...and Rachel Maddow lets us know that President Musk and Our Ochre Abomination laid off a bunch of workers at the Hanford nuclear site and left the place with a skeleton crew (“Have you considered resigning?” indeed...sooo, first they fired the nuke personnel and then tried to “un-fire” them – are there any actual adults in this clown car of a *presidential administration* I wonder?)...I have to admit that I didn’t know about the drone that crashed into the Chernobyl nuclear site, but thank God it didn’t lead to anything...



...well, if nothing else, it looks like this abomination of a *presidential administration is trying to Make Cancer Great Again...here comes The Lincoln Project doing more of the work that the DNC should be doing, whether it’s run by Ken Martin, Jaime Harrison, Tom Perez, Tobey Maguire, ZaSu Pitts or whoever (you can Google her)...



...and Marc Elias and Paige Moskowitz of Democracy Docket discuss PA Dem governor Josh Shapiro suing President Musk and Bronzer Beelzebub to potentially unlock $3 billion in federal funds (more specifically, from the OMB under Project 2025 cretin Russell Vought)...and Elias is right that Repug governors and attorneys general should be joining Shapiro’s suit also, but good luck with trying to stand up to our ruling cabal of grifters and lowlifes...I know Elias knows the law on this stuff better than I do, but to me, it’s still a constitutional crisis if the Trump gang decides to “slow walk” compliance with a court order and tries to use stoo-pidity as a defense...



...and this is probably low-hanging fruit by comparison, but I think it still deserves to be mentioned...it looks like Elon’s “baby mama” is acting like a woman scorned, if you will, and is behaving accordingly on social media (Kyle Kulinski explains)...not to split hairs too much, but that first paragraph of Ashley St. Clair’s statement doesn’t make sense; “protect your child” from what?? Yes, the safety of the child should be ensured, but I think the lady doth protest too much also...I think St. Clair is another “clout chaser” in the final analysis...I went back and forth a bit on whether or not I should include this because I honestly don’t care about Elmo’s personal stuff, but if nothing else, it points out yet again the double standard of the “fundies” out there who proclaim that #47 is an allegedly godly man who has had multiple divorces/multiple kids with other women and now takes orders from the world’s richest man who apparently has had so many kids with other women that you need a scorecard to keep track of them...meanwhile, they ruthlessly attacked #46, who had two wives, one of whom was killed in a car crash with their daughter, and was a devout father who regularly attended Church services, not that conservative hypocrites cared of course (NSFW/H)...

Sam of The Majority Report tells us that Pete Hegseth, the Fix Noise host turned SecDef for President Musk and his orange minion, decided to rename Camp Liberty in Nort Carolina (which used to be called Fort Bragg after a Confederate traitor) back to Fort Bragg, but this time, after a different “Bragg,” if you will, from Maine, who apparently was a legit hero in WWII as noted here...even when this administration screws up, they manage to do it in reverse and in this case actually did something kind of OK (yeah, and Hegseth was the guy who just gave that speech telling Ukraine they’re on their own against Vlad The Butcher)...Sam talks about the revisionist history in favor of the “star n’ bars” that really goes back to the beginning of the last century...commentary ends at about 6:54 (and I definitely share Sam’s Dem frustration that he articulates with the caller)...

I now give you the latest installment of “This Day In Doomsy History” (more or less) from 2/14/17...it’s safe to say that I gave up on Bill Maher awhile ago, but back when he actually made sense IMO, he gave us this bit about “falling in love” with knowledge; I think it’s getting harder to find good content from our corporate media publications (which makes Ground News even more important as far as I’m concerned), but I think it’s fair to patronize who we can as our means allows...for example, I subscribe to the online version of the New York Times FWIW, and even though they employ Peter Baker and some of that paper’s ridiculous Op-Ed writers, they also employ talented ones like Jamelle Bouie, even though the good writers keep leaving (like Charles Blow and Professor Krugman)...people like Charlie Savage know their stuff also...I would also suggest supporting people like Will Bunch and Charles Pierce, and also The Rude Pundit (clip is briefly NSFW/H in a couple of spots)...



...and Chris Hayes lets us know that an appeals court rejected a bid to reinstate a funding freeze from King Elon I...oh, and DOGE is “transparent,” Elmo? WHERE???!!! As Hayes says, what we know of that enterprise of President Musk and his flunky (DOGE I mean) came out of independent reporting...and since *President Accordion Hands is so obsessed with “corruption,” I think it bears repeating that HE FIRED ALL OF THE FREAKING INSPECTOR GENERALS WHO WOULD ROOT OUT THE “CORRUPTION” THAT HE CLAIMS IS SO BAD!!! I think Hayes also does a good job here of pointing out how Mango Mussolini doesn’t give a fig about the law, despite his nonsensical claim that he’ll abide by court rulings...



