Friday Stuff

(By the way, I’m really not one for self-promotion, but according to my Blogger stats, this is my 10,000th post. I don’t know if that’s a testament to perseverance, egomania or actual insanity, or equal parts of all three, but if you’re reading these words, thanks for coming along on the ride with me after lo these many years.)

To begin, Kyle Kulinski gives us the gory details on the Gropenfuhrer and his polling collapse, not just overall but on particular issues also, most infamously his war of choice in Iran (cheered on by “Bibi” and Mohammed Bone Saw, let’s not forget) ...and by the way, I know, as a candidate, Graham Platner has some personal baggage (as do we all), but I haven’t seen evidence yet to make me want to not support him in his race to try and unseat “Disappointed” Collins in Maine (and I know where Josh Shapiro comes down on Israel, and that’s sad but not surprising, but unlike a certain PA Dem senator, I don’t think Shapiro should be automatically kicked to the curb – that’s just where I come down on him FWIW)...85% of those polled by CBS say gas is going up, which is a pretty damn substantial number, and the numbers on #47’s war of choice in Iran are trending downward also of course, and a negative 60 percent approval among independents may be the most damning number of all...and I agree with Kyle on the Dems; yeah, I get the whole “Homer Simpson sink into the bushes” meme approach, but despite that, I think this is a golden opportunity to make your case for what you would do if you were returned to power, and I just hope the “D” team isn’t blowing it again (and as far as election rigging goes, I think you definitely can expect the ICE Gestapo to show up at blue city/state polling locations this fall)...the “George W. Trump” years indeed (NSFW/H)...

...and Sam Seder of The Majority Report informs us that airports are clusterf*cked because “President Deals” doesn’t want to work with Dems...and aww, those poor widdle ICE alleged strongmen are worried about getting their picture taken at airports because they think they’ll be ID’d later when they’re trying to kidnap people – cry me a goddamn river...oh, and the Tangerine Toddler is at some Memphis roundtable allegedly about crime and safety or whatever and telling his party to keep obstructing – what a winning strategy, especially given the polling Kyle just pointed out...and once more, the SAVE Act is a “solution” in search of an actual problem, making it much more difficult for married women to vote along with college students, people who don’t have a passport or birth certificate (representing at least 40 percent of this country the last I checked), people who are elderly or infirmed and can’t get to a polling location (or, if they do, they need help) – it’s just another goddamn scam by a party totally bereft of policies or ideas to help the majority of this country...and I don’t even know if our airport mess is going to get fixed despite the fact that it’s likely inconveniencing Repug politicians also – I mean, Bronzer Beelzebub has his own damn jet, so what does he care? And I don’t know how the hell the U.S. Senate Repugs are going to get the SAVE Act passed through reconciliation since that applies to funding (which the SAVE ACT doesn’t have), but I’m sure they’ll just go ahead and blow up the filibuster again, and our corporate media will just go “ho hum, both sides, both sides” (oh...and maybe, as Sam says, they may try to sneak in ICE funding through reconciliation also...ugh...and I have to admit that I’m shocked to hear Sen. Foghorn Leghorn acknowledge reality, though I’m NOT shocked to see Chuck Schumer blow the opportunity to nail them on the funding impasse...I guess Schumer didn’t check with “the Baileys” first before he decided to duck and cover again...an update is here; it looks like DHS funding w/o ICE is moving forward after all)...

...but in case anybody out there thinks that the Senate minority leader is the only Dem politician worthy of a well-place boot, there actually is someone in our beloved commonwealth of PA who is actually more deserving, and the Logical Leftist (Jeff Waldorf) tells us about him; specifically, we find out more on John Fetterman’s plummeting approval (presented by CNN’s Harry Enten)...when Fetterman ran, he had a plus-68 rating among PA Dems, but now he’s at a negative 40 rating, which, as Waldorf points out, is a 108-point swing the wrong way, which is truly unprecedented...Fetterman’s embrace of “Bibi” and All Israel All The Time was his worst move, but there are plenty of other reasons to bail on the guy...immigration, paying homage to Mango Mussolini at Mar-a-Lago, breaking a tie in the Seante to vote for Markwayne Mullin at DHS, also backing Lee Zeldin at EPA, supporting a pardon for Pumpkin Pol Pot on his 34 felony counts, and also saying that the Dem Party runs on “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which, among other things, takes more than a little crust given Fetterman’s mental health issues...the reasons to oppose Fetterman go on and on...

...and speaking of train wrecks, David Pakman (definitely not him) has more on the total ratings collapse at “the Tiffany Network,” in particular the CBS Evening News under Bari Weiss – sounds like the worst numbers of the century (pass the popcorn)...to be honest, I’m sure David Ellison doesn’t care in any way, as long as a certain ketchup-flinging *preznit is happy (although NBC and ABC seem to be doing well, comparatively)...glad to hear Pakman point out how Fix Noise gets paid from the cable companies if you have a package that includes that trash network even if you don’t watch it (here)...

...and Desi Lydic of The Daily Show informs us of politicians who are arguably more preoccupied with social media than they should be...ummm, so Joni Ernst is leaving the Senate, but she thinks it’s “owning” the libs or something to point out that folks on SNAP benefits are eating Mickey D’s? What performative nonsense from the person who infamously said “we’re all going to die” over the loss of Medicaid benefits (here)...I have to admit that I almost expected Boomhauer to show up at the Tim Burchett leisurewear and patio chair festival, but Andy Beshear also missed the mark a bit as well, and it pains me to say that because I give Beshear credit overall...and when it comes to gratuitously self-promotion politicians, how can we exclude “Cancun” (Chili Cheese Dog Dripping Down My Shirt) Cruz, though I admit that I wish we could (and “James Coney Island”? Huuhh???)...

...and I hope you’re in the mood for a bit of a dreamy number to help us appreciate spring a little more, though I know weather-wise we’re not completely there yet (and I usually include the tune by Meredith Brooks for Women’s History Month, but maybe I’ll change things up a bit here and go with this selection instead)...

...and since this is a bit of a special occasion for yours truly, I’m going to play with the order of these videos a bit and bring us the following, which is the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 3/24/10 (going waaaay back to find this one)...for those keeping score at home, I know I recently put up the Ed Schultz/John Boehner “where are the jobs?” clip, so with the former Repug U.S. House speaker in mind, I’d like to remind us of former President Obama’s “Yes We Can” message intercut with Boehner’s predictable rant...I realize it’s painful to contemplate that we were once on the verge of turning a corner in this country before pig-headed, uninformed voters along with craven and opportunistic Repug (and cowardly Democratic) politicians did their part to make sure we slid backwards into our current predicament, but I definitely think that the history matters...I think this clip pretty plainly illustrates which side wants us to grow and evolve as a nation and which side wants us to basically torch the last 80 or so years of progress...

...but returning to the present, we know that tomorrow is the big day (here), so with that in mind, here’s another musical motivation to help us march as our means and our bodies are able and send a message to our traitorous ruling regime, and all of its sycophants wherever they may be.
