Tuesday Stuff

David Pakman tells us about Dems winning another special election, this time in New Hampshire - Democrat Bobbi Boudman defeated Republican Dale Fincher, flipping a state house seat that was won by Cantaloupe Capone two years ago by nine points as noted here (and believe me when I tell you that, overall with some exceptions, New Hampshire trends towards the “R” side; I get mad at conserva-Dems like Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan at times, but they know the landscape of that state better than I do)...as impressive as the 13-point swing here towards the “D” team is, it also means a lot that the strategy of “let’s drown the Dems in negative ads” apparently didn’t work this time fortunately, and it’s also heartening that the “R” team lost on school vouchers, showing that there’s more support for public schools than our corporate media thinks (and Jesse Dollemore talked last week about Shawn Harris leading so far in GA-14)...

...and David Shuster of Rebel HQ brings us the story of “I did that!” stickers apparently popping up at gas pumps all over the place, aimed right at Cheetoh Benito; turnabout is definitely fair play here, since that stoo-pidity was ubiquitous against “No Malarkey Joe” in ’24...GREAT point that “energy dominance does NOT mean energy independence,” given that we lead the world in liquified natural gas from fracking (which is ruining our landscapes, but that’s a whole other story)...oh, and now along comes human phallus (no, not Baby Goebbels for once) Brendan Carr to basically threaten news orgs to tow the line from our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes or lose their broadcast licenses, a threat that will survive exactly zero court challenges...oh, and it also looks like SecDef Kegseth punted the awful attack on the Iranian girls school over to CENTCOM to avoid accountability, just like a good Trumpist lickspittle is supposed to...

...and yesterday marked the 23rd anniversary of the murder of peace activist Rachel Corrie; she was crushed by a bulldozer that was demolishing Palestinian settlements in Gaza...I actually didn’t know what happened, but I saw the torrent of wingnut ridicule heaped upon her posthumously so I looked into it...she actually survived the attack and lingered for a few hours; the pictures are horrifying...maybe some insanity mixed in with her incredible bravery; we’ve been coddling “Bibi” and his hellish thugs for way too damn long, and I think we should commemorate anyone who stands up to that...

...and Emma V. of The Majority Report tells us about Dick Durbin in the Senate commendably speaking up against the SAVE Act, which, yet again, is a “solution” in search of an actual problem...didn’t know that driver’s licenses by themselves wouldn’t be accepted as valid under the Act, but given the people behind this stoo-pidity, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised...also didn’t know that the Gropenfuhrer is holding out his endorsement of John Cornyn in Texas to try and get Cornyn to go along with this mess, but to be honest, I don’t think #47 has the gravitas he once had on this, especially in a Repug primary (maybe in the general, but to be honest, I’m not even sure about that either)...and man, is Matt Lech right about Repug voters feeding on horsesh*t and our corporate media totally falling down when it comes to calling it out...one of the many good points here is how voter suppression overwhelmingly influences minority communities and those where people of color live, as well as people with disabilities...more on Cleta Mitchell, a woman who basically has been doing her best to “ratf*ck” Democratic elections for over 30 years (and all because she ran unsuccessfully as a Dem for Oklahoma lieutenant governor in 1986), is here and here...also, I don’t know why the hell David freaking Axelrod just SHUTS THE HELL UP about the Iranian school bombing; he certainly doesn’t have any intel on that, nor do I of course, but that has all the hallmarks of some of the garbage Israel has pulled in Gaza (referencing the Rachel Corrie clip a bit - NSFW/H)...

...and Seth Meyers gives us “A Closer Look” on the Iran war that is A) Just beginning or B) Just ending, is a A) Short excursion or a B) Longer war, along with oil prices that are A) Going up or B) Coming down; yeah, they don’t have a clue about this...and I’m sure Huckleberry Graham just put on his oversized Florsheim shoes (and you KNOW he has a pair, right?) and told Combover Caligula to bomb bomb bomb, bomb Iran, like Graham’s old pal John McCain once sang...OK, so we have “warfighter” SecDef Kegseth acting like there’s no end in sight, along with Mango Mussolini with those lonely synapses flickering to life and not giving a straight answer on this or anything else...ugh (and it doesn’t matter how much that human thumb Brendan Carr tells the media to stop reporting on the war in a way that hurts his boss’s fee fees; pictures of tankers blowing up from Iranian missiles are going to be a fact of life for a little while)...and golly gee, you mean Baby Newton Leroy is ready to throw in the towel already while he’s complaining to Kudlow? Good thing I never shared a fox hole with him (full disclosure: I never shared a fox hole with anybody)...and #47 tells his great unwashed followers that he was falling asleep while contemplating the gravest action a president can take (and worrying about the branding of course); I’m sure the families and friends of our casualties will be happy to hear that...

...and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who observe.
