Wednesday Stuff
David Shuster of Rebel HQ brings us Robert of Cleveland, Ohio apologizing on C-SPAN for voting for #47...I suppose I should ridicule him for wasting his vote two years ago, and this man does deserve a measure of blame, but I’m sorry; I just can’t kick someone who’s trying to mend his ways...oh, but the Gropenfuhrer has yet another meltdown when he’s held to account over the Trumpstein files – how damn predictable...and yes, C-SPAN is indeed a treasure for reporting all of this madness with the deadpan accuracy it deserves...we also learn that the Trumpsters appear to be tiring of the antics of Crazy Eyes Ka$h Patel as FBI head, but don’t expect this regime to name someone who is actually competent if Patel is sacked (clip revisits Patel’s snorkeling excursion at Pearl Harbor, as well as some of the personal trips he took for himself and his girlfriend on a taxpayer-financed jet)...also, kudos to Michael Feinberg for cutting through all of this Patel nonsense...
...and Brittany Page lets us know that Trumpster Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins claimed recently that food stamp recipients can buy a “Lambo” – WHAAA??? Yep, looks like Rollins put her foot in it again, with hunger worse now than at the height of the pandemic...obviously, I trust absolutely nothing from our ruling regime, but as Page points out, if you have the means to own a vehicle like the ones Rollins describes, why the hell would you then go through the trouble of filling out all kinds of paperwork for SNAP benefits?...also as Page says, if our ruling gang of frauds and charlatans could actually find ONE PERSON guilty of this claim, wouldn’t they then parade this person all over wingnut media? I guarantee you, if they found someone, it would be on 150 right-wing web sites, blogs, substacks...whatever...in about 15 minutes...didn’t know about Cantaloupe Capone intervening for a $620 million deal for Uday Trump, Jr. – gee, where’s James Comer screeching about that the same way he did about the “Biden crime family”?...I’d forgotten that our *preznit cancelled the annual hunger survey, which figures; I mean, he can’t talk about hunger if he has no data on it, now can he?...about 363 million people around the world facing acute hunger because of the ruinous policies of our ghoulish federal overlords (slightly NSFW/H)...
...oh, and did you know that, according to Repug U.S. House Rep Randy Fine of FL-06, that "many Democrats hate America"? I realize that that’s wingnut boilerplate for the reddest of red districts, but yeah, I still think it needs to be called out (Fine is the numbskull responsible for this, among his other misdeeds...one response is to click here, and yes, I know the electoral odds are long, but there’s no percentage at all in doing nothing)...
...and Ali Velshi gives us a bit of a history lesson on how we celebrated the Bicentennial, contrasting that with the 250th anniversary...he includes a pretty spot-on accurate lesson of Philadelphia at a time when yours truly was growing up, with Frank Rizzo as perhaps the dominant, and most controversial, figure of that time; one of Velshi’s completely accurate points is that often a celebration like the Bicentennial back then is contrasted by protests of marginalized groups, which is part of our tradition also IMO...I give Velshi credit for saying that a lot of the political carnage going on right now goes back to the “unresolved sin” of slavery, and if anybody out there thinks that’s hyperbole, ask yourself if you SERIOUSLY BELIEVE that Our Ochre Abomination would have ascended politically without the animus generated by whites against our first black president...with Eddie Glaude, Jr...I knew about the VRA of ’65, but I’d forgotten about the Immigration and Nationality Act from that same year and its positive impact; good point by Glaude also that attacks on African American voting AND immigration are part and parcel of the same racist crap platformed and promoted by our ruling gaggle of miscreants and pretenders...”history may not repeat itself, but it damn sure rhymes” indeed...
...and Desi Lydic of The Daily Show gives her take on Pumpkin Pol Pot’s battle against windmills...and yes, they are indeed wind turbines, but since we live in the worst timeline, I guess they’re back to being windmills, or something...
...and happy 87th birthday to Ian Hunter.
