitting in for Cenk Uygur on “The Young Turks,” marks the 1-year anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin with Brown University professor Tricia Rose…

…and I thought tonight was a good time to give “mellow” the night off.

Monday, February 25, 2013

Monday Stuff

RIP former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop – the Reaganites wanted him to be just like them, but he changed and evolved over time, as all intelligent adults in a position of leadership are supposed to do…

…and John Nichols of The Nation brings us great stuff on the “fix the debt” con that is being perpetrated here, with this guy being one of the supposed “centrists” giving it more “cred” than it deserves; there was a real stink in these parts recently when this came to light with Rendell and his former right-hand man, David Cohen (when Rendell was mayor of Philadelphia), deciding to support Tom “Space Cadet” Corbett here; I wish I could say I was surprised…yes, Rendell and Cohen, along with former City Council president and eventual mayor John Street, did some good way back when, with the help of some altruistic union cave-ins, but when push comes to shove, they’re “bottom line” guys, and I guess they figured out that the “dark side” paid better and it was time to cash in…

…and speaking of bottom-line guys, let’s try to “soften up” Sen. Mr. Elaine Chao so he looks more vulnerable to a Teahadist takeover (here); let them knock off McConnell and save us the trouble, to say nothing of saving the money…

Update 2/26/13: And by the way, speaking of McConnell…I try not to participate in spats between lefties, which are dumb, counter-productive…you name it…but as much as I admire Think Progress, I think they’re off base here; yes, Progress Kentucky walked a fine line by pointing out that former Bushco Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, who may very well go down as the absolute worst Secretary of Labor this country has ever seen, did her level best to send as many good-paying jobs in this country to China as she could, but I don’t think pointing that out is necessarily “racist.” If she had been African American and she’d sent jobs to, say, Ghana, would pointing that out be racist too?

The bigger issue I have is that, while it’s emotionally satisfying to take another shot at Chao like this for the upheaval and ruin she caused among an untold number of workers and their families in this country, the fact of the matter is that she’s been out of public life for over four years. Unless she pops up somewhere in the wingnutosphere to try and practice some revisionist history, I think we’re obligated to let bygones be bygones.

…and George Harrison would have been 70 today.

Saturday Stuff

Gee, it looks to me like Mr. Puppy Dog Eyes With The Shiv was for the sequester before he was against it – ya’ think (Ryan being so “serious” and all)...

…and I know I’ve featured a lot of blondes here lately (problem?)...well, here is another one.

Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

(And by the way, I know about this – aside from saying that Flush Limbore is a babbling, OxyContin-addicted blowhard with the common sense and intellectual curiosity of a flea, I have no further comment, except to say that there are times, Flush, when we are ashamed of you…too many to count, actually.)

Turning to the videos, Rachel Maddow brings us a whole bunch of stuff, including the antics of Teahadist Texas Senator Ted Cruz (a bit of a spawn of Limbore, I suppose); we used to refer to Joseph McCarthy as more or less of an abstraction in our politics given the passage of time. But now, we’re talking literally again – pathetic (I actually would have liked to see a bit harder of an edge here...after all, people's careers were ruined over this stuff...hell, people died over this stuff)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and thanks to a U.S. Congress with a whole bunch of Teahadist nematodes like Cruz, we have to deal with this…

…turning to a decidedly more upbeat topic, this tells us of the latest entrants to the Songwriters Hall of Fame; nothing against Aerosmith or Foreigner, but those guys still get tons of airplay – allow me the opportunity to salute fellow entrant Tony Hatch, who brought us many great tunes particularly with Petula Clark, including this one (a bit timely for the weekend – yeah, I know, real “Carnaby Street”)…

…and RIP Magic Slim (and I’m sure Fred and Ginger wouldn’t mind a bit).

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Thursday Stuff

Yep, as I just-about-always say, when you need hard-hitting journalism and the networks with initials for names aren’t getting it done, it’s time for Jon Stewart (well, I may not always use those exact words – wow, what a finish to this one!)…

…and as I said last night, there was nothing supposedly spontaneous, or anything even close to that, about the Teahadists (and as those smarter than I have pointed out, it was nothing but an attempt at rebranding the Repug Party to try and get rid of the stench from Dubya anyway)…

…and I’m a little behind on the news cycle on this from Monday, but I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Wednesday Stuff

Once again, Chris Matthews explains it all (here – he’s on a hell of a roll)…

…and yeah, it looks like the Repugs are going down in flames…good times (and I’d love to agree with Rachel on the line about Chuck Hagel being the first filibustered cabinet nominee, but it’s not completely true – by the way, Rachel Maddow is waay too smart not to know that there was nothing spontaneous about the rise of the Tea Party)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and it looks like Fix Noise humanoid Megyn Kelly is trying to gin up more supposed controversy over Al Gore’s sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera America – Kelly should keep this in mind…

Update 2/21/13: And from the ridiculous to the even more ridiculous, I give you this.