...and Lawrence O’Donnell points out how ridiculous that photo-op with King Elon and his henchman truly was...and again, #47 acting like he’s going to abide by courts – yeah, this is from a professional liar...King Abdullah of Jordan visited in the midst of all of this, with O’Donnell discussing the nonsense created by the Gropenfuhrer as well as O’Donnell’s own Hollywood billionaire story...and I think the stuff about the woman allegedly making $30 million working for the federal government is the “welfare queen 2.0” based on the nonsense first created by The Sainted Ronnie R...and yeah, maybe it’s partly my fault that I’m utterly not shocked by President Musk and his second in command deciding not to send food to starving people in Sudan (following up on the Hayes clip on that idiotic photo op where Bronzer Beelzebub looked utterly helpless) – maybe I shouldn’t be as numb to this stuff as I am...I guess O’Donnell’s prior clip arguing that we’re defenseless against stoo-pidity is true, I hate to say...also, I’m utterly not shocked by #47’s actions around Musk’s 4-year-old – Combover Caligula is a demented narcissistic sociopath, so this is just another day with a “y” in it...



...and completing my MSNBC trifecta, Rachel Maddow speaks with Eric Lipton (speaking of good writers for the NY Times), who exposes Musk’s shocking conflict of interest; getting people fired for investigating him, eliminating competition...you know, typically altruistic stuff from that overgrown nepo baby (#sarcasm about altruism - and I don’t mean Maddow)...and of course, Our Ochre Abomination gets rid of the heads of the NLRB and the EEOC, because of course...and oh yeah, who needs a stinkin’ FEC to investigate complaints from last year’s election of Elmo sending payments to “encourage voter registration” – more pretty obvious illegality...and kudos to Phyllis Fong for showing up to work and telling Diaper Donnie and Apartheid Clyde what they can do...of course, Elmo wanted her gone because she had the temerity to investigate test monkeys getting abused by Musk’s company Neuralink (I’m not going to say another word about that...gut churning stuff)...and by the way, I have a token presence on Xitter, but if Musk puts that completely behind a paywall, I’ll deactivate and remove my account...

...and David Shuster brings us a video with Dem Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky standing up against Mango Mussolini’s attempt to shut down the DOE...as I watch George Conway talk about how lawless our ruling cabal truly is, I’m remembering that (as noted earlier), when #47 took his oath, he didn’t put his hand on the Bible...and oh yeah, the 1/6 rioters were assaulted, you delusional lunatic? If somehow this were happening under a Democratic administration, the 25th Amendment would have been enforced by now; that would be the right move for this moment of madness now also...and Jonah Goldberg says that USAID “doesn’t touch people”? ...and since we just witnessed a Super Bowl (and a GLORIOUS one at that!), you just knew there would be some kind of a wingnut controversy (over a flag???!!!), and this one involves rapper Kendrick Lamar and Samuel L. And by the way, I’m glad Jesse ended this clip by getting after the Dems and telling them to act like an actual opposition party. With that in mind, I want to say something.

I’m keeping an open mind when it comes to Ken Martin, who won election as the new head of the DNC, and I was curious to hear what he had to say about the biggest issues we face and what the Dems plan to do in response. Well, I received an Email from him yesterday with a sentence noting that he was recently the head of the Minnesota Democratic Farm Labor party...and then he goes right to the pitch of “orange man bad, we need to build up the party infrastructure, give us money.” So basically, he sent me an Email that was boilerplate from what I’ve received from Jaime Harrison, Tom Perez, etc.

Here is my question in response...DID YOU LEARN A SINGLE GODDAMN THING FROM THE ELECTION LAST YEAR???!!!

I’m going to point out for probably the fiftieth time at least that PEOPLE WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU IF THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT YOUR POLCIES ARE OR WHAT YOU PROPOSE TO HELP THEM!!! Gee, maybe Martin’s introductory Email could have been about how the Dems will always support women’s health care, trying to move to a renewable green energy economy (and good luck with THAT until 2028 at least), the right of workers to unionize, common sense gun laws, immigration reform for real including protecting birthright citizenship, student debt relief, LGBTQ rights, investment in infrastructure, and on and on. And yes, these positions are supported by the vast majority of this country (I would also add Palestinian human rights, but that’s just me I guess). And if you want to attack Trump, talk about fighting King Elon and DOGE (which, again, is illegally subverting the “power of the purse” given to our legislature according to the Constitution), protecting USAID for those around the world who need it (and our farmers who receive income from it), ensuring that Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security aren’t messed with by the “Xitter king” and his flunkies, etc.

So basically, Martin should take another shot at introducing himself and letting us know why we should care. If he actually were to do that the right way, you just never know what kind of positive impact that might achieve. Of course, if he does it the wrong way...

...and Rachel Maddow lets us know about some flunky for King Elmo I trying to diss GSA employees in a video conference, hastening the whole “spoon emoji” thing (too funny)...Maddow also tells us how the dismantling of USAID is crushing farmers in red state Kansas, with about 52K jobs lost...anybody out there tired of all the winning yet??!!...also, a new Ebola epidemic is breaking out in Uganda, and USAID would be helping, but – oopsie! – President Elon and Little Marco say, “naaah”...and nice work on all of the demonstrations for USAID...