…and in keeping with the “stupid and contagious” theme, I should point out that Kurt Cobain would have been 46 today.

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Tuesday Stuff

And while all of this is going on, Mikey the Beloved and his pals have closed up shop for a little while; Obama is somewhat to blame for agreeing to the sequester also, though not primarily – this was the best he could come up with when dealing with those knuckleheads in the House who were holding the debt ceiling hostage, resulting in the 2011 Budget Control Act…as actor Bradley Whitford said on “Real Time” all those years ago, as far as the Repugs are concerned, “tax cuts are their Jesus” (for the one percent, of course, and nobody else)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Update 2/20/13: And here is a bit of history on this subject.

…and happy 73rd birthday to William “Smokey” Robinson.

Monday Stuff

I give you the following in honor of President’s Day (hey there, Abe sweetheart)…

…and kudos to Barbara Morrill at Daily Kos for providing the needed context on the latest nonsense from Fix Noise news model Ed Henry (here)…

…and before anyone decides to shed a tear for departing U.S. Senate Repug Mike Johanns (here), remember that he probably had more to do with killing ACORN than anyone else (here), sponsoring those amendments that turned out to be unconstitutional (here)…Johanns is also attached to this bit of political cowardice, which we are reminded of once more by that Murphy fellow…

…and I watched just about all of Rachel Maddow’s excellent documentary tonight on the run-up to the Iraq war (here); she ended up recounting a lot of stuff many of us already knew, but she nevertheless performed a great service – watching Doug Feith now utterly copping out was one of the many repugnant moments, with Feith being one of the biggest fabricators…I kind of wish a bit more of a withering eye had been cast at Judith Miller and Michael Gordon of the New York Times, though.

The bottom line, of course, is that the proverbial buck stops with this guy – here’s a song in his “honor” starting at about 4:17.

Wow, Republicans talking out of both sides of their faces on the “sequester” (more here) – shocking I know…

(I also posted here.)

Kudos to departing Dem Senator Frank Lautenberg for a great career in public service, he being one of the precious few politicians in this country to stand up to the NRA prior to Sandy Hook; he is getting ready to (by all accounts) hand the baton, as it were, to Cory Booker – wonder how this makes Rob Andrews feel…

…and in case anyone is wondering why we fought so hard for Elizabeth Warren last year, here is a reminder (more here - awww, their widdle feelins is hurt, boo-f*cking-hoo)…

…and in case the NRA is hoping that the momentum for common-sense gun reforms is letting up any…well, I don’t see that, and if they say they do, then they’re dreaming…

…and here’s a neat little tune to help us zip into the weekend.

Thursday Stuff

Every time I think they can’t go lower (here…why in God’s name Harry Reid won’t pursue filibuster reform for real after this is something I cannot possibly imagine)…

Wednesday Stuff

Happy 90th birthday to a real American hero…

…and once again, Chris Matthews speaks the truth – God only knows (literally) if Rome is listening…

…and I don’t know what has gotten into Matthews exactly, but as far as I’m concerned, he’s a “man on fire” for this too…

…and why can’t Deadeye Dick Cheney just go crawl into his undisclosed location somewhere and let nature take its inevitable course (here – God, is Charlie Rose a tool)…

…and surely as flatulence follows indigestion…well, didn’t you just know where “Wall Street Scott” Brown would end up (here)…

...and happy 71st birthday to Peter Tork of The Monkees, sharing vocals here with Micky Dolenz.

Tuesday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

You go, Gabby…

…and to get an idea of how big the obstacle is that we face on this issue, please watch this…

…and aside from getting the word out, another way we can fight back is to support Democratic U.S. House candidates like Robin Kelly (here)…

…and Dem Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio talks to Rachel Maddow about what he’s like to see in President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I actually think Moon Unit Bachmann is right at about a minute or so here concerning changes in American politics, but not the way she realizes of course (excerpts from Repug responses to the SOTU over the last four years - I think all Marco Rubio has to do is show up to top these jokers, he being the supposed Repug savior and all...absolutely love K.O.’s snickering under his breath as Jindal walked up to the podium)…

Update 1: And isn't it funny, in an unfunny way I'll admit, that the supposed future of the GOP in the Senate opposed the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (here).

Update 2: And concerning Rubio, I think this and this are worthy of a (just about) "spit take."

Update 3: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (here).

…and I selected this video for the expert level of musicianship and the subtlety of the lyrics – yeah, sure I did.

Professor Krugman had, as usual, some interesting words related to this today (here…and Grayson makes a good point in particular about the Repugs and the primaries – love to see a Teahadist go after Mikey the Beloved next year - more here)…

As of August 1, 2013, the Post Office will stop Saturday mail delivery – Sam Seder gives us the sordid history as to why (like just about all bad things in government, think Bushco…more here)…

…and here is a good Saturday night bar song (I think this loops into a playlist, just so you know).