...and I know I alluded to this yesterday, but David Shuster of Rebel HQ tells us about the Gropenfuhrer backing down on his tariffs with the DJIA tanking, and, again, first not saying he wanted concessions from Mexico and then claiming he got concessions from Mexico; welcome to government by chaos, all you idiots who supported him or, at a minimum, did NOTHING to help Harris/Walz last year...and if anybody out there thinks that Kevin (“Human Capital Stock”) Hassett is telling us the truth, then I have a bridge to one of the five New York boroughs to sell to you...

...and I’ve got a couple of items here that I meant to get to sooner, but they got more or less pushed aside for other newsworthy items...first, given the air tragedy in D.C. last week, Lawrence O’Donnell recalls a prior air disaster from ‘82, and I think it’s worth it to echo O’Donnell’s point about how, in the past, the first instinct from our government was sympathy and not blame, even though, as O’Donnell rightly notes, The Sainted Ronnie R fired over 11K air traffic controllers and broke up PATCO on 8/5/81 (and yeah, that sure was stoo-pid all right), and arguably led to the deadly accident O’Donnell mentions...in the past, our prior federal politicians knew to shut up before all the facts were discovered (unlike Mango Mussolini of course)...and nice work for O’Donnell to remind us about Lenny Skutnik; yeah, #40, being a good actor, often had the knack for deflecting and inspiring, but in this case (notwithstanding his horrible union busting), it was the right call (and I’m withholding any comment on what happened in Northeast Philadelphia with that medical jet crash because there’s still a lot we don’t know about that)...



...and the second item was the sentencing of former Dem U.S. Senator Bob (“Gold Bar”) Menendez to 11 years in prison last week...and yeah, you could argue that the disgraced former senator is indeed looking for a pardon from Our Ochre Abomination...way too damn funny (and I give Jesse credit for making the best of his ads for Sheath briefs – everybody has to pay the bills I guess)...



...and I haven’t had a clip from Tennessee Brando for a little while, and fortunately, I came across this item...a knife shop owner in Texas refuses to repair a “Hitler Youth” knife, though he offered to “de-Nazify” the weapon...and to be honest, I don’t care about the politics of the knife shop owner either – there’s doing the right, decent thing and then there is acting like a total POS, and the knife shop owner chose the former as far as I’m concerned...and I think it’s also called for to link all of this extremist crap right back to King Elon I...I definitely share Brando’s sentiments about “de-Nazifying” your personal relationships also, as it were (mildly NSFW/H)...

Monday Stuff

This CBC report informs us that, at a recent NHL Ottawa Senators home game against the Minnesota Wild, the American national anthem was met with scattered boos when it was played before the home crowd, in reaction to the ridiculous tariffs by Bronzer Beelzebub (I think this also happened at a Toronto Raptors basketball game)...good job by one of the commentators to recall how far back our alliance goes, particularly in the wake of 9/11 and how Canada joined in fighting Afghanistan in accordance with Article 5 of our NATO agreement (an attack against one member country is an attack against all)...as far as I’m concerned with #47, all roads lead back to Putin; the goal of our ruling regime is to undermine this country every way possible and create chaos, which is exactly what the “Moscow munchkin” wants (and this is one of the best columns I've seen yet on our current mess from Timothy Snyder)...



...and Brian Tyler Cohen informs us that, gee, whaddaya know? It looks like Canada had already figured out how to apply their own retaliatory tariffs against red states in the event that #47 started his beyond stoo-pid tariff war, which of course he did...Mexico also followed suit because they’re not idiots, including President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo (great job by still-Canadian PM Justin Trudeau in particular to recall the JFK quote)...



Update 1: And by the way, according to this (but mainly this), I just want to try and understand the sequence of events:

Trump does something typically dumb (in this case, antagonize our biggest trade partners with his idiotic tariffs)...also, Goldman Sachs informs us of a lot of “short” stock market transactions betting against our performance (Dow goes down about 700 points).

Mexico, one of those partners, agrees to some token gesture to get their tariff lifted (in this case, a promise to send 10,000 troops to the border apparently).

Trump lifts the Mexico tariffs and the market rebounds after everybody who “shorted” their U.S. market holdings has made their money.

Trump takes a victory lap ad nauseum for the next few news cycles.

Have I got this about right?

...and Mike Figueredo of The Humanist Report starts this clip by talking about pals of Elon Musk facing reprisals for the Nazi salute, including Laura Smith of our beloved commonwealth of PA, along with Michigan priest Calvin Robinson (and yes, I know that was once called the Bellamy Salute prior to WWII and was included with the Pledge of Allegiance, but I would say that the horrific events of that world crisis have changed the context at the very least)...Figueredo takes this in the direction of defending gay/trans people and other marginalized groups, which is apropos unfortunately since Musk and his cohorts are giving cover for those attacks by embracing Nazi symbolism and actual practice...Figueredo is also right about late-stage capitalism, though I wish he wasn’t...I also agree with Figueredo’s assessment that blaming “otherized” groups used to be more subtle in the past, but now you’ve got Marjorie Traitor Greene and her ilk flaunting it all over the place...and I would vote against RFK Jr. just to spite this Nicole Shanahan b*tch, though there are plenty of other reasons to oppose him also, as noted in the prior video from O’Donnell...NSFW/H...
